Sunday, Feb. 1
12:00 A.M. 12:00 A.M.: Greeley police responded to a report in the 200 block of 11th Avenue of a trespasser living in a resident’s attic. The caller, who sounded intoxicated, said he could hear someone crawling around and sawing things.
12:45 p.m.: Greeley police were asked to respond to a report of a cat in the 3700 block of 24th Street that was getting aggressive toward a woman and her grandson. The cat also had been leaving mice and rabbits on the porch.
Thursday, Jan. 29
5:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2800 block of 6th Street for a report of about a half-dozen kids starting a fire behind the Broadview Park bathrooms. The caller said one of the kids was especially chunky.
5:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2400 block of 18th Street to help an 80-year-old woman set up her voicemail.
Friday, Jan. 30 8:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 6800 block of 20th Street for a harassment call. A man reportedly spray-painted profanities on the sidewalk in front of his ex-girlfriend’s business and then fled in his red Nissan pickup. The man previously had done the same in front of the woman’s house. 4:30 p.m.: A man called Greeley police to ask a supervisor if “Sons of silence can go against God?”
Saturday, Jan. 31 11 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 95th Avenue and 10th Street to assist a man who thought he was accidentally being shot at while goose hunting. The man reported several rounds whizzed by his head. He suspected someone was nearby having target practice and couldn’t see him, but the man also felt he was pinned down and couldn’t retrieve his decoys. 11:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 100 block of east 24th Street for a report of a man drinking in public and knocking on people’s doors. The caller was not necessarily concerned about the man’s well-being but about the public drinking because, “We have rules against that.” 2:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 3000 block of 13th Street for a report of three kids on a residential roof throwing things at passersby. 2:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to 47th Avenue and 26th Street for a report of a man in a red Ford pickup equipped with a siren and a loudspeaker commanding nearby motorists to get out of their cars with their hands up.
Monday, Feb. 2 2:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1900 block of 12th Avenue for a report of a goose on a resident’s roof. The woman said the goose tried to fly away when she returned from work, but it just fell off. It was last seen walking in the alley between 12th and 13th avenues. 3:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 200 block of E. 24th Street for a report of a resident who was experiencing buyer’s remorse after purchasing a car from someone she met on Facebook. The car did not pass emissions and the woman wanted police to get her money back.
Tuesday, Feb. 3 6 a.m.: A man called Greeley police demanding to speak to an Officer Hulsey or an on-duty sergeant. The man was adamant about only speaking to Hulsey or a sergeant because the rest of the police department is made up of terrorists. 7:45 a.m.: Greeley police were called to the 1400 block of 9th Avenue on a report of people feeding a raccoon known to be living in sewer drain pipe. The caller wanted the raccoon picked up immediately, but it returned to its home before animal control officers arrived at the scene.
Wednesday, Feb. 4 4:15 a.m.: A man in the 1100 block of 75th Avenue called Greeley police to complain about two officers who were stalking him. The man also said someone was putting drugs into the water, which caused his cousin to kill his grandfather. The man also said a lot of officers drive around town with snipers hanging out of their windows.

3:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1800 block of 20th Avenue for a report of a heavyset woman who was knocking on doors in the neighborhood. One of several callers told dispatchers the woman appeared to be drunk because she said she was looking for a baby shower.

