CitySquare Director to lead The Forum – Faith and Society. Larry James has led CitySquare for more than 20 years. Its programs are credited with addressing poverty issues and turning around lives through service, advocacy, and friendship. He will discuss CitySquare’s programs at 10:00 in the Saint Michael Chapel. October is Women’s Health Month. The Parish Nurse Ministry is focusing on Women’s Health Month. Today you can consult with a Parish Nurse regarding women’s health issues or other related questions. Contact Dianne Boyd, dboyd@ saintmichael.org. Cuba Missionaries Leave on Friday. The final mission trip to San Bernabe parish in Cuba departs on Friday. The missioners will be working alongside members of the local parish to finish remodeling their new church home, which Saint Michael and All Angels helped purchase. Please keep our missioners and the parish in your prayers over the next week. Vestry and Diocesan Delegate Nominations Are Open. Nominations are being accepted for people to serve on the vestry for a three year term beginning in February 2016, and for delegates to serve at the Diocesan Convention in 2016. They will be elected at the Annual Meeting of the Parish on February 28, 2016. The deadline to submit nominations is 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 4. Nomination forms are available from the church receptionist and online at www.saintmichael.org. Women Of Saint Michael Luncheon Features Jann Mackey. Jann Mackey will address the Women of Saint Michael on Wednesday, October 21. Jann is a frequent lecturer in SMU’s Continuing and Professional Education programs as well as for local historic preservation organizations. She is on the board of Preservation Dallas and the Saint Michael and All Angels Foundation. Jann will discuss “Historic Neighborhoods of Dallas: The Heart of the City.” The luncheon will begin at 11:30 in Parish Hall. Tickets to all of the Women’s programs are available online at www.saintmichael.org/wosmluncheons. Stewardship Sunday is Sweet! Today is Stewardship Sunday as we kickoff our fall giving campaign. If you have already pledged go by the St. Mary’s Guild table in the South Lanai and pick out your favorite sweet. If you haven’t pledged yet, there are cards at the tables. So pledge and get your sweet. At 10:00, Saint Michael’s youth (grades 6 – 12) and their parents will launch Stewardship 2016 in the Youth Center with breakfast and Matt Hess from the World Hunger Relief Farm with his Veggie Truck and goat. Bishop-Elect George Sumner to Preach at Saint Michael October 25. Come welcome bishop-elect George Sumner to our diocese on Sunday, October 25. The Rev. Sumner will preach at the 9:00 and 11:00 services in the church. The Bishop-Elect’s consecration will be 11:00 Saturday, November 14 at First United Methodist Church at Ross and Harwood. The Holidays are Coming: Stock Up on Your Greenery and Support our Choir. The St. Dunstan’s choir guild will begin selling Christmas Wreathes and Greenery next Sunday. St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange Opens New Store Tomorrow – Book Signing on Thursday. The St. Michael Woman’s Exchange opens its newly remodeled store in Highland Park Village tomorrow. On Thursday, October 22, the Exchange will have a book signing with Southern Living Magazine’s editor-at-large Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, author of Monograms for the Home from 1:00 to 3:00. The shop is next to the new grocery store and just a few steps from its previous location. Run by volunteers, it is open from 9:30 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday. Men of Saint Michael Plan BBQ. The Men of Saint Michael are getting ready for their autumn BBQ. On Thursday evening, October 22, the Men will gather at the home of Bob Penn at 6:00. They will gather again on Friday, October 30 for the monthly breakfast and a discussion of Ishmael from the Book of Genesis. The breakfast starts at 7:00 in the Coke Activities Room. October 23-25 is Honduras Threads Annual Studio Sale at Craighead Green Gallery, 1011 Dragon Street in the Design District.
