YOUTH CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is one of the most important moments in a young person’s life.
It is a holy occasion that allows youth to reaffirm the baptismal vows taken on their behalf when they were younger.
Our Confirmation Program began in August 2023 and concluded in May 2024. Each Sunday morning, the Confirmands gathered for a time of teaching and then broke into their respective tribes for small group learning, discussion, and prayer. Together they explored the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, the history of the Episcopal Church and its traditions and practices, including the Book of Common Prayer, liturgy, music, symbolism, and the Sacraments. They learned what it means to follow Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, service, and stewardship as members of the body of Christ. Additionally, these confirmands have been equipped and now commit themselves as followers of Christ to make decisions guided by scripture, fellowship, and the holy spirit.
These youth have now come to the point when they are ready to make an informed, personal decision to follow Jesus Christ and take ownership for their journey and relationship with the Lord.
Today is a rite of passage and a celebration that each member of this class has worked diligently to attain.
Each will receive a confirmation gift of a crosslet ring or necklace, and a personally signed certificate of confirmation from the Bishop.
We would like to thank the 2023–2024 Tribe Leaders for all they have contributed to this year’s confirmation class:
Aisnlie Barnard Stephanie Tydlaska David Owen Lee Thompson
In addition, we’d like to thank all those who have come alongside these students, giving of their time, encouraging their faith, and allowing for their gifts to flourish.
Last but not least, we would like to thank the parents for all of the love, care, and support you have given to your Confirmand throughout this process and without which your youth would not be here today.
As you can see, it truly takes a village.
Samuel Moore Director of Youth Ministries
WELCOME
FROM THE RECTOR
The Rev. Dr. Christopher D. Girata
We’re so glad you’ve joined us at Saint Michael today. We’d love to get to know you better, so please take a moment to fill out the welcome card, either physically or digitally, that can be found on this page or in the pew back in front of you. Our Welcome Team members are in the hallways today to help you with anything you need.
In addition to worship, I hope you will join us for an education class at 10 a.m. Our classes have been very well-attended, and there’s space for you! Take a look at the schedule at the back of this bulletin for descriptions and locations. Tonight, we will celebrate Veteran’s Day with our annual service for the city at 5:30 p.m. Join me in thanking the brave men and women who have served our country. In addition, this year will we will recognize those Saint Michael members who have served and are serving in the military in our Veteran’s Day worship service bulletin. Praying for those who have the courage to serve is always a privilege.
As we prepare to worship together, I invite you to take a moment and center yourself on God’s presence. Worshiping, learning, and giving together help us grow closer to who God created us to be, and you’re part of that work. May God bless you today and every day, and I hope to see you again very soon!

Celebrant The Lord be with you.
People And also with you.
Celebrant Let us pray.
Grant, Almighty God, that we, who have been redeemed from the old life of sin by our baptism into the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ, may be renewed in your Holy Spirit, and live in righteousness and true holiness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The First Lesson (seated) Jeremiah 31:31-34
The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the LORD. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, “Know the LORD,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more.
Lector The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.
The Psalm (seated, spoken by all ) Psalm 1
Happy are they who have not walked in the counsel of the wicked, * nor lingered in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seats of the scornful! Their delight is in the law of the LORD, * and they meditate on his law day and night. They are like trees planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in due season, with leaves that do not wither; * everything they do shall prosper. It is not so with the wicked; * they are like chaff which the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked shall not stand upright when judgment comes, * nor the sinner in the council of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, * but the way of the wicked is doomed.
The Second Lesson (seated) Ephesians 4:7, 11-16
But each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift. …The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.
Lector The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.

The Gospel (standing) John 14:15-21
Gospeler The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John.
People Glory to you, Lord Christ.
[ Jesus said to his disciples,]“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you. I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”

The Great Thanksgiving: Eucharistic Prayer B (standing)
Celebrant The Lord be with you.
People And also with you.
Celebrant L ift up your hearts.
People We lift them to the Lord.
Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People It is right to give him thanks and praise.
It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
Here a Proper Preface is sung or said on all Sundays, and on other occasions as appointed.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name: Sanctus (sans Chords)
Please remain standing as you are able.
We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life.
On the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
Therefore, according to his command, O Father,
All We remember his death, We proclaim his resurrection, We await his coming in glory;
And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine.
We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with Saint Michael and all your saints, we may enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation.
By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever. AMEN.
And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,
All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
Celebrant Alleluia. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us; People Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia.
Celebrant The Gifts of God for the People of God. Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving.
All are invited to come forward to the two standing stations for Communion at the direction of the ushers. Gluten free wafers are available upon request.
