House tours of the third president's retreat include a guided tour of the upper level, along with a self-guided exploration of exhibits in the lower level of the house, the wing of offices, the grounds and the slave quarters site.
Enslaved community talks entail a specially trained docent who will introduce you to the only intact slave quarter on the property and tell authentic stories of resistance, despair and perseverance among the men, women and children enslaved at Poplar Forest. Free with regular admission.
