We are glad you are worshiping with us, want to know you better, and answer any questions you have. Discovery – A Course About Our Church. Discovery, a 5-week course about the legacy and aspirations of our church, begins today. The course, led by the Rector Chris Girata, explores the history of Christianity, the Anglican Church, and Saint Michael’s mission in Dallas. Held each Sunday in October the session begins with lunch ($10) at 12:15 p.m. in the Coke Activities Room. Register at: saintmichael. org/discoveryclass Honduras Mission Trip Meeting Tonight. A meeting to discuss, plan, and recruit participants for next February’s mission trip to Tela, Honduras is this evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Parlor. The meeting will provide details about the mission trip and how to be involved in this important project. Saint Michael and All Angels is collecting personal hygiene kits and school supplies for families impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Working with the Diocese of Texas, we are responding to the needs of families in three Houston elementary schools. Many families in these schools have lost their income and have provided shelter for other families. A list of the needed items is at several locations throughout the church. Put your items in a large ziplock bag and drop it in the receptacles in the North and South Lanais. Compline at Canterbury House Tonight – Join Us. Saint Michael and All Angels will initiate a weekly Compline service at Canterbury House at SMU this evening at 8:00 p.m. Compline is the last church service of the day, providing an opportunity to quiet our minds and ask God for a peaceful rest. Join us and support Saint Michael’s new ministry at SMU. The Canterbury House is located at 3308 Daniel, just east of Hillcrest. National Night Out at Jubilee Park Tuesday, October 3. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes policecommunity partnerships. This year’s event is Tuesday, October 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. We need your help with Registration, Concessions, at the Kids’ Zone and with setup and clean up. This is a FANTASTIC event for the whole family. High school students can get volunteer hours. To volunteer, contact Ovidia Amaya at oamaya@jubileecenter.org. Rector’s Bible Study Wednesdays: Available Online. The new Rector’s Bible Study began last Wednesday studying the Gospel According to Luke. The class meets on Wednesdays at 11:00 in the Coke Activities Room. If you miss a class or want to hear it again, it’s available online at saintmichael.org/rectorsbiblestudy.

Pizza...Serious Service: Youth Meeting This Evening. Join the Youth and their families to hear about Stewardship 2018's Service-OverSelf, while indulging in Deep Ellum’s SERIOUS PIZZA. We’ll launch service projects to benefit the Dallas Animal Shelter and the children at the Amistad Mission in Bolivia. It starts this evening at 5:30 in the Youth Center. Our new Boys Life Group will meet every Sunday after the 11:00 a.m. church service for lunch, fellowship, and Bible study. Member Website Portal Being Activated. In order to better communicate Saint Michael has developed a website where you will be able to update your information, add a photo of you or your family, check your giving history, or search the parish directory. In the coming weeks watch your inbox for a special invitation to login. It will contain your username and a temporary password.

Nativity Pageant Tryouts. Help us retell one of the greatest stories of our faith. Tryouts for the nativity pageant will be held for 3rd8th graders On October 8 and 15 from 12:30-2:30. Children ages 3 – 2nd grade will participate as stars, animals, shepherds and angels. The younger children will be assigned roles according to age/grade. Confirmation Listening Sessions Scheduled. Two Confirmation Listening Sessions will be held in October to discuss proposals to change the ages at which we confirm our youth. Gray Malin Book Signing at St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange. Gray Malin, Dallas native and New York Times bestselling author, will be at the St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange Friday, October 13 to sign his latest book, Escape. Malin’s work includes images from 22 destinations across 11 countries. He will be at the Exchange in Highland Park Village from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Prime Timers Go Wild in October. “If I could talk to the animals.” Well now you can! On Thursday, October 5 the Prime Timers will host some very special guests; some of our favorite animals from the Dallas Zoo. Faith and Medicine Discussed at Pastoral Care Gathering October 18. Dr. Robert Fine, director of Clinical Ethics and Palliative Care at Baylor Scott and White in Dallas, will explore faith, human spirituality, and life’s meaning at a special Pastoral Care gathering on Wednesday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Dr. Paul Chafetz, author of Loving Hard-to-Love Parents, will address an open meeting of Saint Michael’s Stephen Ministry on Monday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Coke Activities Room. Dr. Chafetz provides the tools to: emotionally cope, love hard-to-love relatives, and create legacies for children.
