Almost one month after Hurricane Dorian lashed the northern Bahamian islands of Grand Bahama and the Abacos, an intrepid group of almost 100 volunteers from Eleuthera set out on Friday afternoon, September 27th, 2019 on a 14 hour boat ride, aboard the Bahamas Daybreak, to Central Abaco, to deliver relief supplies and food to residents who remained on the devastated island, following the passage of the strongest storm to ever impact land in the Atlantic basin. OIC ADDERLEY WARNS “Keep Eleuthera as Tranquil as it is”
“Don’t allow it to fester, and say that you are afraid.” In the wake of the first-of-itskind deadly shooting, in James’ Cistern, which took place on August 24th, 2019, resulting in the death of 27 year old Dwayne Rolle Jr., the Eleuthera Division of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, said in early October that investigations are still continuing into the shocking incident. Chief Superintendent, OIC Stephen Adderley commenting during an interview on Monday, October 1st, emphasized that
the general public in Eleuthera should ensure that they know who are in their communities, adding that Police have noted a trend of criminals moving in from New Providence into places like James’ Cistern, Hatchet Bay, areas of North Eleuthera, as well as South in the Rock Sound area, and Governor’s Harbour. He also stressed that they were paying attention to local drug traffickers, who had the effect of bringing criminal networks out of Nassau. “Many of the killings in Nassau are over drug turf, and so as these criminals move into
