Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church and Happy Fathers Day! There have been two exciting announcements recently: the hiring of a new Director of Music and an Associate for Formation. Read more about them in this edition of Sunday News or online. Many Bible study and small groups continue to meet during the summer. Check the website calendar for the schedules. Thank you for worshiping with us today and remember when you travel, Saint Michael’s 9:00 and 11:11 worship services are streamed at www.saintmichael.org/live. Serve at The Gathering Next Sunday. Next Sunday, June 25, Saint Michael will serve at The Gathering, the church for the homeless, in downtown Dallas. Volunteers are needed to cook on Saturday and serve on Sunday following the 1:00 p.m. worship service. Sign up online at www.saintmichael.org/missionoutreach/serve-now. Vestry and Diocesan Delegate Nominations Are Open. Nominations are open for 5 Vestry members and for Diocesan Convention Delegates with terms beginning in January, 2018. Vestry members and Convention delegates will be elected at a parish meeting this fall with terms beginning January 1. The deadline to submit nominations is 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 18. Nomination forms are available from the church receptionist and online at www.saintmichael.org. The forms should be returned to the receptionist at the South Lanai. Associate for Formation Called. The Rev. Dr. Eric Liles has been called as the new Associate for Formation. He will lead all of the church’s formation programs including Adult, Youth, and Children and Family ministries. Eric has served churches in Austin and Alabama, and for the past five years has been Rector of St. Paul’s in Ivy, Virginia. Eric will begin his ministry at Saint Michael on August 15. The market specializes in farm-grown produce and meats, and a variety of food products including cheeses, desserts, tamales, breakfast tacos, spices, and oils. Find a complete list of vendors and their products on the Farmers Market website, www. saintmichaelsmarket.com. The market is open Saturdays from 8:00 – 12:00 Noon. Care Givers Support Group meets on the first and third Mondays of each month. 11:00 to 12:30 in the Parlor to provide support to those who have the responsibility of caring for a loved one. Contact, Sandra Klingeman jsklingeman@sbcglobal.net. Director of Music – Organist Called Jonathan Ryan has been called by the Rector to be Saint Michael’s new Director of Music and Organist. He currently serves as Associate Director of Music at Christ Church in Greenwich, Connecticut where he coordinated the music program’s 9 choirs, including an adult choir and multiple children and youth choirs. An acclaimed concert organist, Ryan holds six first prize awards from national and international organ competitions. His first Sunday at Saint Michael will be September 10. Saint Michael Ties On Sale. A specially designed Saint Michael tie is now available online at www. saintmichael.org. The tie weaves the Angel and Women of Saint Michael logos in a creative design that can be worn for any occasion; dinner parties, work, even church. In addition to traditional styles, bow ties, youth ties, and pocket scarves are available in blue, red, and yellow. All proceeds go to the Women of Saint Michael gifts committee that supports charities and Episcopal ministries addressing hunger and poverty.


Donate Fabric for Honduras Threads Mission Trip. The Honduras Threads Mission trip, June 26 – 30, needs fabric to take to the women in the village co-ops. Women – Word – Work Summer Refreshment. While many study groups recess for summer, Women – Word – Work continues to meet. Geared toward women who work outside of the home, Women – Word – Work meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. in the Chapel Conference Room. Fair Park’s Olympic Day Games for Kids. The Fair Park Olympic Day Games, June 21 – 23, is an opportunity for kids in the Jubilee Park and Fair Park neighborhoods to experience a summer day camp with Olympians and Paralympians. Volunteers are needed to serve as team leaders each day from 8:30 to 3:30. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and youth volunteers can earn up to 32 hours of community service. Water Park Day at Hawaiian Falls! Take a break from the heat at the water park on Thursday, June 22nd. We will meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. and return by 5:00 p.m. The cost is $25 and includes a water park ticket, a walk up meal, and unlimited drinks. Enneagram, an ancient personality tool that assesses our relationships with God and people close to us, continues to gain popularity today. The Rev. Mary Lessmann and Mary Ann Webster will facilitate the 12 weekly Enneagram sessions this fall beginning September 6 at 6:30 in the evening. Education for Ministry, an extension course from the University of the South School of Theology, is for laypersons seeking knowledge, community, and spiritual growth.
