Is Durant Being Shut Down For The Season?
Kevin Durant has been "removed from basketball activities" and could be shut dow n for the season, Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti announced Friday. "He's not making the progress w e'd hoped or expected," Presti said. W hen asked w hether Durant w as being shut dow n for the season, Presti said, "Essentially, that's the direction w e're headed right now ." Durant w as held out of practice Thursday as he w as "experiencing a little bit of soreness," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said Thursday. Durant underw ent surgery Feb. 23 to attempt to alleviate soreness and discomfort in his right foot that w as being caused by a screw inserted in October during a procedure to repair a Jones fracture. After the second procedure, Durant w as re-evaluated after a w eek, then re-evaluated again after another w eek, at w hich point Brooks updated the player's timetable to a "w eek or tw o." "The goal is to get him back on the court healthy, w henever that is," Presti said Friday. Durant had intensified his on-court w orkouts in the past couple of w eeks, returning Saturday to participate in parts of practice, including some 3on-3.
