The Twenty-Fourth Sunday after Pentecost Holy Eucharist Rite II The service begins on page 355 of The Book of Common Prayer.

The Word of God Dutch organist Klaas Bolt was organist of the worldrenowned Müller organ of the St. Bavo church in Haarlem, Netherlands. An avid improviser, he won the Haarlem International Organ Improvisation Competition in both 1956 and 1957. In addition to his church duties Bolt often performed in the Netherlands and abroad. He also served as an advisor for roughly 200 organ restoration/building projects. Bolt frequently presented organ demonstrations, showing the instrument’s many colors through improvisations based on hymn tunes. Today’s prelude and postlude are the fruits of such a presentation. After the initial introduction of the hymn tune, the listener is presented with a variety of clever variations, ranging from a fugue to bagpipes. The postlude showcases the final variation of this wonderful set.

The Holy Communion Offertory Anthem (sung by the Saint Michael Choir and Choristers) In June of 2012, “The Call of Wisdom” was presented on the occasion of a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral, for the 60th Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, performed by the specially auditioned Diamond Choir, formed of children from all over the UK, alongside choristers of St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Chapel Royal, conducted by Andrew Carwood. The text is an adaptation from Proverbs 8 by Michael Hampel, Precentor of St. Paul’s Cathedral, that implores the listener to place their trust in a faithful God. Todd employs arching melodies and beautifully simple harmonies that are underpinned by a gentle organ accompaniment.

André Jerome Thomas is an American composer and conductor. He served as a professor of music at the College of Music at Florida State University and the artistic director for the Tallahassee Community Chorus. SAINT MICHAEL YOUTH SKI TRIP Registration ends today!

The Saint Michael Youth are hitting the slopes in Winter Park, CO over MLK weekend this year and we would love for you to join us! This trip is a great opportunity for our high schoolers to reengage their faith at the beginning of the new year. VETERAN’S DAY CLOTHING COLLECTION: Today is the final day to turn in donations for the Veteran’s Day Clothing Collection sponsored by the Men of Saint Michael. Your generosity will make a huge impact on the lives of our homeless veterans.

VNA MEALS ON WHEELS Saint Michael’s parishioners deliver meals to 4,000 Dallas County seniors who are homebound. Volunteers are needed to deliver routes once a month, and deliveries take just over an hour. Meals on Wheels is also looking for businesses that wish to deliver multiple routes on one designated day.
