What shoots intend to do in the 2012/2013 season The Smiths Gore and GunsOnPegs Shoot Intentions Survey, now in its fourth year and supported by the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust and the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, is designed to provide a snapshot of the economic opportunities and challenges anticipated by the sport for the forthcoming season. 155 shoots told us their intentions for the 2012/2013 season, up by 40% on last year.

Interpreting net balance An increase in net balance shows the proportion of shoots reporting a rise in optimism (or birds put down, bookings or charges) minus those reporting a fall. For example, if +30% reported a rise and -5% reported a fall, the net balance will be +25%.
