Small Ships - Huge Choice
The Small Cruise Ship Collection
The widest choice We believe we have the widest choice of small ship cruises as we work with around 100 small ships all over the world. This brochure contains just 10% of the cruises we have. For a full range of cruises please see our website at www.small-cruise-ships.com. If we can't find you a small ship cruise somewhere, there probably isn't one available!

Aaron Russ Expedition Leader and Founder
Powell Ettinger Managing Director and Founder
Caroline Worle Sales and Reservations
Aaron spent his childhood holidays on small ships around the Subantarctic islands, New Zealand and Antarctica. He has led more than 100 small ship expeditions to the world's most interesting regions. He has a degree in zoology, a passion for photography and a desire to showcase the world's top destinations. Antarctica remains his favourite, and he recently cruised the Scottish Isles, with the great Pacific navigator Mau Piailug zin Micronesia, and in Papua New Guinea, Antarctica, Spitsbergen, Greenland, and the Canadian Arctic on a full traverse of the Northwest Passage.
Powell has 15 years experience in the travel industry. Powell started his travel career trekking in the mountains of Morocco, Nepal, Iceland, Peru & Ethiopia before turning his attention to the seas and oceans of the world. Powell has travelled extensively on 7 continents including cruising in Alaska, sailing the Greek islands, cruising in Croatia, on the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday Islands off Australia as well as along the coast of Turkey, cruising through the Fjords of Chile, Antarctica and Greenland, and along the Amazon.
Caroline joined The Small Cruise Ship Collection in 2015 and has recently cruised in Alaska, Croatia and Norway. She has previously cruised the coast of England, the Channel Islands and the beautiful French coast of Brittany on small boats. Caroline’s favourite recent cruises took her to see the extraordinary scenery and wildlife of South East Alaska and along the stunning coast of Croatia where she particularly enjoyed the island of Mljet with its salt lakes and forested National Park. Caroline’s love for the great outdoors began 25 years ago on foot with trekking in the Himalayas of Nepal.

Croatia cruising If you had to design somewhere ideal for relaxed small-ship cruising, Croatia would be it. Small, historic and picturesque towns set on dozens of islands with small bays surrounded by blue sea. The food, very localised, is copious and utterly delicious and can be washed down with wine produced within 5 miles to complement the local cheese and olives. Ships There are many small cruise ships in Croatia, but we only work with the most comfortable, and all cabins have air conditioning and ensuite WC and shower. They carry a maximum of around 40 passengers and even the largest are only 50 metres long which means they can get into all the small ports and harbours that are out of bounds for anything larger.

We usually cruise for around 4 hours each morning, stopping for a swim en-route, before enjoying a guided tour of the days destination or some free time in the afternoons. In the evenings we are usually free to try some of the many restaurants and cafés. Most cruises start in Split, dominated by the extraordinary Palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian and we will visit the ‘Golden Horn’ beach and beautiful Hvar. We visit Vis, closed to the public until 1989 and the shooting location For Mamma Mia 2, Korcula, birthplace of Marco Polo, Mljet National Park and the jewel that is Dubrovnik.

Cruising the Arctic is easily the best and most comfortable way to experience this stunning, vast and diverse wilderness. Small cruise ships provide access places that larger ships cannot get anywhere near. If you want to get close to Polar Bears and Walrus a small ship, or even zodiacs from a small ship, can get close where larger ships rely on binoculars.

Antarctic Peninsula The most popular Antarctic region, the Antarctic Peninsula, provides a multitude of landscapes and wildlife encounters. It delivers everything you could want in Antarctica: the huge tabular icebergs, vast landscapes, hillsides covered with penguins, and whales and abundant marine life. You will spend time in Zodiac boats and on selected expeditions you can paddle your own kayak. Learn about the history of exploration and discovery in Antarctica from experts and become a passionate advocate for the world’s last great wilderness. Longer expeditions allow more time for exploration and the chance to travel across the Antarctic Circle or deep into the Weddell Sea.
South Georgia South Georgia is one of the world’s premier wildlife spectacles, enthralling visitors with the abundance of life. Steeped in Shackleton and whaling lore, covered mostly in glaciers and mountains, South Georgia explodes with life: five million pairs of Macaroni penguins, a thriving fur seal population, thousands of breeding elephant seals and more than 100,000 king penguins on a single beach. One significant and historic site that will be of interest is the grave of Sir Ernest Shackleton at the settlement of Grytviken, which is also home to an old whaling and research station. A day for reflecting on what it must have been like to be one of the first explorers to this unforgiving, yet beautiful environment.
