WELCOME TO SAINT MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS EPISCOPAL CHURCH. There is a lot going on today, but don’t forget the fantastic Wednesday afternoon and evening programs for children and youth; there is Faith Lab, Edge Boys and Girls Bible Study, Axis for middle schoolers and Crosspoint for high school students. During the week there are a lot of Bible and book studies for adults. At Saint Michael, there’s plenty of ways to get connected. Thanks for worshiping with us today.

SHELTER MINISTRIES HEAD – JAN LANGBEIN – TODAY AT THE FORUM. Jan Langbein, CEO of Shelter Ministries, will bring their story of Faith and Society to the Forum at 10:00 in Saint Michael Chapel. Shelter Ministries is the parent organization to Genesis Women’s Shelter and the Austin Street Center, both of which are supported by Saint Michael and All Angels. The Adult Bible Class will resume October 4 in the Coke Room with Dr. Howard Cohen discussing “Everything you wanted to know about Judaism, but were afraid to ask.”

PARISH NURSES TALK ABOUT THE FLU. Today is Parish Nurse Sunday. There will be Registered Nurses in the South Lanai to discuss flu and pneumonia prevention and treatment. They can also take your blood pressure and answer other health questions.

INQUIRERS’ SERIES BEGINS SEPTEMBER 23. Do you want to know more about the Episcopal Church and Saint Michael and All Angels? The Inquirers’ Series begins Wednesday evening September 23 from 6:30 to 8:00, culminating with Confirmation on Sunday, November 8. Meeting in the Coke Activities Room, the series welcomes newcomers, long-time members, skeptics, or those recharging their faith. It’s a great way to introduce friends to our church. The Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels Saint Michael’s 70th Anniversary and Farewell to the Dannals Next Sunday at the Feast of Saint Michael we will honor our 7th Decade Parishioners during a combined worship service at 10:00 in the Church. SCHOOL PREVIEW NIGHT - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 AT 7:00. Saint Michael Episcopal School is hosting it’s first School Preview Night. Parents will be able to visit with several area private schools about their admissions processes/deadlines and educational programs, and speak with representatives from Highland Park elementary schools. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AT JUBILEE PARK, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6. Be a part of one of the largest National Night Out celebrations at Jubilee Park on Tuesday, October 6 from 5:00 to 8:00. It’s an opportunity to support crime prevention, police-community partnerships, and have fellowship with Jubilee Park residents. We need several volunteers to help with the evening’s events. BACKPACKS 4 KIDS PROVIDES WEEKEND FOOD FOR AT-RISK CHILDREN. The Backpack 4 Kids fundraiser continues through September, which is National Hunger Awareness Month. As 1 in 3 children in Dallas Public Schools qualify for the weekend backpack the need is critical. Volunteers will be outside the Book Shop to take your donations. Any amount helps - $5 a week, $20 a month, $200 for the 40 week school year or $260 for an entire year. Checks, cash, and credit cards are accepted.

MEN OF SAINT MICHAEL BREAKFAST FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25. The Men of Saint Michael will look into the heritage of Abraham, considered the father of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam at its monthly breakfast Friday, September 25 at 7:00 in the Coke Activities Room.

The Rev. Bill Murray will lead the discussion.

GRIEF WORKSHOP BEGINS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23. A six-week workshop, “Comfort and Hope for the Journey of Grief,” will be held on Wednesday evenings from September 23 to October 28. The workshop, led by the Faith and Grief organization, will meet in the Chapel Conference Room, 5:30-7:30. There is no fee. PRIME TIMERS LEARN ABOUT DALLAS FARMERS MARKET AND ITS NEW LOOK. The Prime Timers will welcome Amanda Vanhoosier, Director of Market Operations for the Dallas Farmers Market in Downtown Dallas, on Thursday, October 1, at 10:30 in the Coke Activities Room. GOOD SHEPHERD’S ANNUAL MEETING AND LUNCHEON OCTOBER 8. Saint Michael’s Good Shepherds, the neighbor-helping-neighbor ministry, will have its Annual Meeting and Luncheon Thursday, October 8 at 11:30 in the Youth Center. There are nearly 200 shepherds caring for parishioners in more than 100 neighborhoods. STRESS RELIEVER SIP ‘N’ DOODLE SCHEDULED OCTOBER 11. How about a nice cup of tea, yummy snacks, some relaxing music, and coloring? The adult coloring book trend, the new stress reliever, is booming. All you need to bring is yourself and your need for relaxation and good conversation. Spend a lovely, no-stress, Sunday afternoon at 2:00, in the Edge Room. This is an adult-only gathering. Childcare is available by reservation.

SPORT FIELD OPENING DELAYED. The opening of the new sports field on the north campus has been delayed to give the grass more time to grow. The extremely hot temperatures of late August and early September slowed the growth. The field will open in mid-October.
