FAQs
Tuition & Fees Being Maryland’s public college means we’re devoted to accessibility, diversity and affordability.
Do I have to wait until I am accepted to St. Mary’s before I apply for aid? No, you don’t have to wait. You may apply for financial aid before you are accepted, but you will not receive a financial aid award letter until you have been accepted. We encourage you to apply for aid even if you have not yet been accepted so we can process your aid application as soon as possible upon your acceptance.

St. Mary’s College has a priority filing deadline of February 15 for incoming first-year students. By filing early, you increase the chance of knowing your eligibility in March.
You must complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15 (but it cannot be filed until after January 1). The FAFSA asks you to provide information on income, assets, household size and number in college. You do not have to file your taxes before completing the FAFSA: it is better to use accurate estimates than to file late. Corrections can be made to the FAFSA once the tax return has been filed. You must complete and submit the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. St. Mary’s school code is 002095. Keep all financial aid material for your records. Use an active email address on the FAFSA and check both your inbox and junk mail for messages from the federal processor, Maryland Higher Education Commission, and the Office of Financial Aid at St. Mary’s College.
As a public institution, St. Mary’s College of Maryland is committed to providing access to our unique honors college education to students of all financial backgrounds. We believe that no qualified student should be denied the right to pursue an education and we will work with families to help find resources through federal, state, and campus-based programs. St. Mary’s College has a number of financial aid options available to eligible students. Students who qualify for financial aid receive it in the form of scholarships, grants, loans and/or work-study.
