Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. We are privileged this weekend to have with us Br. James Koester, Superior of the Society of St. John the Evangelist, who led yesterday’s Lenten Quiet Day Retreat, and is preaching today at 9:00 and 11:00 in the Church. There are numerous opportunities for you at Saint Michael during Lent, one of which is the Candlelight Eucharist on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 in Saint Michael Chapel. Thank you for worshiping with us today, and join us often. Saint Michael Presents the Vocal Majority Tonight. The internationally acclaimed Vocal Majority will perform tonight at the Saint Michael Presents community concert in the church at 7:00. The 100+ men’s chorus has sung throughout the United States and Europe, and for three U.S. Presidents. The concert is free of charge. Lent Meditation Booklets Available. Lenten Mediation booklets with daily reflections written by parishioners, clergy, and staff of Saint Michael are available at several locations at the church. The meditations are also on the church website at www.saintmichael.org. Living With Grief: Four Week Class During Lent. This four week class will explore the practical and emotional experiences that come with the loss of a loved one. The series will be led by Connie Webb, a financial planner and widow of the Rev. Jim Webb, and Fran Shelton, founder of Faith and Grief Ministries. The first class, Emotional Consequences of Loss taught by Ms. Shelton, will meet today at 10:00 in the Parlor. Saint Michael Blood Drive Scheduled for Sunday, March 19. The Spring Blood Drive at Saint Michael, in partnership with the American Red Cross, will be on Sunday, March 19 from 8:00 to 1:00 in the ESD Library. To register for a time to give blood go to www.redcrossblood.org, look for the blue box in the upper right of the page and enter sponsor code saintmichael. You will be able schedule the time to give blood. Students at least 16 years of age are eligible to give! Thank You Reception for Music Directors on April 2 A Thank You/Farewell reception in the Garden Cloister for music directors James Diaz and Hyeon Jeong will be Sunday, April 2 following the 11:00 worship services. From 9:00 to 12:00 the women will engage in gardening, working with children at Davids’ Place and Jeanie’s Place, conducting Senior Bingo, or decorating for the Jubilee Health Fair the following day. Several east Dallas neighborhoods will get together Sunday night, March 19 for the next in the Neighborhood Nights series. The event will be at the home of Chandler and Jeff Winslow, 9735 Robin Hill Circle for parishioners living in the Lake Highlands, White Rock Lake, Lakewood, and M Streets areas. The only agenda is getting to know neighbors that go to Saint Michael. It’s a great opportunity to introduce a friend or neighbor to the church. RSVP to www.saintmichael.org/neighborhood-nights. Jubilee Park Needs Book Buddies. Book Buddies is a one-on-one reading/mentoring program for O.M. Roberts 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students having challenges with reading. Jubilee Mother-Daughter Tea to be March 25: Volunteers Needed. Women’s History Month will be celebrated at Jubilee Park’s Annual Mother-Daughter Tea. It will be at the Community Center on Saturday, March 25 from 11:30 – 2:30. PT Cruisers to Tour Holocaust Museum March 16. Touring the downtown Dallas Holocaust Museum is the next trip on the PT Cruisers schedule on Thursday, March 16. The group last week heard a presentation by the museum’s education director, Dr. Charlotte Decoster. The bus leaves the church at 9:30. Following the tour, lunch will be at the Spaghetti Warehouse. The search team charged with calling a new organist/choirmaster for Saint Michael and All Angels has scheduled a Listening Session for Sunday, March 26 at 10:00 in the Theater. The Rector will discuss his vision for the church’s music program, the committee will report on its activities, and will seek input from parishioners. The search committee is chaired by former Senior Warden Stuart Thomas and includes Kelley Christian, Suzanne Lipscomb, The Rev. Lisa Flores Musser, and Vestry and choir member Chris Wiley.
