The camera continues with its slew of click friendly features that was part of both the first and second model in this series. Standard features include 20.1 megapixels, 1 inch CMOS sensor that is supported by heavy duty Bionz X image processor from Sony.

There is a DRAM chip behind the CMOS sensor which allows quick processing of image data, which again runs in megapixels, allowing capture of high quality, super definition images. All this without waiting for the camera to store the image before second picture is taken.

The ISO range of camera is 64-12800. The frame rate ranges from 14fps in burst mode and 240fps, 480fps, 960fps in normal mode. The high frame rate together with high ISO range makes it possible to shoot a sequence in super slow motion.

The zoom range of camera is from 24mm to 600mm. When the zoom lense is in a folded position it looks quite compact but when it is extended to its maximum length at 600mm, it looks massive. The “zoom assist” feature will help you to find your subject in wide frame mode and return back to its full zoom once you release the assist button.

The camera can also shoot video in super HD format with its 4k video recording support. This is done by capturing image frames at 17MP with 6k resolution which is later compressed and snipped to 4k resolution. The CMOS sensor of this camera uses a stacked architecture, as against non-stacked architecture in previous models, taking its performance to such high levels. This architecture has improved the performance of this camera by as much as 5 times as non-stacked CMOS.

The control layout is the same as in previous models, but it has better grip than previous models. The electronic view finder features a massive resolution at 1024X768 pixels, containing 2.35 million dots. The built in flash will pop well above the zoom axis, making it possible to shoot red-eye free photos. You can take as many 420 shots when the supplied lithium-ion battery is fully charged.

The camera is dust and water resistant. You can connect it with other devices using WiFi and NFC. The Wi-Fi feature will allow you to flawlessly upload your pictures to backup storage or share it with the world. The zoom takes 4 seconds to expand to full length from its compact closed form.

This is good camera to hold, for both the amateur shutterbug and as second camera for professionals. The DSLR users might prefer this camera when they are out on pleasure trip and wouldn’t want a bag full of interchangeable lenses with them.
