Christmas Offerings Designated for Outreach Ministries. The Christmas offerings, as every year, will be divided equally between local, national, and international outreach ministries: the North Texas Food Bank, Episcopal Relief and Development Domestic Disaster Relief Fund, and the Rome Refugee Ministry of St. Paul’s within the Walls Episcopal Church. “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.” “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled.” “Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.” Luke 6:20-21 11 Christmas Eve Services scheduled – Two to be Streamed. There will be 11 worship services on Christmas Eve beginning at 7:00 a.m. and concluding with the traditional “midnight” mass at 10:30 p.m. Several services are designed especially for families and young children. Two services, the 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., will be streamed live at www.saintmichael.org. A listing of service times and locations is available in your service bulletin, throughout the church, and on the website, www.saintmichael. org. Child care is available from 10:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

The Rev. Bob Johnston joins Saint Michael as Associate for Evangelism. The Rev. Bob Johnston has been called as Saint Michael and All Angels’ Associate for Evangelism. He will focus on our welcome ministry and on programs to attract new members and families. Bob has degrees in theology, law, and business from Southern Methodist University, and maintains an intellectual property law practice. Beginning January 4, Bob will be at Saint Michael two days a week; on Sundays, serving primarily in the 11:11 Celebration worship service, and one other day during the week. Most recently he helped start and lead the contemporary worship ministry, “Uptown,” at Church of the Incarnation, as well as the small group ministry, “Growth Groups,” and an outreach in local pubs known as “Theology Live.” Read more about The Rev. We touch something important inside of us when we give something of value to others. That’s at the heart of Christmas. When the offering is brought forward today, we are not pausing our worship service. It is in the middle of our worship service for a reason. Giving should be in the middle of all we do to honor God. We need to give, just as God has given to us. Be generous and open your heart with God’s gifts.

Sun: 8:30 –12:30 Campus Planning Committee Recommends Ground Lease. The Campus Planning Committee has recommended the Vestry consider leasing the northeast corner of the church’s land facing Douglas for office building development. The committee concluded that with the announced departure of the Episcopal School of Dallas, the church would have surplus land that could be leased to generate revenue that would be lost when ESD leaves our campus. The facilities used by ESD would be used to grow the Saint Michael Episcopal School (formerly the preschool.) Last Sunday for “Heart of Giving.” Today is the last Sunday to buy Heart of Giving cards. Heart of Giving is a great way to recognize family, friends, or business associates and support Saint Michael’s Mission and Outreach Ministries: The Good Samaritan Fund, Jubilee Park, Rosebud Indian Reservation, Honduras Mission, and the Amistad Bolivia Mission. Heart of Giving cards are available outside the Book Shop and at the South Lanai reception.

Vestry and Delegation Nomination Period Extended to December 31.The Vestry has extended the deadline to December 31 to nominate persons to serve on the Vestry and as delegates to the Diocesan Convention. Nomination forms must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Thursday, December 31. The election will be held at the church’s Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 28. Nomination forms are available online at www.saintmichael.org, or at the South Lanai reception desk.

Guidelines for Yearend Contributions. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires that 2015 tax deductable contributions must be received by the Church or postmarked by midnight Thursday, December 31. To better assist you with end-of-year contributions, the church offices will be open until 4:30 on December 31 and there is a secure deposit box outside the Bishop Moore Chapel.

Holiday Meetings Rescheduled. Several groups are rescheduling meetings between Christmas and New Year’s. The Women’s Cancer Support Group and Christian Yoga will NOT meet on Monday, December 28. Both will resume on Monday, January 4. Please check with your group leader about any meeting changes during the holidays.

Safe Church Training Set for Thursday, January 7. Safe Church Training is essential to Saint Michael’s dedication to provide a caring environment for every parishioner and is required for anyone working with youth or children. The training will be Thursday morning, January 7 from 9:00 – 12 Noon in the Coke Activities Room. RSVP to Kimberly Robinson at krobinson@saintmichael.org.

Jubilee Park Needs Volunteer Tutors. Jubilee Park and Community Center needs volunteers for its educational and after school programs. Volunteers can serve as an after-school tutor, a reader for young children at David’s Place, a loving presence for infants and toddlers at Jeanie’s Place, and as a classroom assistant or student mentor at O.M. Roberts Elementary School. To learn more about these opportunities, contact Allison Johnson at volunteer@jubileecenter.org Be an Austin Street Center Cook and Server January 5 and 6. The Austin Street Center provides emergency shelter and services to the homeless in Dallas. One night each month, Saint Michael serves a meal to those at the shelter. New Look for the Parlor. Take a moment and stop by the Parlor, which has a totally new look. The new furniture and fixtures have arrived just in time for Christmas. The new carpet was installed several weeks ago. Enjoy our new look!

Christian Formation Sunday Mornings at 10:00 Sunday School Resumes January 10 A new slate of intriguing, interesting and enlightening Sunday School classes begin for adults, children, and youth on January 10. The Forum begins with Interim Rector Doug Travis on Saint Michael’s “New Years Resolutions” followed by ESD Headmistress Meredyth Cole on “Faith, Education, and Society.”

The Adult Bible Class will study “Who is Jesus?” with parishioner Elizabeth Lang looking at Jesus as Prophet, and Bill Murray will lead the Fellowship class with “Let’s Start from the Beginning.” Greg Pickens will initiate a new class, Living. Faith. with “Superchristians and their Kryptonite.”

Women to Hear Dallas Chamber Economic Development Director. Jessica Heer, Vice President of Economic Development for the Dallas Regional Chamber, will address the Women of Saint Michael’s January 20th Luncheon. Ms. Heer leads the chamber’s corporate recruitment efforts and has been involved in moving the headquarters of AT&T, Comerica Bank, and Toyota North America, among others, to the Dallas area. The luncheon begins at 11:30 in Parish Hall.
