Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Today we are privileged to have Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University, with us. She is preaching at the 9:00 and 11:00 worship services in the Church, and concludes her Distinguished Lecture Series at 10:00 in Saint Michael Chapel. The Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter worship schedules are included in this edition and online. Plan to worship with us often. Palm Sunday to Celebrate Family Worship. This year Palm Sunday worship will be a celebration of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem for the entire family. At both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services parishioners are encouraged to gather at the ESD porte cochere for the Liturgy of the Palms and the parade to the Church led by bagpipes, drums, and fifes. The Joy Mass and Discovery Mass will join the service in the Church for family worship. At 11:00 those attending the Celebration service will continue to Parish Hall following the Liturgy of the Palms. A light reception will be available in the South Lanai between the worship services. University Park Neighborhood Nights is Tonight. Parishioners living in University Park will get together tonight at the home of Phoebe and Carl Moore at 3713 Wentwood Drive from 5:00 to 6:30 for a Saint Michael Neighborhood Night. The main agenda is getting to know your Saint Michael neighbors. RSVP online at www.saintmichael.org/neighborhood-nights. Hunter Ruffin to Start New Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. The Rev. Hunter Ruffin has been called to start a new church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. His last Sunday at Saint Michael is May 7. A celebration of his ministry will be Sunday, April 30. St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange to Host Chef and Author on Thursday. Sylvia Casares, renowned chef and author, will be at St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange Thursday, April 6 to meet customers and sign her new book, The Enchilada Queen Cookbook. Her co-author, Dotty Griffith, former food editor of the Dallas Morning News, will join Sylvia at the book signing from 2:00 – 3:00 at The Exchange in Highland Park Village. Thank You Reception for Music Directors Today Join us after the 11:00 worship services today to thank our music directors James Diaz and Hyeon Jeong for nearly 20 years of ministry and wish them Godspeed as they pursue new performing and composing opportunities. Register at www.saintmichael.org/children/theedge. Two Easter Egg Hunts Planned Saturday, April 15. There will be Easter Eggs galore on Saturday April 15. Two Easter Egg hunts will be held: one at 10:00 for children in the second grade and younger on the Saint Michael Episcopal School playground, and a “Glow in the Dark” hunt at 7:30 for the 3rd – 5th graders on the ESD field. Easter Merchandise Arrives at the Book Shop. The Book Shop is budding with the signs of spring and the Easter season. There is a great selection of handmade Easter Eggs from Germany in bright colors. And, there are darling paper mache rabbits and chicks made in the Philippines from which to choose. Come experience spring in the Book Shop.

The initiative to Refresh, Renew, and Revive our worship spaces this spring is gathering momentum. The goal is to have the necessary funds by Palm Sunday. A $300,000 gift from several parishioners will repair the “Creation Window” in the church, while another $300,000 from the congregation will be used to enhance worship spaces in the church and Parish Hall. Easter Offerings Reach Out to Help Neighbors. All of our Easter Offerings will go to three ministries that remind us to love the Lord our God and to love our neighbors as ourselves. The offerings will be divided equally between: Jubilee Park and Community Center – a catalyst for community renewal and enrichment; Kaleidoscope Institute - equiping leaders to create sustainable churches and communities; and Episcopal Migration Ministries - a foundation for people forced from home and country to thrive in communities across the United States. Easter Flower Memorials. If you would like to remember a loved one this Easter, fill out one of the Flower Memorial envelopes enclosed in the worship bulletin with the names of those you want to honor and return it with your check by Sunday, April 9. Flower Memorial envelopes are also available at the reception desk. Bring A Special Easter to Saint Michael Homebound. The beautiful Easter Altar flowers are delivered after worship services to parishioners in the hospital or homebound. Help make Easter a little brighter for those in need by delivering some of the flowers on Easter afternoon. It will take about two hours and will brighten your celebration, too. Project Moses, Saint Michael’s ministry to combat human trafficking, meets Wednesday, April 5 in the Coke Activities Room beginning at 5:30. A light dinner will be served. Be a part of the first Women of Saint Michael’s Day-of-Service Friday, April 7 at Jubilee Park and Community Center, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. The women will engage in gardening, working with children at Davids’ Place and Jeanie’s Place, conducting Senior Bingo, or decorating for the Jubilee Health Fair. Jubilee Park and Community Center Honored by SMU. The Jubilee Park and Community Center was honored Wednesday with a Luminary Award by SMU’s Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development. On Sunday, April 23 we will celebrate Jubilee Sunday with our neighbors from Jubilee Park. Prime Timers Start Spring Gardening. At its Thursday, April 6 meeting, the Prime Timers will hear author Shelley Cramm on the Gardens of the Bible: from Eden to Gethsemane. The meeting begins at 10:30 in the Coke Activities Room. The Knitting Ministry is knitting 100 scarves and hats to be given at the annual Seniors Christmas Luncheon in Jubilee Park. Knitters are needed to finish a scarf or hat a month to meet the goal.