The woman was told officers would not get involved in a non-criminal, family issue. 7:45 p.m.: Evans police responded to Rock Point Drive for a report of a red car parked on a dirt road near a local farmer’s property. Police encountered a couple who were stargazing. They agreed to go elsewhere to stare at the stars.
Thursday, Feb. 5 9 a.m.: Greeley police responded to a fast-food restaurant in the 2400 block of 35th Avenue for a report of about 40 kids ditching school. 12:00 P.M.: Greeley police responded to the 4900 block of 9th Street for a report of a man who had left tacks in his neighbor’s driveway... again. The caller told police she has a pending stalking case against her neighbor, and said she would leave the tacks in the driveway if police wanted to respond to take photographs. The woman said any officer would be fine, except one, who she described as being “kind of a smartass.”
Saturday, Feb. 7 6:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2000 block of 6th Avenue for a report of a threat. The caller told dispatchers she bumped into an acquaintance who said she better not be going to the same house or else she’d “get the homies.”
Thursday, Feb. 5 4 p.m.: Greeley police responded to 12th Street for a report of a girl who the caller suspected of being on drugs because she was “walking with funny steps, like how the Germans used to walk.”
5 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 100 block of 9th Avenue for a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller told dispatchers his girlfriend violated a restraining order because he found out she is a paid Greeley police informant. The man wanted police to throw his girlfriend in jail because he doesn’t hang around snitches. 10 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 1400 Glenmere Boulevard for a report of a squirrel in a chimney.
Friday, Feb. 13 12:00 A.M.: Evans police responded to Yucca Circle for a report of a woman who was supposed to check in for a 35-day stint in rehab for methamphetamine addiction, but decided to go to the liquor store and get drunk at home instead. 11:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1700 block of 12th Street for a report of a couple that was possibly stealing clothing from donation kiosks throughout town. The caller said the police recently broke up a professional shoplifting ring and that she started “keeping an eye on certain people.” 1:15 p.m.: Evans police responded to the intersection of 49th Street and 35th Avenue for a report of a dead calf on the side of the road. The calf had gone missing when officers responded about 20 minutes later. 4 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the intersection of 11th Avenue and 26th Street for a report of an Abe Lincoln-looking fellow who was possibly high on methamphetamine.
Saturday, Feb. 14 2:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2600 block of 6th Street for a report of two people in a car following a woman and her children near the park. The woman reported the two people, an older man and a younger woman, kept driving around in circles and switching seats. When police responded, they learned the man was teaching his girlfriend how to drive stick.

Greeley/Evans Crime Log 5:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to the 800 block of 31st Street to check on a man who called dispatch but wasn’t making any sense. The caller told dispatchers his parents were teaching the angels to dance. Emergency responders were called to take the man to North Colorado Medical Center 9:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 400 block of 21st Avenue for a report of a drunk man trying to get into a resident’s house. The caller said the man appeared to be Latino but said he also could be Asian because he kept putting his hands together and bowing. The caller did not know if the man was wearing pants.
Monday, Feb. 16 12:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2700 block of 11th Avenue for a report of a man causing a disturbance at a local liquor store. The owner of the liquor store refused to sell booze to the man because he was already too intoxicated. The man left the store and tried again by walking through the drive-thru. 9:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to Cove Way for a report of a dog chained up outside that wouldn’t stop barking. Officers responded to the area and found the dog. It didn’t make a sound in the 10 minutes officers were there. 10:45 p.m.: Dispatch received a call from a resident in the 1300 block of 4th Street complaining about a large dog that is always on the loose in the neighborhood. The caller asked dispatch to make sure Greeley police and animal control officers would be on standby the following morning waiting for her to call about the latest escape.
Tuesday, Feb. 17 8:15 a.m.: Monday night’s caller from the 1300 block of 4th Street called dispatch as promised to report the large dog was on the loose again in the neighborhood. Greeley police and animal control officers responded. They encountered a couple walking their Boston terrier.
Wednesday, Feb. 18 7 p.m.: Evans police responded to Skyline Drive for a report of a dog that urinated on a woman.
Friday, Feb. 20 11:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to Bittersweet Park for a report of a man who had urinated on the pavilion. 9:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 4500 block of 29th Street for a report of a woman who shattered a residential window with a bottle of booze. The man just wanted police to know it was his wife who broke their window, not him.
Saturday, Feb. 21 12:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 5300 block of 29th Street to check the welfare of a caller’s neighbor. The caller worried her neighbor was trying to send a distress signal because the lights in the house were flashing for 20 minutes. 8 a.m.: A man called Greeley police to inform a supervisor that he went to the doctor yesterday, is tired of the games all these Weld County people are playing and is angry about the girl they made him see who looks like she is 11 years old. The man wanted a supervisor to call him back, but refused to leave a number because he had given it “a thousand times before.”
Tuesday, Feb. 24 5:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to a home in Glendale Drive for a report of a 16-year-old boy who ran off with his girlfriend. The boy’s mother told police he had been acting difficult lately and refused to go live with his father. Police advised the mother that teenagers can be difficult and that if she wanted her son to live with his father, she should take the 16-yearold there herself.
Monday, Feb. 23 5:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to the railroad tracks along U.S. 85 near 42nd Street for a report of a man riding his bike with a remote control in his hand, but not using it to control anything. Police responded and determined the suspicious remote controller was a fishing pole.

