“Getting on with each other as a group is another valuable life skill that regular trips on a Sunshine Coach help to develop.”
Our Sunshine Coaches have become a common sight on Britain’s roads, ferrying eager children to their next destination
97% of Coaches are used many times a week and often several times a day
86% of the children they carry have physical, sensory or learning disabilities
71% of use is for educational, recreational and residential trips
On 23 March 2020, the government took the unprecedented step to go into national lockdown, paralysing the economy.
Many charities went into a state of hibernation for the next two years – but not Variety Golf!
As an outdoor activity, golf was exempt enabling us to carry on with a slimmed-down programme of events.
In 2020 we presented 20 Sunshine Coaches, followed by 26 in 2021 and, last yearcoming out of COVID - a record 40 Coaches!
In 2022 Variety Golf presented Sunshine Coaches to all these Schools and Institutions throughout the UK ...helping more than 10,000 children!

In 2022 we helped provide 226 Golf Lessons for more than 1,350 Disabled Children
Through our association with Golf for Disabled Children and the Golf Trust we are currently involved in recruiting more and more golf club professionals to give up some of their time to teaching groups of disabled children to play golf.
In 2022 Variety Golf became the first official sponsor for 24-year-old Kipp Popert, who has since risen to the top of the world rankings for golfers with a disability and is currently number one in the world.
“I’m a great admirer of Variety Golf and I’m only too pleased to play in their events and help raise money for Sunshine Coaches. Anything that helps disabled youngsters has to be a good thing, as I know better than most”.
Kipp Popert
We couldn’t achieve what we do without the generosity of our sponsors, both individual and corporates. We love them – but they love us, too!
“Jamie & his team at Variety Golf have run our Edit Residential Company Golf Day at The Grove for the past four years from start to finish and every detail was handled perfectly.
We were delighted to raise enough funds after two Golf Days to present our own Variety Sunshine Coach to an amazing Special Needs School located just round the corner from our office.
The satisfaction we get from seeing that actual Sunshine Coach on our way to work makes it so very special”.
Jamie Aherne, Managing Director, Edit Residential“Variety Golf is such a unique organisation and we have been thrilled to present five Sunshine Coaches in the last five years at our own Synecore Charity Golf Days.
To see the smiles on the children’s faces when they receive their Sunshine Coach makes it all worthwhile. And what’s even better is we get to invite our clients to support the event and they all can see what the fundraising goes towards!
Last year, we were invited by the school to meet their children who told us how much joy the Sunshine Coach has brought to their everyday life. Thanks to Variety Golf for making this happen!”
Paul Thomas, CEO, Synecore“JOIE have presented over 20 Variety Sunshine Coaches to 20 Special Needs Schools and Children’s Hospices in the past five years.
Because JOIE is a baby products company, we couldn’t be happier to support Variety Golf as a Children’s Charity – it is such great synergy!
We are looking forward to presenting another five more Variety Sunshine Coaches in 2023. JOIE are delighted to be a partner of Variety Golf to help us change the lives of so many children for the better and put ‘A million miles of Smiles’ on the children’s faces.”
David Welsh, CEO, JOIE BABY UKAt Variety Golf we run a very tight ship – making sure that our overheads are as low as possible and 90% of the money we raise goes towards purchasing Sunshine Coaches
Under the practised eye of Jamie Little, ex-European Tour professional, Variety Golf runs smoothly and efficiently with only two full-time members of staff – plus a lot of input from its members. It’s fun and it works!
