ashion, Art or a Photography no matter how chic, is incomplete until you make it your own, be it with a trusty cashmere cardigan or a signature tangle of chains. Something I’ve learned after all these years in the industry is that no two women wear any piece, say, a cheetah-print dress, in quite the same way. That’s the beauty of what happens when a garment enters real life from a glossy magazine page. And so I’ve always aimed to make SnaPixel about enhancing a People’s personal style. Lucky for me, it’s one thing my team has in spades. Even though we are in the business of trends, the SnaPixel staff isn’t made up of slavish followers of the runway’s many dictates. Instead, they bring their own character to their wardrobes. In this Edition we have Covered the Most Awaited Event of Fashion Industry i.e. LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2015. Adding to the grandeur of this 15year celebratory finale was an appearance by Lakmé face Kareena Kapoor Khan Apart From Lakeme. We Have Many Other things for you, From Students Design to Their Portfolios. Success Stories to Personal Glimpse. Everything and Exclusively For You only. This Issue Will Provide Inspiration For Everyone. Enjoy!

he’s young, she’s talented and above all, she’s passionate. Fashion design student, Sanyukta Barua loves contrasts and manages to find the balance between sheer elegance and a worn roughness in her designs. She plays with maximalism in details and is minimalistic with silhouettes. We caught up with her during a work break to find out more about what inspires her. Sanyukta Barua is perusing her Degree in B.Design (fashion) from SVT College of Home Science at SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. Let’s read more about miss Sanyukta’s journey towards fashion. Sanyukta says, “Along with my studies I also worked in various fields of fashion such as LFW, IIJW, Mercedes Benz and PONDS Miss India. I also completed 3 years diploma in garment technology from Assam Textile Institute, Guwahati, Assam, which has given me in-depth knowledge and experience in understanding textiles and fashion. Assam is rich and beautiful in Muga and Eri silk. My passion is to experiment with these silks in global fashion market.”
ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The name of the collection is Deoochi. The name ‘Deoochi’ means the evil’s eye in Roman. The collection is inspired by evil’s eye symbol from the Tantra side of Buddhism. Talking about the garments, they were designed with organic fabrics which were woven in Assam along with Motifs that were developed and hand painted on Eri silk. The entire collection is made of Noni silk (blend of raw silk and cotton) and Eri silk. When we part ways after our little chat I can’t help but smile. This is one driven and very talented designer-to-be and if we are to believe what we hear, there’s lots more to expect from her. Snapixel wishes all the very best to Sanyukta for her fashion career.
I
am a fashion designer having completed my Diploma in Fashion Designin from Nirmala Niketan Polytechnic this year.
I was always attracted to everything ‘fashion’ and ‘style’ and this brought me to the field of fashion designing. Having gotten this diploma i now move towards fulfilling my dream of being a fashion designer. I’ve modelled for an inter collegiate competion organized by The Chopras. As a fashion enthusiast, I have attended the lakme fashion week for 2 years now. I have even won 1st prize for Most innovative garment of the year. T-shirt painting is something i like and have been doing for some years now. The inspiration for my featured collection is ‘Tribal Trinkets’ which incorporates everything ‘tribal’. The motifs for embroideries, the prints and styles, everything has a tribal touch to it. The collection has everything from a gown to a purely Indian ghagra. There is a donut jacket which is a new concept. It is completely filled with hand embroidery which gives it its unique look. The ghagra choli has a dupatta with a twist in the form of a cape. Tribal clothing and accessories show exten-
sive use of colourful beads.Keeping the same in mind, I have kept bead work and chain stiches as the core of my collection.
The complete collection reflects the colorful nature of tribal clothing.

collection with touches of royalty is always coveted by stylish women. Arpita Mehta’s “The Royal Summer Affair” at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Report 2015 was a scintillating presentation of glamour and style. It was an ethereal collection where ethnic silhouettes were highlighted by the sensuous lines of cream and nude, with splashes of bright pop tones like royal pink, indigo, lime green and peachy coral. The symphony in nude net was a vision of beauty with the first entry of a lehenga with sequinned peplum blouse. What followed were more stunners in the same hue with tulle being the cynosure of the collection. A textured sari was teamed with the tiniest of bikini tops; but ponchos with shorts had embroidered edges. A will-power net gown was a visual dream and the net kurta with sharer as was outstanding. The off-shoulder embroidered mini with drop sleeves, the cape and frocks with net dhotis were interesting accompaniments. With layered sheer fabrics adding to the mood of the collection, Arpita ensured that the appliquéd mirror work flowers as well as the innovative geometric georgettes and got a designs added to the regal appearance of the creations. To complete a further touch of elegance to her collection, Arpita launched her limited edition line of handmade embroidered shoes called “Bedazzle”. The showstopper was the gorgeous statuesque Esha Gupta who looked breathtaking in a layered flesh coloured embroidered gown with a seductive thigh high slit. Formal wear never looked more enticing and inviting than Arpita Mehta’s “The Royal Summer Affair” collection.

evelation IIKA for the Anaiikka label by Kanikka Salluja brought a stylish revolution at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2015. It was the birth of the new Indian woman that inspired Kanikka’s creativity and the very strong but stylish presentation on the runway. The fabric choice was just high graded silk but the colours were striking and glamorous as flesh, salmon, sinduri, teal, Neel blue and tulsi green breathed life into the stunning ensembles. The silhouettes had to match the feminine aggressive mood of the collection so Kanikka unleashed her version of the warrior sari, fish tail lehengas worn with cropped warrior blouses and shrugs, dhoti pants and tiny fitted tops. Ending the show was the talented newcomer Akshara Hasan, star of the movie “Shamitabh” who slowly moved down the ramp in a
very elaborate white net warrior queen gown encrusted with silver and intense matching jewellery.