Tuesday, March 10 8:45 a.m.: Greeley police were asked to respond to the 1900 block of 76th Avenue to help a resident remove a squirrel that was outside climbing on the house and the deck. The caller was advised that animal control officers cannot assist with the removal of a squirrel from a residential yard. 10:30 a.m.: A caller apologized to the Greeley Police Department even though he said he was assaulted by an officer. The caller told dispatch he had already talked to the Weld District Attorney’s Office about filing charges, but wanted other officers to know they were still his friends.

Monday, March 16 5:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the intersection of 10th Avenue and 8th Street for a report of an intoxicated man pushing a stroller full of alcohol down the street.
St. Patrick’s Day 6:15 p.m.: A resident of Carson Avenue reported to Evans police there was an injured raccoon behind his dumpster. The caller wanted to know if he could “put it out of its misery.” The man was warned about discharging a firearm within city limits. 10:45 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2000 block of 31st Street for a report of a “farm pig the size of a motorcycle that had been squealing all morning.” When officers arrived, the potbelly pig had been moved inside, but police did warn the owners that they could be cited for disturbing the peace if additional complaints are made. 1:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1600 block of 6th Avenue for a report of chickens running loose, two of which had already been run over by passing vehicles. The owners were advised to contain the chickens and to get rid of the rooster.
Thursday, March 26 7 a.m.: Evans police responded to Empire Street after a woman reported to dispatch that her husband had called and was screaming in agony about an unknown problem. Officers responded to the home and spoke with the husband. He was having a painful bowel movement.
Thursday, March 19 2:45 a.m.: Evans police responded to a motel in the 800 block of 31st Street for a report of a child screaming. Officers responded to the scene, but could not locate a screaming child. They did speak to a man in the parking lot who said he and his girlfriend had just done the deed and that she can be a screamer in the bedroom.
Friday, March 20 2:15 p.m.: Evans police responded to Antelope Way for a report of an elderly man wandering around on the street. Officers responded and learned the man had just received a new prosthetic and was just out getting exercise.
Saturday, March 21 2:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 25th Avenue and 15th Street for a report of a man yelling and getting into “fighting stances.” No one else was around.
Monday, March 23 10:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 3200 block of 23rd Avenue. The driver of the car told police he pulled over to talk with his significant other rather than text while driving.
Tuesday, March 24 2:15 a.m.: Evans police responded to an alley off of Idaho Street for a report of a man collecting scrap metal out of a Dumpster. Officers responded and watched the man rummage through the Dumpster for about five minutes. When confronted by police, the man denied pulling anything out of the garbage. He was warned not to collect scrap in Evans. 7:30 a.m.: Evans police responded to Valley View Avenue for a report of a green camper that habitually speeds through the neighborhood, sometimes putting kids in danger. The caller demanded a squad car to respond or else he would handle the driver “in another way.” Weld County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the complaint.

