Cartoon Geometry is a catalogue of selected images from the artist’s studio and from the exhibition of the same name at Aisle Gallery, Cincinnati, Ohio, May 11 – July 18, 2012.
Cartoon Geometry is a table-top installation of basic shapes that are fuzzy or shiny, upright or prone. These forms replace the lucid perfection of ideal geometry with a delinquent version that defies logic as well as gravity. At times the table-top collection resembles a miniature circus or a goofy utopian landscape. The horizontality of the table-top repeats on the floor level where larger wood works on wheels can be moved into different relationships with the table elements. The wheel works as well as Long Playing Geometry, drawings on record sleeves, and Game Board, a series on handmade papers, are yet other ways to examine geometry and to pay homage to its mathematical and poetic possibilities.
