WELCOME From Suzette Torres
Welcome to the 2018 In-House Counsel Network (IHCN) Puzzle Series Program Retreat! As some of you may know, Napa Valley was specifically chosen as we remember the one year anniversary of the Napa/Sonoma County fires that affected the beloved community. We are happy to support our fellow Sisters in Law and the Women in Business. We celebrate another successful year of discussing hot topics and current events that affect many women who serve in-house. This year we took on some great topics such as: 1. #MeToo: A New Paradigm for Employers – a discussion on how the #MeToo movement has changed the way companies deal with sexual harassment and policies that some companies have put into place. 2. A New Day for Equal Pay – a discussion on the current stats of Equal Pay and how far women have come to reach parity. 3. When It Hits the Fan: the Ins and Outs of Handling Internal Investigations – a discussion on how in-house counsel can address and plan ahead to deal with critical situations. 4. Business Chemistry (coming up on November 13, 2018 in Costa Mesa) – a discussion on how to recognize behavioral patterns and improve your interactions with others. We thank our sponsors who have made this Puzzle Series Program possible and for their continuous support. I am truly honored to be a part of this Program and to pay it forward. Make every minute count and enjoy the Retreat!
- Suzette Torres CWL IHCN, Chair CWL

Dear Participants, It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2017 CWL In-House Counsel Network Puzzle Program Retreat at the Four Season Hotel, Westlake Village. In our 2nd year of this program, we extended our reach to include our fellow sisters in Southern California. We are excited to include them as an essential piece to this Puzzle. This program has drawn some of California’s brightest in-house talent, including some of the most savvy and influential women in the law. The Retreat is the culmination of Puzzle Program sessions coming together for an exclusive gathering to share respective conclusions, reflections and best practices. Above all else, our goal is to build meaningful relationships with women who inspire, persevere, and define the meaning of true grit. Participants took on intuitive topics such as: (1) the Journey into the Board Room; (2) how do in-house counsel measure their value at work & how to get ahead; and (3) the effect of controversies that affected companies and its employees this year (i.e. the “Google Memo” and the Charlottesville Rally). We want to continue these conversations, and we also want everyone think about their own power of influence. Jessica Notini’s discussion on leveraging your influence will be an insightful opportunity to be a part of the narrative and explore how your influence applies in everyday lives. We thank our sponsors for their generous support making this Retreat and we hope you enjoy the “Wein need to accept that wepossible won’t always make Program. the right decisions, that we’ll screw up royally sometimes -- understanding that failure is not the Suzette Torres opposite of success, it’s part of success.” CWL IHCN, Chair CWL – Arianna Huffington Summer Selleck IHCN, Development Chair
