USWNT Qualifies For The World Cup Not surprisingly, the USA women’s national soccer team qualified for the 2019 World Cup in France by beating Jamaica in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship semifinal. They started off the scoring early in just the second minute when Tobin Heath scored, and Megan Rapinoe added one thirteen minutes later. Julie Ertz, wife of Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, put the game out of reach from the Jamaicans when she scored in the twentyfirst minute. Tobin Heath added another to her tally in the twentyninth minute, and Alex Morgan scored her first of the game four minutes later. The United States felt pretty good going into halftime with a 50 lead. Late in the game in the eightyfourth minute, US star forward Alex Morgan won a penalty. She converted from the spot, and the United States had a great 60 win over Jamaica, so they are into the final. This means that they are one of the best 3 teams in their region, automatically qualifying for the World Cup. In the final, the United States faced their rivals and neighbors to the north, Canada. After a secondminute goal from Rose Lavelle and an eightyninth minute goal from Alex Morgan, the US beat Canada 20 and won the CONCACAF Women’s Championship. They played really well in this qualifying tournament, and are expected to perform in the same fashion in the World Cup next summer in France.
