Titcomb’s fascination with Renaissance polyphony is evident in his compositions, which offer a blend of romantic and modal elements. He served Boston’s St. John the Evangelist, Episcopal for 50 years. Though he frequently received offers from other churches, he maintained St. John was the right place for him, saying “… there was something else, the atmosphere of Catholic worship, and the real presence of Almighty God.”
