The rich and exciting world of the Smithsonian is all theirs to discover in these one-of-a-kind learning experiences that spark the imagination—and offer plenty of great fun.

Youth Teaching Assistants High school students 15+ years of age can apply to volunteer as Youth Teaching Assistants (YTAs) at Smithsonian Summer Camp! Science Adventures for All Ages From the deepest oceans to the furthest stars, the vast Amazon rainforest to the smallest backyard insect, campers have a universe of science to discover this summer. The Smithsonian’s museums on the Mall, National Zoo, Udvar–Hazy Center, and Environmental Research Center, as well as the U.S. Botanic Gardens, provide exciting backdrops for all their explorations. Soldiers and Dioramas Campers enjoy using miniature soldiers, wargames, reference books, documentaries, and field trips to learn about a different pivotal battle each week. Campers receive 1/72- scale plastic soldiers that they can paint and trade with one another and make a terrain board for display or wargaming with their figures. All Soldiers and Dioramas camps are offered for campers in grades 6 through 9.
