Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. We are entering a busy, frenetic time of the year. Thanksgiving this week, followed by the Christmas season with its joyful, but hectic schedule. Be sure to make this a time for family and friends. Put on your calendar the Advent Retreat on December 3, Lessons and Carols on the 4th, Saint Michael Presents Christmas Concert on December 11, the Nativity Pageant on December 18, and more. Look online and in the Archangel for a complete list of holiday activities. There is a lot to be thankful for at Saint Michael. The Forum Class Returns to Saint Michael Chapel. The Forum Sunday School class returns to Saint Michael Chapel today. Lee Taft will teach the 10:00 session on “The Spirituality of Aging.” Today is Parish Nurse Sunday. The Saint Michael Parish Nurse Ministry is in the South Lanai today taking blood pressures and answering your health questions. Of particular interest today is prevention and treatment of flu and pneumonia. Questions? Contact Dianne Boyd at dboyd@saintmichael.org. Family Summer Pilgrimage Meeting Today. Rector Chris Girata will host a meeting this morning to share details of a Family Summer Pilgrimage tracing the journeys of St. Paul. The cruise, designed especially for families, will visit the cradle of Christianity, including Rome, Athens, Ephesus, and Corinth. The Rector will lead guided excursions to holy sites not available to the general public. The information meeting will be at 10:00 in the Parlor. Thanksgiving Eve Worship – 6:00 in Saint Michael Chapel. Bring the family and join us as we give thanks for our many blessing at Saint Michael’s Thanksgiving Eve worship at 6:00 in the Saint Michael Chapel. Our Rector, Chris Girata, will preach on “The Real Work of Thanksgiving.” It can be an inspiring way for you and your family to start the Thanksgiving Holidays. Schools Take Thanksgiving Break. Saint Michael Episcopal School and the Episcopal School of Dallas’ Lower School, both located on the church campus, will be on Thanksgiving Break this week. Classes will resume Monday, November 28. Saint Michael Presents Concert Nears “Sell Out.” Even though admission is free, tickets for the December 11 Saint Michael Presents concert, “A Conspirare Christmas” are nearly all taken. A limited number of tickets remain and may be picked up at the South Lanai reception. Communications Card Use the card to register as a guest, make prayer requests, RSVPs, and provide information on yourself. Need Prayer Prayer Teams can pray with you after Sunday morning services. Ushers can direct you to private prayer locations. Prayer Candles A $1 donation is appreciated for lit candles in the Bishop Moore and Saint Michael Chapels.

Homework and Bible Study. Join us each Sunday at 3:00! The Youth Center will be open for homework or study for an upcoming exam. Our youth interns will be around to help. Afterwards, stay for Bible study at 5:30 followed by dinner in Preston Center. Advent Family Night Wednesday, November 30. Make Advent a family season. Wednesday, November 30 will be Advent Family Night where you can make a Mason Jar Advent wreath, a “Reverse Advent Calendar,” even blue and pink sparkle goo. Dinner and activities begin at 6:00 in the Youth Center. Cost: $30 per family. Register online at www.saintmichael.org/advent-family-night. Paintball at Cousins Paintball Park - Register by November 30. Saint Michael's Youth will head to Cousins Paintball Park on Sunday afternoon December 4. The carpool will leave the church at 12:30 and return by 6:00. The cost is $40. Deadline to register is November 30th. There are only 15 spots available so sign up early! Entrance to the park, paintball gun, goggles, and mask will be provided. Register at www.saintmichael.org/youth LiveWIRE Christmas Party – December 7. LiveWIRE, our youths' Wednesday evening gettogether, will enjoy its Christmas Party December 7. There will be food, fun, and prizes for the tackiest and most creative sweaters! Middle School will meet from 5:30-6:30 and High School from 7:00-8:00. Dinner and dessert will be served for all at 6:30.

Saint Michael and All Angels Church will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 25. There will be no 7:00 a.m. Eucharist.


Vestry and Diocesan Delegate Nominations Are Open. Nominations are open for people to serve on the Vestry beginning in February, and for delegates to serve at the Diocesan Convention in the fall. The Vestry members (5) and Convention Delegates will be elected at the Annual Meeting on February 26. The deadline for nominations is 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 16. Nomination forms are available from the church receptionist and online at www.saintmichael.org. Book Signing Today at the Book Shop. Parishioner, Len Bourland, will be signing her new book, Normal’s Just a Cycle on a Washing Machine, today from 10:00 to 11:00 outside the shop. Come by and get a copy and have it signed! New Policy for Christmas Flower Memorials. In the next few week parishioners will be able to participate in the annual Flower Memorial booklet produced during the Christmas season. The contributions pay for the holiday flowers, trees, and greenery that decorate the Church. Beginning this year only those who contribute this season will be listed in the booklet. Advent Meditation Booklets Available Now. Devotions written by parishioners, staff, and clergy are available in the just published Advent Meditation booklet, which is available at several locations in the church and online at www.saintmichael.org. Meals on Wheels Needs Holiday Drivers. Meals on Wheels, which provides food to the elderly and homebound, needs volunteer drivers to cover routes on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. It can be a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday by bringing a meal and fellowship to people often forgotten. If you can drive a Meals on Wheels route on either day, contact Mary Bartholow at mary.bar@sbcglobal.net. Save the Date: February 24 – Stars at Night. Save Friday, February 24 for Saint Michael’s STELLAR Parish Party at Brook Hollow Golf Club. Get involved as a volunteer; help with underwriting, donate items for the live, silent, big board, and parish art auctions! Join the fun for a truly spectacular evening! Honduras Threads Pop-Up Sale December 4. See the new designs and new merchandise at the Honduras Threads Popup Sale Sunday, December 4 from 8:00 to 1:00 in the Parlor. There is a full range of gifts – pillows, Christmas tree skirts, table toppers and runners – all supporting the women in Honduras and their families.
