PATTY AND MARK ’72 MANTOVANI CELEBRATING SLUH
Dear Friends, It gives me tremendous joy to say: Welcome back to Cashbah! It is dif f icult to believe that the last time we were able to gather together in the Si Commons was all the way back in 2019. Since then, so much has transpired. And yet, the support of our incredible SLUH community has not only endured but also shone brightly during even the darkest of times. The excellence that is St. Louis U. High provides a shining light for which we should all be proud. We continue to meet the needs of all families, providing $4.6 million in need-based financial aid to 47 percent of the student body. Our need-blind admission policy allows SLUH to serve young men based on their ability to succeed and not their families’ economic circumstances. Indeed, Cashbah is so vitally important for our school. It is a shining example of what all those who “bleed blue” – parents, alumni, faculty, staff and friends – can do when they work to ensure the excellence that is a SLUH education for our Jr. Bills. I am humbled by and grateful for the incredible work of our co-chairs, Sara Martin Buehring and Nancy Parker Tice, who, together with scores of volunteers, have created our first-ever Cashbah accessible both in-person and virtually to our Jr. Bills all across the globe. What an achievement; thank you! I look forward to celebrating our wonderful young men with you this evening. Peace,
Alan Carruthers President

We welcome you – with great pleasure – to CELEBRATE SLUH: CASHBAH ’22,
our joyous return to an in-person Cashbah. The sounds of conversation and laughter in the Si Commons will be music to our ears! This Cashbah also is available online, uniting SLUH alumni, parents and friends across the country and the world. Tonight, we come together from near and far to celebrate the community's generosity that provides essential tuition assistance for almost half of the student body. Cashbah is a key reason SLUH is able to conduct need-blind admissions so all young men of promise can attend regardless of their economic background. Is there any greater gift to give a young man than a SLUH education? Cheers to the many talented volunteers and SLUH staff who have worked for months to make tonight’s Cashbah happen. The event also would not have been possible without our generous sponsors and donors of auction items. It takes so many people bringing together different talents and treasure to make this event successful! Thank you for supporting CELEBRATE SLUH: CASHBAH ’22, and thank you for believing in SLUH’s Jesuit mission of forming Men for Others who will go forth and set the world on fire! Gratefully,
Sara Martin Buehring and Nancy Parker Tice Celebrate SLUH: Cashbah ’22 Co-Chairs

General Information • All sales are final. No exchanges or returns, unless specifically stated. • All gift certificates, trips, parties or services must be used by April 1, 2023, unless otherwise specified by donor. • Failure, for whatever cause, to arrange a trip, meal, party, etc., within the time limit and according to the specified conditions and/or limitations, imposes absolutely no obligation for a refund by the donor or by St. Louis University High School (SLUH). Sale to another party by the winning bidder imposes no obligation on the donor or SLUH. • Cashbah strives to be as accurate as possible in listing donors and apologizes for any errors. When a donor is listed as “Friend of SLUH,” either the donor prefers anonymity or the gift was purchased with money from either gift gathering parties or cash donations. • All goods and services purchased at Cashbah will be used at the sole risk of the purchaser and neither Cashbah nor SLUH will be responsible or liable for any damage or injury occurring to any user of said purchased goods and services. All items are sold “as is,” and neither Cashbah nor SLUH makes any warranty or guarantee as to the merchantability or suitability of any such items. •Cashbah is a charity auction for the benefit of SLUH and is a taxexempt charitable organization as described in Internal Revenue Code Section 501c (3). Direct donations to SLUH qualify as charitable contributions from the donors and are deductible for income tax purposes to the extent allowed by law. Patrons are asked to view the auction’s policies and procedures with this in mind and to join in the charitable spirit of this event. In accordance with IRS regulations, the successful bidder of each item will be given a receipt that states the school’s good faith estimate of the actual value of the item for the bidder’s income tax records.
•Please be advised that Internal Revenue Service rules require the taxpayer to substantiate charitable donations with a written acknowledgement from the charity. The amount of your purchase at Cashbah that may qualify as a charitable contribution is limited to the excess of the amount of the purchase price over the fair market value of the auction item you purchased. Please consult your tax advisor as to the deductibility of your donation. If the purchased item consists solely of intangible religious benefit, it is regarded, for tax purposes, to have no fair market value, and will, therefore, be regarded as a charitable contribution. • The Internal Revenue Service does not regard the purchase price of a raffle ticket to constitute a charitable contribution.

FUND-A-BILL PRESERVING THE MISSION OF SLUH
As we unite this evening – together in the Si Commons and into the virtual space for those watching from afar – there is so much to be celebrate! We celebrate the opportunities SLUH students have - in the classroom, in their expressions of God-given talents, in serving the community. We celebrate formation and growth, how SLUH forms critical thinkers who are able to be a positive force for good in society. We celebrate the generosity of our community, whose investment during Fund-A-Bill supports all these wonderful parts of the SLUH journey, as our young men grow “Your generosity from timid freshmen to allows our Jr. Bills confident seniors.
to shine bright for our world.” The goal: fully fund the education for 20 young men, or $414,180.
SLUH is unique in so many ways, but the $4.6 million in need-based financial aid that will be awarded to 47% of the student body this year allows us to fulfill our mission of ensuring these experiences of growth are accessible to all young men regardless of their families’ economic circumstances. Your generosity allows our Jr. Bills to shine bright for our world. Tonight, we CELEBRATE SLUH. Thank you for allowing this school to be worthy of such a great celebration.

There’s no better way to begin the Cashbah celebration than by sharing the news that the Celebrate SLUH: Cashbah ’22 sponsors have provided more than $512,000 to the scholarship program before a single item has been sold. This monumental contribution to the scholarship program will impact the lives of countless young men – not only during their time at SLUH but also for decades to come. I offer my sincere gratitude to the members of our Sponsorship Committee – skillfully chaired by Mark Mantovani ’72 and Tim Sansone ’84 – for their tireless efforts in inviting so many SLUH friends to support Cashbah in this way. Please join me in thanking our sponsors and those who worked to encourage their support. Peace,
