FROM THE RECTOR

TODAY AT SAINT MICHAEL

The Rev. Dr. Christopher D. Girata

We’re so glad you’ve joined us at Saint Michael today! We’d love to get to know you better, so please take a moment to fill out the welcome card, either physically or digitally, that can be found on the opposite page or in the pew back in front of you. Our Welcome Team members are in the hallways today to help you with anything you need. Today we begin the sacred season of Advent. I hope you’ll make plans to join us for some of our special Advent services, such as today’s Advent Lessons & Carols service at 4 p.m. in the church. In addition, there are many major outreach initiatives such as I Believe in Angels and Heart of Giving. Volunteers are in the hallways today to help you extend your impact to our neighbors. As we prepare to worship together, I invite you to take a moment and center yourself on God’s presence. Worshiping, learning, and giving together help us grow closer to who God created us to be, and you’re part of that work. May God bless you today and every day, and I hope to see you again very soon!

For the Poor and Neglected in the Book of Common Prayer: Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before you all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick, and all who have none to care for them. Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit, and to turn their sorrow into joy. Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for our sake became poor, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Annual Giving Campaign Giving to our annual stewardship campaign, Building the Kingdom, is an essential practice that supports Saint Michael’s shared mission and ministry, including our growing staff, campus, and programs. While essential to our operations, giving annually is an incredibly important spiritual discipline. An annual gift represents our stewardship of the time, talents, and treasures that God gives freely to each one of us. Giving back to God’s work through Saint Michael is a sign of gratitude and a key part of deepening our discipleship identity. It’s our turn to invest in our future. As you evaluate your annual stewardship gift, we also ask you to please join us in Building our Future.
