TO SMAGAZ

CONT

EDITOR’S WELCOME Hello and welcome to SMagazine Issue 6. You’ll have noticed that inside this issue we’ve given the magazine a bit of a makeover - we hope you’ll like it! This time, we’re focusing on family homes, including builds by talented creators such as Steph0Sims and Deligracy. Speaking of Deligracy, she’s joined us for an exclusive interview inside this issue. We’ve been able to dive deeper into how she plays her game, how she builds her houses and much more. We’re also continuing the battle between old and new to determine once and for all if The Sims 2 or The Sims 3 is the better game. What do you think?

Exclusive Interview

DELIGRACY

EXCLUS

I'm Deli, an avid simmer and Graphic Designer from Melbourne, Australia. My YouTube channel "Deligracy" is where I enjoy doing speed builds with a strong focus on interior design. I've started my first Lets Play too!

- 24 -

When did you first play The Sims? My dad brought home Sim Town and Sim Safari when I was about 9 years old, then of course when The Sims came out, I was hooked. I've since played all through The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. Now I'm excitedly awaiting The Sims 4!

What is your favourite thing about The Sims? The Sims is a never-ending outlet for creativity. I love that I can channel my love for design through creating builds, using create-a-style and manipulating the appearance of Sims. This wonderful game stimulates my imagination and lets it run crazy—thats my favourite part.

Where do you inspiration for builds?

I get inspiration fr surrounding whe well as Tumblr, fa and design magaz like to create 'Sim who I build/renov to suit what I ima personalities to b

Of all the hous built, which wa favourite?

What are you most looking forward to in The Sims 4?

takeout food (Sims 2 University), a new generation of the Goth family and Sunny the Tragic Clown—all the classics we adore—would be great to see too! The Sims 4 will nonetheless be very exciting—I cannot wait!

The new worlds! They look so pretty from the glimpses we've seen—the detail in the sidewalks have me very excited. Above the new features of gameplay and build mode, I'm mostly looking forward to new, fresh energy in the game.

Thank you to Deligracy for taking time out for this interview. If you want more, flip over for a showcase of her house Verity, subscribe to her on YouTube (Deligracy) or follow her on Twitter, @deligracy. See you next issue for another interview!

Build or live mode? Build mode, most definitely!

Which features from previous games do you want in The Sims 4? I would love, love, love to have Create-a-style in The Sims 4! It breaks my simming heart to see it go, because I use it so much. Small things such as the return of chinese, Verity - 25 -

A huge part of the Sims game that makes it a unique and dynamic forefront to play on is the ability to create and play with characters of different age groups. Each generation has an exclusive set of traits, characteristics, actions and a wardrobe that can allows the Sim to be completely customizable. It is all up to you, the player! In The Sims 2, we were introduced to new life stages, different from the original Baby, Child, and Adult. There are seven life stages in the Sims 2, which are Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder. These life stages also carry on to the Sims 3. Unlike

Personally, I like that this feature stayed the same because the player gets a sense of familiarity when starting a new game, and the possibilities are endless in terms of An Elder is the oldest that a Sim can be. MEETUP HYDE PARK, LONDON • MAY As I was walking into Hyde Park, I was completely overwhelmed by the sheer size of the place. It’s huge! I wondered how on Earth I was going to find everyone at the meetup. However, I shouldn’t have worried, because I soon spotted a bright green swarm (for want of a better word) of loud, jolly and excited Simmers standing by some rather ‘sprayey’ (again, for want of a better word) fountains.

girls came up to me and introduced themselves as Abby (she’s on Twitter as @AbbyUNDEAD) and Amy (sorry if I got your names wrong! I’m still tired), and they soon made me feel comfortable with everyone at the meetup—thanks guys!

Everyone was really nice, and that’s what’s so great about meetups like this. SimtasticWorld (that’s her Twitter name) came over and we had a nice long conversation about the Sims...and how trigonometry is important? I don’t know, we’d all got very hyped up. Dan came around with postcards that we were going to send to EA, and everyone got even more excited at the prospect of being able to write to The Sims team. There was a raffle, in which I was one off of winning something, twice. But

I soon got over it (at least, that’s what I’m telling myself). However, Britain being Britain, it soon began to rain, and it was quite a downpour! It was quite an impressive feat when at least 100 Simmers managed to fit under this very small shelter, but we did it.

Ever wondered how SMagazine happens? If not, read this anyway (we had a page to spare). It starts with the editor taking a trip to some Sims 3 CC sites (thesimsresource.com was used for most creations inside this issue). Each time he finds something, it’s into Microsoft Publisher to write an article about it. This is where everything goes down, be it the designing of the cover or the writing of the articles. He might take to Twitter to ask people what they want to see (follow us @smagazineofcl) and he then tends to find more ideas from there. Once the issue is finished, he checks everything, and then exports it into a .PDF using Microsoft Publisher. Then it’s to Issuu.com to upload the magazine, and then to literally every single social network to advertise the magazine. And, then, you get to read it...like you’re doing right now! G