he shimmer and shine of the “Palace of Mirrors” collection inspired by the Sheesh Mahal in Amer Fort in Rajasthan, was a glittering presentation by Payal Singhal at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015. Giving her creative, modern, interpretation of the intricate patterns and fine detailed mirror mosaic work from the walls of the palace, Payal translated it effortlessly and beautifully on her creations. Opting for a pastel gentle palette in coral, blush, ecru and grey, she turned it into separates and Neo Indian occasion wear. Making a stunning impression on the ramp were the churidar-skirt, low crotch pants worn with mosaic mirror work choli, embroidered sharara pants, and the off-shoulder choli with lehenga sporting a mirror cutwork waist belt. Ending the show was the lovely Tamannaah who glided down in a blush Dupion silk choli, lehenga with zardosi and leather appliqué and net dupatta

t was a riot of art and colour as Day Four at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 ended with Suneet Varma’s grand summer bridal collection called “Decorative Arts of India” presented by Reliance Jewels. The venue was lit with eight fabulous chandeliers and four imposing pillars on the stage. The show that unveiled was a mind boggling array of the most dramatic and exquisite creations
that would make every bride long to wear them. A master at creating fantastic embroidery designs and prints, the Suneet Varma collection was a breathtaking view of the work of master craftsmen and artisans. Inspired by the gorgeous traditional motifs and crafts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and South India, the clothes were utterly romantic, feminine and flirtatious.
The colour story matched the theme as shades of red moved to Sindoor, vermillion, gulaal, fuchsia, pink rose and magenta, which were splashed with large mirror work borders in thread embroidery. The absolutely gorgeous Nargis Fakhri looked sensational in a crystal encrusted red lehenga choli and dupatta, wearing the stunning Reliance Jewels.

s I walk pass the shops on the road I can’t help but notice mannequins draped in all those beautiful clothes. Finally I give in to my temptation and walk into one of the many stores do some bag full of shopping! Have you heard the saying “Shop till you drop!”? In recent times, fashion has successfully captured our attention. For some of us shopaholics, buy new stuff has even proven therapeutic in the times of boredom or depression! “STREET FASHION” is one of the greatest blessings that bestowed upon us by fashion. It has taken dressing up whole new level. Street fashion is experimenting with different trends that hit the market. With so much diversity available today, it is about mixing traditional with modern look, wearing funky designs, dazzling in cool sunnies and wearing most vibrant colour in darkest of days. It allows us to be anything, from hipster to feminine chic. And more importantly it is about being sassy and wild yet confidently presenting yourself with flamboyance! Now-a-days we come across accessories, shoes, bags that pile up the market. These accessories range from cute anklet to a flowery tiara to a funky ear ring. Styling yourself in this is something all of us happily immerse ourselves into! You don’t have to be fashion conscious. It is all about choosing whatever you want and flaunting your eccentric style.
Remember those disappointing shopping trips in a store and not being able to by that ridiculously expensive gorgeous dress because of cash shortage? Aw. We have all suffered from that. No longer can this petty issue prevent us from indulging into our shopaholic craving. The clothes are pocket friendly with a lot to choose from. Street fashion undoubtedly assures that. And lucky for us, Mumbai has been an epitome of street fashion. Who says fashion is just for woman? With designer’s ingenuity and exploration men look just as stunning as women in the clothes. From wearing suit & tie to sporting funky shorts they are very fashion conscious. Certain trends that are seen in the market are not limited to her or him, who knew both men and women could rock a fedora, well that is now possible! This is the time to unleash the fashionista hidden within all of us and take a step in this breathe taking world of fashion. Well, after you do that don’t forget to strike a pose and say cheese!!
Ethnic wear Traditional Indian clothing has come of
age and all focus is now on “The Indian Ethnic Wear. If you notice the trends in fashion industry, you’ll realize that modern fashion has aped the styling and designing of the bygone eras, the period of royalty, when Maharajas and Maharanis spent extravagantly on their clothing. Whatever the royals chose to go in for was reminiscent of splendor and luxury. The creative fashion designers of today are on the lookout for ethnic designs that take us close to our cultural roots and remind us of the glorious past. Well, here I have given wonderful long Anarkali dress with gray and shiny pink color combination. To enhance the beauty of the texture and color I have attached a very beautiful temple border with mirror work. The gray and pink combination is a unique and rare combination which makes it different and a cut above the other collections.
Designer: Nisha Gori.
In keeping with the festive look of the season I have used Raw silk fabric in a stunning colour combination of haute pink and black. The princess cut for the kurti enhances the flow of the fabric. The kurti with leggings can be worn for semi formal occasions. When combined with a churidhar and dupatta it can give the outfit a complete traditional look. Just combining it with different accessories can change the look from a semi formal to formal and for a wedding too.
Designer: Priyanka Noronha
This is a kurti with a difference. It’s a fancy kurti with a straight cut and boat neck. The open seamed top sleeves not only make it different but gives it a modern and trendy look. The fabric used is raw silk and the colour is bright blue. Combined with black leggings with bead work on it is ideal for semi formal occasions.
Designer: Madhura Kadam
INSD, Mumbai (Mulund) presents the festive collection of their students, Nisha Gori and Priyanka Noronha and Madhura. Each has their own individual style which has been an expression of their creativity. Keeping in mind the festive season Raw silk has been used in all the designs.
