PARKS & OPEN SPACES
PARKS & OPEN SPACES BRANDING
Parks & Open Spaces logo was designed in reflection of the Western Downs region. Inspired by the environment of the region and the people who live there.
The client wanted a logo that could be used in conjunction to the Western Downs Regional Council Logo, but be able to stand alone when needed. Often Parks and Open Spaces staff were stopped by the public and asked about roads rather than parks and recreational areas. Staff wanted a visual way to identify their difference.
The outer layer represents an overarching tree canopy - specifically the bottle tree which is found throughout the region - providing shade and protection. This layer is also a nod to our 6 districts, with 6 distinctive yet interconnecting sections of the logo.
The middle section represents our inviting and interactive parks and open spaces - the liveable spaces were people connect with the local landscape and each other. The colour blue is also a nod to water as the life blood of parks and open spaces.
PARKS & OPEN SPACES
The centre of the logo represents our intimate spaces - the vibrant and welcoming garden beds that attract people with colour and beauty. The centre forms a generic flower shape that the community can quickly identify the Parks and Open Spaces team.
The white outline represents the unity of one region that’s connected through our welcoming and liveable parks and open spaces.

It its important that all brands have a style guide that they can refer to often. This ensures that no matter who does collateral in the future for the brand that the brand is consistent.
