Celebrating Colour Artistry

The L’Oréal Colour Trophy celebrated its 66th Grand Final in London, at Battersea Evolution, in June and it was an evening of excitement, inspiration, and recognition for some incredible winners.

Adding to the excitement was the fact that it was the first time in two years guests had the opportunity to join in person, plus the event was streamed globally.

Bloggs Salons, Bristol took the number one spot, seizing the prestigious L’Oréal Colour Trophy Award, while Andrew Mulvenna, Belfast was awarded second place and Peg Hair, Brighton scooped third place.

Other noteworthy wins included Tate Hair, Middlesbrough for the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Afro Award and Tribe, London for the L’Oréal Trophy STAR Award.

Also getting a shout-out on the night were the winners of the Future Talent Award, which recognises talent within colleges and academies. The successful five were: Sarah Johnstone, Amy Griffin, Isabella Aldridge and Caitlin Ross from the UK, and Alex Dromgoole from the Republic of Ireland.

Education and Excitement Meet at Matrix Evolve

The Matrix Evolve event combined education and high-energy presentations for an evening of showstopping excitement and inspiration.

More than 400 stylists from all corners of the UK and Ireland descended on the Audacious Conferencing Centre in the heart of Manchester for the show, while others joined online.

The show featured Matrix artists from the UK and Ireland alongside Global Spokesperson Alfredo Lewis and celebrity stylist Danielle Keasling from the USA. Creative colours ranged from deep pink to a twist on the popular face-framing balayage and a clean, lilac marbling effect.

“There is nothing like the Matrix community for shared encouragement and inclusivity for everyone,” said Alfredo.

the Sassoon Scholarship Winner

Phoebe Carraro from seanhanna was named winner of the prestigious Sassoon Scholarship, following a day of rigorous judging.

The 12 finalists were invited for a live audition and interview in London in front of a panel of judges, including Rachel Gould, Trade Marketing Manager, Denman International, Carla Salceda-Vasquez, Colour Director for Sassoon Academy and Karoliina Saunders, Fellowship Chancellor.

The Scholarship, supported by Denman International and powered by the Fellowship for British Hairdressing and Sassoon Academy, is designed for someone who is passionate about their craft but may not have the opportunity to undergo training. The Scholarship is open to all Fellowship members, and the winner will receive their choice of four Sassoon courses to learn and enhance skills in cutting, colour and styling, as well as a professional tool kit and expenses courtesy of Denman International.

“I was ecstatic when I received the phone call to say I had been chosen, and my heart was pounding out of excitement and joy,” said Phoebe. “I ran back to my salon to tell everyone the good news. This really is a career-changing opportunity and I will continue to feel the value from this for the rest of my career.”
