Day 1 - Day on Tour We will be visiting 4 different venues including farm shops, visitor attractions, diversification projects with a difference and you will see some great rural retailing in action . At each venue we will hear about the ups and the downs and the vital statistics of retail. You will learn will how to attract more customers into your businesses and be encouraged to share ideas and develop new knowledge. This day will start at 9.30 and we will finish at Tulleys Farm where they will be hosting an evening BBQ to end the day at around 7pm. Newlyns Farm Shop – a multi-award winning farm shop with a fantastic butchery counter proud to be selling their own lamb, beef, pork and poultry and a shop with great fresh produce and local products, Newlyns is a place you must see. Hosting many events throughout the year, this family run farm has truly diversified in a very professional way. The day will be a mixture of presentations and workshop sessions providing you with plenty of time to interact with the speakers. It will include a focus on the power of a brand and how to manage it, the customer experience, promoting and marketing your business using latest technologies and setting your own and the businesses goals, this day will run between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm .

Susie Emmett: Susie is a creative communicator. Using her multimedia skills, she will fuel your creativity to share your story and strengthen your brand through film. Sharing the essentials to plan, shoot, edit and develop your story in film for your website, your store or in your sales pitch. The power of film is at your fingertips. Whether in person, on products or online, Susie believes every moment matters to connect, impress and promote your brand. Jonathan Winchester: Jonathan is the founder of Shopper Anonymous and works with some of the most successful farm shops, rural and independent businesses across the UK to improve their standard of customer service. Building a team who are motivated, passionate and empowered is a critical aspect of any forward thinking business. Jonathan will be sharing with you some great tips on developing a truly fantastic team who understand the end goal. Charlie Turnbull: Managing the margins in retail is always tricky. Charlie will give you fantastic practical tips and tools to use to keep on top of those figures. Charlie Turnbull owns and runs the famous Turnbulls Delicatessen and Café, grew up on a small farm and is a board member of the Guild of Fine Food. He also has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to managing the maths and believes we should ‘dream about margins’ Stuart Beare: Adding value to a farming enterprise often involves creating new activities to attract new people and then to keep customers longer. With a host of awards to their name, Stuart will highlight how he and the team at Tulleys have managed to attract thousands of new customers to Tulleys Farm and the impact this has had on the business over the years. Michael Mack: Michael will explore the process of setting personal goals and business performance indicators that matter. Smiths Gore have worked across many farming and rural businesses to support them to benchmark their performance and then to use this information to achieve improvements in the businesses as it moves forward. “Thank you for a superb conference at Ipswich.
