The reading of the Necrology will begin 5 minutes before the regular worship times at most services. Incense will be used at the 11:00 a.m. Church service. Thank you for worshiping with us today. If you are new, visit our Welcome Center in the Parlor so that we may get to know you and answer any questions you have. Eric Law Headlines Distinguished Lecture Series. Eric Law, an Episcopal priest, founder and executive director of the Kaleidoscope Institute, will be the Distinguished Lecturer Saturday, November 11. The Kaleidoscope Institute works to create inclusive and sustainable churches and communities. Law’s lecture from 9:00 – 12:00 will be in the Coke Activities Room. The cost is $10. Saint Michael Christmas Ornament Available in the Book Shop The Saint Michael 2017 Christmas ornament has arrived in the Book Shop!! The ornament, designed by parishioner and choir member Susan Johnson, features three children choristers, a harbinger of the new generation leadership guiding musical excellence in the church. Men of Saint Michael to BBQ on November 15. The Men of Saint Michael are going to the home of Katherine and Bob Penn for Barbeque, Brews, and Banter on Wednesday, November 15. The Rev. Dr. Eric Liles will outline the upcoming activities of the group, including a planned mission trip to the Corpus Christi area to aid Hurricane Harvey victims. The Barbeque starts at 6:00 p.m. at 4308 Overhill Drive and the cost is $20. RSVP at saintmichael.org/mensbbq. I Believe in Angels Underway – Adopt an Angel. I Believe in Angels provides Christmas gifts for children and seniors living in the Jubilee Park neighborhood. Adopt an angel and return the gifts by Sunday, December 8. Volunteers are needed to help sort gifts on Friday, December 15 and at the family “shopping” day on Saturday, December 16. The speaker at the November 9 Faith and Grief Luncheon is Sherry Rodgers from Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney. Saint Michael’s Youth Prepare College Care Packages This Week. Our high school youth will gather in the Youth Center Wednesday to prepare Care Packages for our college parishioners. Needed items include; breakfast foods, small umbrellas, packs of cookies and gum, Starbucks cards, pencils, highlighters, and hand sanitizer. Send the name of your college student and mailing address to Lauren at lwainwright@saintmichael.org. Registration Open for Youth Summer Mission Trips. Two Mission Trips are planned for Saint Michael’s youth this summer: one to Anchorage and the other to the Amistad Mission in Bolivia. The Challenge of Being a Caregiver – Sunday November 12. Steve Roland of Mind, Heart, and Soul Ministries will discuss the challenge of being a caregiver for loved ones with memory loss. Roland blends practical, science-based and medically-sound advice with a strong statement of God’s presence in caregivers’ lives. Women of Saint Michael Luncheon Features Leader of Visiting Nurses Association. Katherine Krause, President and CEO of the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), will speak at the November luncheon of the Women of Saint Michael Wednesday, November 8. She will talk about the “Common Misconceptions About Hospice” in a frank, open discussion about end of life care. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. in Parish Hall. Jubilee Park Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon. Love Thanksgiving? Join us for the Jubilee Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon on Thursday, November 16, from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. We need cooks to make green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pies. We are requesting donations for turkeys and then we need friends to carve the turkeys, decorate the hall, and serve the Seniors. Sign up at saintmichael.org/thanksgivingluncheon.

November is North Dallas Shared Ministries Month. Fill at least one grocery bag during November and bring it to the South Lanai. Suggested items: macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, tortillas, canned food items, saltine crackers. A more extensive list and grocery bags are available at several locations throughout the church. Financial contributions are just as valuable. Make checks payable to North Dallas Shared Ministries. St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange Sponsors Book Signing Tuesday, November 14. Laura Dowling, who planned the Christmas celebrations at the White House during the Obama administration, will be at St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange to sign her book, A White House Christmas. She will be at The Exchange in Highland Park Village from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. on November 14, sharing her experiences in creating displays ranging from flower vases of sugar to robotic versions of the First Family dogs. Children’s Sunday School Stewardship Outreach Project. Spark and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (children age 4-3rd grade) are collecting winter clothing items that will be distributed at The Gathering, the church for the homeless at Thanks-Giving Square. Collection boxes are in each Sunday School classroom for new hats, gloves, and scarves. Middle School Youth Collecting for Animal Shelter. As part of their Stewardship commitment, our middle school students are collecting supplies for the Dallas Animal Shelter. There is a donation basket in the Youth Center. Supplies needed include: cat beds, full-sized bath towels and fleece blankets, large dog toys, and treats. For more information email Chase Monson at cmonson@saintmichael.org. High School Youth Raising Money for Amistad Birthdays. Our high school youth are raising $2,000 to pay for birthday parties for approximately 80 children at the Amistad orphanage in Bolivia, which includes a cake and present. The cost is $25. Meals on Wheels Needs Holiday Drivers. Meals on Wheels, which provides food to the elderly and homebound in Dallas, needs volunteer drivers for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If you can drive a Meals on Wheels route on either day, contact Mary Bartholow at mary.bar@sbcglobal.net.
