M | BUILD WORKSHOP eXtreme Manufacturing Tuesday, June 2 8:35 AM – 5:00 PM (Separate registration required) Manufacturing for the future requires agility. Your teams encounter complex problems and need to know how to effectively work together to identify solutions and achieve the desired results. The M | Build Workshop is designed for teams and individuals alike to develop cross-functional agile manufacturing skills through a series of activities to build a car in one day.
M | Build Keynote Joe Justice of Scrum Inc. and Craig Sutton of John Deere will provide tools and take-aways for engineers and executives in manufacturing software looking to improve their processes. New professionals and students can see examples of the value found in pairing prioritized backlog-driven development and extreme programming, as they see the methodology jump from software teams to research, manufacturing and product engineering. A deep dive into Agile, Kanban and Lean is included – all of which are applied to conquer a highly regulated industry with large, distributed, collaborative teams.
M | Build Sprints Following the keynote, four 60- to 90- minute sprints will take place on the exhibit floor to actually build the car. Teams of five or individual participants may register for one, two, three or four sprints. Space is limited for each sprint. Chassis Time – Create a workspace and execute tests to prepare the suspension model and crush structures Wheels Up – Focus on contract-first design and integration testing to add all wheels to the chassis Full Steer Ahead – Attach the pedal plate module and windshield Hot Rod – Add show-car stage makeup, add the aeroshell, and prepare the seats for show time!
