YEARS OF TRADITION IN EXCELLENCE AT SLUH We seek to infuse our young men with the characteristics of The “Graduate at Graduation” when they walk across the stage to receive their diploma:
• INTELLECTUALLY COMPETENT • OPEN TO GROWTH • RELIGIOUS • LOVING • COMMITTED TO JUSTICE
— FR. IAN GIBBONS, SJ PRINCIPAL
JESUIT EDUCATION: A SLUH TRADITION
From the moment a young man steps foot in SLUH, to the moment he strides across the stage at Powell Hall to accept his diploma, everything he will experience is designed to ensure he leaves SLUH intellectually inspired, open to growth, loving and a faithdriven “man for others” committed to doing justice.
He will share a desire to achieve “Excellence in All Things”: an active, aspirational ideal that goes beyond academics, one that has driven and differentiated SLUH and its Jesuit traditions for over 200 years. It is our purpose, and our privilege, to oversee the education and formation of 1,000 young men with exceptional God-given abilities, from whom we expect extraordinary things. To accept less would deprive them, and the world beyond, of their full potential.
Throughout his four years at SLUH, he will be embraced with respect and inclusion through needs-blind admissions, statusblind friendships, a rich diversity of cultures and perspectives, and extensive co-curriculars that offer each student the opportunity to be all they can be. All in a loving and spirit-filled community.
