Hot pot Hot pot is a type of Chinese food which is invented in Chongqing city in China and it is also very famous worldwide. What is hot pot? Let’s say it like this, imagine you and your friends are going to eat dinner together, you bought vegetables and meat and seafood and everything. However, none of you guys want to spend two hours on cooking. What should we do now? Yes! Let’s make it simple, let’s just cut everything into pieces and throw them into a big metal pot with hot water in and let them boil. Then the problem is that it will taste like nothing! How about we put some kind of flavor in the soup? Why not put chili and oil in it and make it super spicy?

Everyone loves to go out to try new food spots. It is a way to try a new experience amongst friends. Sadly, going out to eat is not always the best thing for our wallets, especially for college students. So here are a few places to save an extra dollar without sacrificing quality!

1. SushiStop

SushiStop is probably one of the most popular spots to get a tasty sushi roll for as cheap as $2.95! Their menu has a wide variety of options that will cater to many people’s taste­ including ramen and teriyaki bowls! Any sushi fan should definitely give SushiStop a visit because for about $3 a roll, what can you lose?

2.​ Fritto Misto

Fritto Misto in is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in Santa Monica. Everything from the decour to the classic italian menu. What makes this place so affordable are the massive serving sizes­ one plate easily feeds two­three people. And the fact that the pasta is home made fresh everyday makes it even that much better!

3. ​Cha Cha Chicken

If you are a fan of Caribbean dishes like jerk chicken, fried plantains and coconut fried chicken than this place is the one for you! The atmosphere is laid back and refreshing being only a few minutes­walk away from the Santa Monica beach. Similarly to Fritto Misto, the portion sizes are quite large but what really is great about this place is the fact that you can bring your own favorite beer or alcoholic beverage free of charge!

SAUDI ARABIAN MUST TRY FOODS: KABSA AND GHAWA

Kasbah is a traditional food in Saudi Arabia. It could be made with rice and chicken or meat all with specially mixed spices. It’s the main meal in celebrations such as, Weddings, Family gathering... Etc. There are two ways to eat the Kasbah. The first way is to eat it with spoon and fork. The second way, which is the traditional way is to eat using your hand instead of spoon and fork by using just three fingers. Modern Saudis eat this meal with Laban, which is

a smoothie milk.

Gahwa is an Arabic coffee and usually served with dates. Serving Gawah in Saudi Arabia is a sign for hospitality and generosity. The coffee has to be in front of the gussets, and when they finish their cup of coffee “ Finjal “ the host have to take the Finjal and fill it up again without even asking the gussets if they want more or not. In some Arabic tribes if the gusset reject to drink the Gahwa it means that there is a problem between the host and the gusset or the gusset want something from the host and he will not drink the coffee if he will not accept his ask.

Tutorials Olive Garden Style Chicken Alfredo

I​ngredients: 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 cups heavy cream 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper Pinch of salt 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 12­ounce box fettuccine pasta (Or your choice of pasta)

Directions: 1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium/low heat.

2. Add the garlic, cream, pepper and salt, and bring mixture to a simmer. Turn the heat down if the mixture reaches a rapid boil or it could boil over. You just want a simmer.

Add the cheese, and continue to simmer sauce for 8 minutes or until thick.

3. While sauce cooks, bring 4 to 6 quarts of water to a boil and add the pasta. Cook pasta for about 12 minutes or until done, then drain it.

4. Spoon pasta onto serving plates with Alfredo sauce poured over the top.

Makes 2 to 3 large servings.
