A Thank You and Goodbye reception for Erika Bower, Assistant Director of Children and Family Ministry, will be in the Garden Cloister this morning at 10:00 a.m. She has been a leader in our children’s ministries since June of 2014. Erika is leaving to be Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry at an Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. Vestry and Diocesan Delegate Nominations Are Open. Nominations are open for people to serve on the Vestry and as Diocesan Convention Delegates beginning in January 2018. The Vestry recently changed the Church’s Bylaws so that Vestry members and Convention delegates will be elected in the fall, beginning their terms on January 1 of the following year. Five new Vestry members and new Convention Delegates will be elected at a Parish Annual Meeting in October/November. The deadline to submit nominations is 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 18, 2017. Nomination forms are available from the church receptionist and online at www.saintmichael.org. The forms should be returned to the South Lanai receptionist. Join Our Ministry To Fight Human Trafficking. The next Project Moses meeting will be on Wednesday, June 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the Coke Activities Room. Our rector, The Reverend Chris Girata, will join us to discuss the direction of Project Moses and our plans to impact Human Trafficking. Join us as this new ministry begins its work. Associate for Formation Called After a nationwide search, Saint Michael and All Angels is pleased to welcome The Rev. Dr. Eric Liles as our new Associate for Formation. Eric will have the responsibility of leading our Adult Formation program directly and crafting a vision for all of Christian formation at the church. Eric is a 1999 graduate of Texas A&M, a 2007 graduate of Virginia Seminary, and received his Doctor of Ministry from Sewanee in 2015. Eric has served churches in Austin, Texas, and Alabama. He comes to us after serving 5 years as Rector of St. Paul’s in Ivy, Virginia. Eric is married to The Rev. Allison Liles. They have two children, Hill and Pailet. Eric enjoys cycling, golf, hiking, other outdoor activities, and plays guitar. He is also an Eagle Scout. Eric will begin his ministry on August 15.

Volunteer at Fair Park’s Olympic Day Games for Kids. The Fair Park Olympic Day, June 21 – 23, is an opportunity for kids in the Jubilee Park and Fair Park neighborhoods to experience a summer day camp with Olympians and Paralympians. Volunteers are needed to serve as team leaders each day from 8:30 to 3:30. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and youth volunteers can earn up to 32 hours of community service. More information and applications are available at the South Lanai reception desk. Water Park Day at Hawaiian Falls! Take a break from the heat at the water park on Thursday, June 22nd. We will meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. and return by 5:00 p.m. The cost is $25 and includes a water park ticket, a walk up meal, and unlimited drinks. The Prayer Ministry will meet on June 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Coke Activities Room for Case Training by Popular Request. Enneagram Class Sign Up Available. Enneagram, an ancient personality tool that assesses our relationships with God and people close to us, continues to gain popularity today. The Rev. Mary Lessmann and Mary Ann Webster will facilitate the 12 weekly Enneagram sessions this fall beginning September 6 at 6:30 in the evening. Education for Ministry, an extension course from the University of the South School of Theology, is for laypersons seeking knowledge, community, and spiritual growth.
