The SMBN has been created to give Single Mums in Business in the UK affordable exposure to their business. Millions of women in the UK are fighting to work in sync with school and often self-employment is the only way to do that. Single Mums managing on one household income need enough exposure to enable them to succeed and draw a consistent full-time wage within 12 months. Whereas most businesses take a few years to grow to a sustainable level.
If a Single Mum does not succeed financially in business she is more likely to need long-term support as she will be forced into low skilled underpaid work and away from her children. Any woman can become a single mum overnight. The SMBN stands to reduce stigma and misconceptions about how we become single mums and about our work ethic.
