It’s hard to believe but school is just around the corner, our new Rector starts in a week, our fall worship schedule returns on the 21st and Sunday School begins on the 28th. There are going to be great classes available for all ages. You can find descriptions at www.saintmichael.org. Saint Michael is an exciting place to be. Come and See. Enneagram is Coming – Get Ready. The Enneagram is a personality assessment tool that helps us to learn more about ourselves and how we are in relationship with God and people most important to us. The Rev. Mary Lessmann and Mary Ann Webster will facilitate the class beginning September 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Coke Activities Room. There’s no charge, but registration is necessary. Want to know more? Education for Ministry (EfM) is a study of Scriptures, Christian history, and theology with a focus on one’s everyday experiences. The program, from the University of the South – Sewanee’s Episcopal seminary, is recognized for educating adults to see God acting through their lives. Jubilee Park’s Back to After School Bash Needs Volunteers and Supplies. Jubilee Park’s annual Back to After School Bash on Thursday, September 8 is designed to get kids and their parents excited and motivated about the new school year. Saint Michael volunteers are needed to help with the activities at the Bash from 5:30 to 7:00. Mr. Donavan will be on hand, there will be food for the families, and school supplies will be distributed. Healthy snack donations such as granola bars, fruit and veggie chips are needed. The Prayer Ministry meets from 6:00 to 7:30 on Thursday, August 18 in the Coke Activities Room. Our August program will feature The Rev. New Rector Starts August 15 – Full Worship Schedule Returns August 21 Our new Rector, The Rev. Chris Girata, begins his ministry with us on Monday, August 15 and he will preach at the 9:00 and 11:00 worship services in the Church on Sunday, August 21, when we will return to our full schedule of services. At the 9:00 service we will recognize The Very Rev. Doug Travis, who served as our Interim Rector for 8 months. Additionally, we will kick off the new school year by Blessing-the-Backpacks at John 1:43-46 every service, and enjoy a Welcome and Thanks reception to embrace the Girata and Travis families beginning at 9:30 in the Garden Cloister.

Kids, dust off that Bible at the back of your shelf and bring it to our new Bible Study gathering on Sunday evenings beginning August 28. We will look at various books in the Bible, discuss their meaning and their impact on our lives today. We’ll meet at 5:30 in the Youth Center and head out to dinner afterwards. Faith and Grief Luncheon Scheduled August 11. On Thursday the Faith and Grief Luncheon will meet at 12:00-Noon in the Coke Activities Room, with Diana Pennington as our guest speaker. Take advantage of this opportunity to share lunch and conversation with others and learn how faith intersects with grief. The lunch is free but your donation is welcomed. Two dates have been set for Acolyte training in August and September and only one session is required. On Saturdays, August 27 and September 17 training will be held from 9:00 to 10:30. Leader of the Bolivia Amistad Mission to Speak at Saint Michael. Chris King, the executive director of the Amistad Mission in Bolivia, will lead a combined Faith and Literature and Family Summer Sunday School class on August 14 in Saint Michael Chapel. A luncheon at 12:00 in the Coke Activities Room will discuss the mission trip to Bolivia and Amistad October 7 – 15. The lunch is free, but donations to the mission will be appreciated.
