Start your EV and get ready for an unforgettable adventure! The Scottish Motor Racing Club (SMRC), in partnership with the Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA), is thrilled to announce the return of EcoRally Scotland. Following the tremendous success of last summer’s inaugural event, we’re back with a two-day extravaganza on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd August 2024. This year, EcoRally Scotland is a Candidate Event for the prestigious Bridgestone FIA EcoRally Cup.
EcoRally Scotland is not just a rally; it’s an eco-friendly challenge set against the backdrop of the breathtaking North Coast 500. This 420mile journey starts and finishes in Inverness, navigating through some of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes. Teams of two (driver and navigator) in their Electric Vehicles (EVs) will experience the thrill of orienteering on wheels, using maps and clues to hit checkpoints and complete regularity tests.
Imagine cruising through the serene Highland countryside, tackling challenges that test your navigation and teamwork skills, all while contributing to a greener future. With provided meals, EV charging stations, and accommodations, the event promises convenience alongside adventure.

THE ROUTE
Day 1 – Thursday 22nd August; Following Registration & Breakfast at Fairways in Inverness, crews will head North West towards Ullapool and on to the picturesque fishing village of Lochinver, where lunch will be provided and EV charging facilities are available. The afternoon follows the North Coast via Scourie, Durness and Tongue before an overnight halt in Thurso. Dinner, Bed & Breakfast will be provided at the Premier Inn in Thurso based on two-people sharing a Double or Twin room. EV Charging facilities are available close to the hotel.
Day 2 – Friday 23rd August; Crews will head South via Helmsdale, with a lunch break in Golspie (charging facilities available) before returning to Inverness for a buffet dinner and presentation of awards.powered vehicles (E85/CNG/ CBG) are also eligible.

This month we turn the spotlight on an another of this year’s inspiring panel – Jillian Shedden, Managing Director at Knockhill Racing Circuit.
We are honoured to announce Jillian Shedden, Managing Director at Knockhill Racing Circuit, as one of the esteemed speakers at this year’s Females in Focus event, hosted by the Scottish Motor Trade Association. Taking place on Friday, 20th September 2024, at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow, this event celebrates women’s achievements and contributions in the motor trade industry.
From the tender age of ten, Jillian Shedden has played a pivotal role in the development of Knockhill Racing Circuit. With her father taking ownership of the circuit in 1983, Jillian’s passion for the business was evident early on. As a teenager, she was deeply involved in numerous aspects of the circuit’s operations, from selling tickets at the gate to helping with lap scoring in Race Control and assisting in the Circuit Office.
Upon completing her college education, Jillian became an integral part of the team running the circuit. Her impact has been unparalleled, and she has played a crucial role in shaping Knockhill into what it is today. In 2009, Jillian took on the mantle of Managing Director, and under her leadership, every facet of the business, the venue, its promotion, and the activities and events have flourished, making Knockhill a mainstay in the racing community.
Jillian is not only a proficient manager but also a highly experienced racer in her own right, having competed in saloons and single-seaters. Her extensive knowledge and expertise are recognised nationally by her peers. She has served on the Board of the Association of Motor Racing Circuit Owners and is the chair of the Motorcycle Racing Promoters Committee.
Jillian Shedden’s journey exemplifies dedication, passion, and leadership. Her insights and experiences will undoubtedly provide valuable perspectives at the Females in Focus event, enriching discussions on diversity, leadership, and the evolving role of women in the motor trade and racing industries.
