Steve Newman discovered the rewards of photography growing up in Los Angeles, California. His first 10 years of exploring light were spent behind a manual camera, developing film in a small bathroom and creating prints in the darkroom. An international career in the culinary arts provided Steve with a foundation of disciplined structure from which he has built his pride in craft. "I learned about light and composition while working as a cook at the famed restaurant Le Cirque in New York City," says Steve. "Not permitted to use a flash in the kitchen, I memorized my camera’s settings for the various qualities of light in my environment and clandestinely made exposures when the emotion was raw." Knowing that a successful career in photography required an understanding of business, Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and has excelled in management positions for international companies.
