Reimagining our Homes

here’s no denying that many of us have spent more time at home in the past 19 months than we have at any other point in our lives. Our homes have become more than the places we go to at the end of a long day. Our homes are now at the center of our lives. As a result of the increased time we are spending at home, all of the little flaws have become more apparent. For instance, I put up with a dated exterior side door for years because I very rarely used it. I typically used the front door to enter and exit my home because it was the one that was closer to my driveway. Once I started staying at home more, I used the front door a lot less. The

once-neglected side door started getting a lot more attention because I used it to go into my backyard to spend time relaxing outdoors, something I rarely had time for prior to the pandemic. After a couple of weeks of constantly going in and out of the side door, I broke bad and called a contractor. Now, I can’t help but smile every time I walk through the new and more modern door. I’m not alone. Many people I’ve talked to are deciding now is the right time to tackle home renovation projects they have been putting off for years. While my new door was a fairly straightforward project, I’m sure some of you have your eyes on much more complicated renovations. Maybe you found your

open floor plan isn’t working out so great now that your children are learning from home while you’re also trying to work from home. A dividing wall could be just the fix. Or maybe you’re finding yourself at your lake house more now than you did before. The original wood paneling might have been tolerable because you only looked at it a couple of months out of the year, but that’s no longer the case. No matter what your reason is for wanting to spruce up your home, you’ll find all of the resources you’ll need in this publication. d-day memorial The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford was created in honor of the thousands of Americans who died during the invasion of Normandy on June 6 — one of the most pivotal battles of World War II. The memorial was built in Bedford because the town lost 19 men in the battle, the severest loss per capita of any community in the United States.
