Followers of Christ, Spreading God’s Love

Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Today we are Celebrating America and enjoying Pie for the 4th of July in the Garden Cloister. The Honduras Threads Mission trip and the Rector’s pilgrimage tracing the ministry of St. Paul leave this week. Keep Saint Michael’s pilgrims and missioners in your prayers. This past week we announced that Justin Brooks is joining the staff as Director of Modern Worship Music. Read more about him and his family in this edition or online. Thank you for worshiping with us today. Vestry Sets October 29 Parish Meeting for Elections. Pilgrimage Tracing St. Paul’s Ministry Leaves This Week – Follow Online. Saint Michael’s pilgrimage cruise tracing the ministry of St. Paul leaves this week. The group, led by the Rector, Chris Girata, will visit sites where St. Paul preached in Rome, Athens and Corinth, Ephesus, and Malta. You can follow the pilgrimage with highlights by the Rector online at www.saintmichael.org. Invite a Friend to Learn About Saint Michael. Do you have a friend or neighbor that should be a member of Saint Michael and All Angels? This summer is a great time to invite them to the next Saint Michael 101 Dinner for newcomers and visitors. This dinner is for exploring membership, meeting members of our Clergy & Vestry, and hearing all about our many ministries, opportunities for involvement, and the exciting future of our parish. The Saint Michael 101 Dinner will be Sunday, September 24th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Coke Activities Room. Childcare will be available. Director of Modern Worship Music to Join Saint Michael Justin Brooks, a nationally recognized leader in modern worship music, will join Saint Michael and All Angels in early July. Working with Ashley Westgate and our current musicians, Brooks will lead the music for the Celebration and Discovery services, and will coordinate music for the children’s Joy Mass. A graduate of Dallas Baptist University, Brooks has performed and recorded throughout the country, and has released three albums of original songs and new hymn arrangements. Most recently he has served as Director of Contemporary Music at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation. In welcoming Brooks, Rector Girata said, “Justin has a unique perspective and passion for merging ancient faith practices with modern ways of worship which fits perfectly with the culture at Saint Michael.”
