ST MARY’S CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
EDUCATING STUDENTS OF ALL BELIEFS, DRIVEN BY TRADITIONAL CATHOLIC VALUES "Leaders expect all pupils to achieve highly" - Ofsted, 2021
St Mary's Catholic High School takes great pride in the opening comment of its recent Ofsted inspection (Nov 2021), which stated that: “St Mary’s Catholic High School is a deeply caring community. Its pupils and staff live up to their core values of being welcoming, serving others, and working hard.” The school provides an environment in which students and staff are challenged to achieve their full potential - intellectually, socially and spiritually. In partnership with the home and the church community, our school strives to instil a respect for the dignity of others as well as a sense of one’s own personal worth. As a Catholic school, St Mary’s has well established links with local parishes and Catholic primary schools, but most importantly it welcomes applications for children of all faiths.
Founded in 1851, St Mary's Catholic High School is an 11-16, co-educational comprehensive, and is one of the oldest Catholic state schools in the country. With just 8 students on its very first day, the school now has an unbroken record of service in educating generations of families from the local, and now global, community. The school prides itself on its diverse and harmonious community, where students feel safe and well cared for, with leaders who expect all to achieve highly, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and speakers of other languages who are beginning to learn English.
Our core values of WELCOME, HARD WORK & SERVICE helped deliver the school's best ever GCSE results in 2022.