Friday, April 3 1:45 a.m.: A man called Evans police about turning himself in on a warrant. The man, who sounded intoxicated, did not have any active warrants. A friend agreed to watch him. 9 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2800 block of 13th Avenue for a report of a ghost. The caller told police her ex-boyfriend lives in the attic, comes down as a ghost and takes invisibility pills. 9:45 a.m.: Evans police responded to the 1100 block of 37th Street for a report of an unusually high amount of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The caller told police he had recently been released from prison and that there is a lot more traffic now than there was when he went in. 10:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the intersection of 16th Street and 6th Avenue for a report of a man trespassing and doing push ups on the train tracks.
Monday, April 5 10:45 a.m.: Evans police responded to a restaurant in the 600 block of 31st Street after a manager threatened to fire an employee for not showing up for work. The employee told police she had a note from the doctor.
1:45 p.m.: Evans police responded to 37th Street and Riverside Parkway for a report of a man and a boy shooting off bottle rockets in the park. Evans police responded and determined the man and the boy were shooting off model rockets. However, because they were in a closed section of the park, officers did ask the “rocketeers” to move to a different location.
Tuesday, April 6 11 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 10th Street to assist an 18-year-old man search bus records for a missing juvenile. Officers quickly learned the missing juvenile was really the man’s 43-year-old mother. The man was upset his mother was “leaving.” Police told the man to suck it up and start acting like an adult.
Wednesday, April 7 6 a.m.: Dispatchers received a call from a woman in the 2400 block of 13th Avenue about a red flashing light in the sky. The caller just wanted to know if it was something she should be worried about. 7 a.m.: Evans police responded to a restaurant in the 600 block of 31st Street for a report of a dispute over a cell phone charger. The caller said a man tried to steal his charger and he “about punched his lights out.” The caller also was upset the restaurant manager didn’t do anything to help, saying the manager should have because he is a regular. The caller also noted he had never called 911 about anything in his life. Dispatch records showed he called 911 about 38 times since the end of March, mostly for courtesy rides. 12:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 7000 block of 20th Street for a report of two teenagers wearing basketball shorts who were “frantically” digging a hole in the common area next to a gas station. The teens were replacing a broken sprinkler head. 6:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to a motel in the 3000 block of 8th Avenue for a suspicious vehicle report. Officers drove by and located a woman sitting in her Ford Taurus eating fast food.
Thursday, April 8 4:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 3100 block of 21st Avenue for a report of a large wild turkey on the loose. The caller told dispatch the turkey appeared lost and that his nephew would try to catch it until police arrived.

Friday, April 9 6:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to Bittersweet Park for a report of a woman who walked her dog right through a city of Greeley soccer game. The woman’s dog pooped in the middle of the field. She didn’t bother to pick it up.
Saturday, April 11 11:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 10th Street at 50th Avenue for a report of adults encouraging children to race each other on their “mini crotch rockets.” 1:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1000 block of 14th Avenue for a report of a found orange iguana possibly carrying eggs.
Sunday, April 12 8:45 p.m.: Dispatchers received a call from an 18-yearold man who said he heard on his scanner Greeley police were looking for him. The man told dispatchers the police don’t need to be looking for him.
Tuesday, April 14 2 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 3600 block of 29th Street for a report of dogs running up and down the hall at a neighbors apartment. Officers asked the caller if the dogs barked or were otherwise excessively noisy, and they said they couldn’t do anything about animals moving around in another person’s condo.
Wednesday, April 15 4:15 p.m.: Evans police responded to 37th Street and 11th Avenue for a report of a child hitchhiking on the side of the road. Officers contacted the 10-year-old boy — who said he was walking home from school — and explained the perils of hitchhiking. The boy said he got the message.
Wednesday, April 15 11:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2700 block of 11th Avenue for a report of a white man who was loitering and harassing customers at a local liquor store. Police caught up with the man at a nearby coffee shop, where he had purchased a cup of coffee — possibly a vanilla latte — and was not causing a disturbance.
2:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 7100 block of 12th Street for a report of a snake. It was not threatening anyone.
Thursday, April 16 8:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 4th Street and 40th Avenue for a report of a car that was being driven regularly, but not parking in the same place on the street. The caller thought the movement was suspicious.
Saturday, April 18 11:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded — again — to the 1500 block of 31st Avenue for a report of a man receiving death threats from people inside his basement.
Monday, April 20 12:45 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 4300 block of 2nd Street for a report of a cat that gave birth to a litter of kittens on a resident’s porch and then left the scene. 12:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to F Street and 59th Avenue for a report of a black horse that looked like it was on the ground dead. Another horse was standing beside it not doing anything. Officers determined the horse on the ground was a sleeping colt. The standing horse was the colt’s mother. 5 p.m.: Greeley police responded to 11th Avenue and 19th Street for a report of a child standing on the sidewalk waving at cars.

12:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to 14th Avenue for a report of a family of snakes living under a resident’s deck. The snakes were scaring the mailman. 5:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to 1900 7th Street for a report of a squirrel foaming at the mouth. Officers told the caller the squirrel would likely die in a few hours. They advised the resident to throw it in the trash when it did. 5:45 p.m.: Evans police responded to Paintbrush Drive for a report of three goats without tags eating grass. 8:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to Trinidad Street for a report of a man walking up and down the sidewalk who looked like, “he was ready to do something.” 8:45 p.m.: Evans police responded to the 600 block of 31st Street for a report of a marijuana grow in a trailer at an RV storage business. Once on scene, officers told the manager marijuana was legal now in Colorado. The manager said he would just 86 the owners of the trailer.

12:00 P.M.: Greeley police responded to the 1000 block of 14th Street for a report of an argument between a man and a woman over utility bills. The man was upset with the woman because she ran up the charges, but refused to pay a portion of the bills. The woman tried to claim harassment because the man was nagging her about it. 12:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1800 block of 2nd Avenue for a report of a strange sound coming from a person’s TV.
Sunday, May 3 1:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1400 block of 9th Street for a report of a stolen bag of grass clippings. 6:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to Cedar Lane for a report of an argument between a man and a woman. The woman was upset because the man “half spent the night” with another woman. 11 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a liquor store in the 1100 block of 9th Street for a report of an intoxicated man practicing karate moves in the reflection of the store’s window. The man also urinated under the street light.

8:45 p.m.: Evans police responded to Abbey Road to talk with parents who reported they “found stuff” on their son’s cell phone that they didn’t agree with.
5 p.m.: Greeley police responded to C Street for a report of a 9-year-old kid who was being mean to a 6-year-old. The 6-year-old, who initiated the call, told dispatch he would say hi to the officer when he arrived and point out the mean kid, but added he didn’t want the 9-year-old to go to jail. He just wanted him to be nice.

Greeley/Evans Crime Log 9:30 a.m.: Evans police responded to Denver Street for a report of an injured squirrel lying on its back. The caller did not know what to do with the squirrel. Friday, May 8 10:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to a local convenience store for a report of a man who wanted to turn himself in for scratching a truck about nine months ago. 2 p.m.: A Greeley resident called dispatch asking if someone pierces a kitten’s ears if that qualifies as animal cruelty. The caller was referencing a photo she saw posted to Facebook. The girl who posted the photo lives in another country.
Sunday, May 10 12:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2400 block of 14th Avenue Court for a report of a suspicious person hiding out in the dumpsters taking photos of cars with a big camera. Turned out to be a college student working on a project. 8:45 p.m.: Greeley police spoke to a resident of 49th Avenue who wanted an officer to track down his stepfather because he was cheating on his mother with the cleaning lady. The caller wanted officers to ping his father’s cell phone to find him. Officer’s told the caller suspicions of cheating wasn’t enough to violate the father’s constitutional right to privacy. The caller responded, “Our president violates the Constitution all the time. I was hoping that would make it OK for you.” The caller was more satisfied when officers suggested he hire a private investigator.
Monday, May 11 8 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 800 block of 36th Avenue for a report of a dead cat beneath a resident’s porch. The dead cat was really a black ball cap. 2 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1600 block of 33rd Avenue for a report of a bizarre bird that needed to be relocated because it didn’t look native. When asked to describe the bird, which turned out to be a Chucker, the caller said it looked like, “A pheasant mixed with a penguin.” 3:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a restaurant in the 3000 block of 23rd Avenue for a report of a man who was refusing to leave without a refund because the restaurant served his girlfriend stale noodles.

10:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to a pawn shop in the 1500 block of 8th Avenue for a report of an intoxicated man having an unknown emergency. When police arrived, they learned the man needed a ride to a liquor store followed by a ride to a local hospital to sleep. He was told not to call 911 again unless he has a real emergency.
3:45 p.m.: An Evans resident called dispatch to report a suspicious vehicle on 31st Street and U.S. 85. The suspicious vehicle was an Evans police cruiser occupied by an officer who was working traffic.
Friday, May 15 11:45 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 13th Street and 21st Avenue for a report of an altercation between a motorist and a bicyclist. The driver of the vehicle told police a man on a bike rear-ended him and then tried to instigate a fight. The driver said he wanted to find the bicyclist to “teach him the ways of the road.”
Sunday, May 17 6:15 a.m.: A Greeley resident called dispatchers to report that he would be suing his landlord for writing his name as “Albert Ugly” on his eviction notice. 8 p.m.: Evans police responded to Denver Street for a report of a man who couldn’t see or breathe because his neighbors were roasting peppers. The man said he felt like he had been pepper sprayed, which he believed qualified as an assault.
Tuesday, May 19 3:15 p.m.: Greeley police were informed about a body wrapped in a tarp that had been on the side of the road for two weeks near Weld County Road 54 and Colo. 257. Greeley police passed the message on to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, because the area falls under its jurisdiction. Deputies responded to the area and determined it was just a tarp.
Thursday, May 21 3:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 400 block of 22nd Avenue for a report of a rooster stuck in a tree. The caller told dispatch the rooster’s legs seemed wobbly from being in the tree since 5 a.m., but appeared healthy otherwise. The rooster left the tree when police arrived and ran into a vacant lot. He was too fast and eluded police.

Wednesday, June 10 4 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a fast food restaurant at 11th Avenue and 26th Street for a report of a “fully intoxicated” woman. Police contacted the woman’s husband who responded to the scene and told officers their daughter had just gotten married. Something happened during the ceremony that made the woman want “to go get drunk,” the husband said.
Thursday, June 11 9:30 and 9:45 a.m.: Two Greeley residents called about suspicious construction activity on O Street and 35th Avenue. One caller was convinced oil field workers were pretending to be construction workers and was very upset she had to go through dispatchers to get a hold of Greeley police. Officers checked into it and were able to confirm the construction workers were legit and had proper permits.
7:15 p.m.: Evans police responded to the 3200 block of 23rd Avenue for a suspicious vehicle report. The vehicle turned out to be a Greeley police unmarked unit occupied by an officer conducting an undercover investigation.
Sunday, June 14 12:45 p.m.: Evans police responded to a motel in the 3000 block of 37th Street for a report of a man “possibly doing some illegal activity.” 7 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a bank in the 2700 block of 10th Street for a report of a man who had lifted the face plate of an ATM. The caller was concerned because the man was driving a beat up silver sedan from the 1980s, turned his hazard lights on while parked in the drive-thru and generally “didn’t appear to be a ATM repair man.”

The woman claimed being forced to sleep on an uncomfortable mattress violated her civil rights. 2 p.m.: Greeley police were again called to respond to detox in the 1100 block of M Street. The caller, the same woman from earlier, complained this time that staff members were trying to kill her.
Monday, July 6 3 a.m.: Greeley police responded to a hospital in the 1800 block of 16th Street for a report of a stranded carnival worker.
Tuesday, July 7 8 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1600 block of 9th Avenue for a report of a man who performed work for another man for a fee of $10, but was never paid. The caller told police the other man asked for two weeks to come up with the money. Police told the caller that if the other man required two weeks to come up with $10, then he probably had been scammed.
Wednesday, July 8 9:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to Denver Street for an unknown problem. The caller was less than cooperative with Weld County dispatchers, saying simply, “Evans police will know what I am talking about.” Police did not know what the caller was talking about.
Thursday, July 9 7 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 4100 block of Centerplace Drive for a report of an unoccupied motorized wheelchair laying on its side on the sidewalk.
7:15 p.m.: A Greeley resident in the 2400 block of 8th Avenue called Weld County dispatch and demanded an officer call him back to direct him to the nearest bus stop. 7:30 p.m.: Weld County dispatchers took a call from a man who claimed someone had stolen his identity and was responsible for a traffic citation he had received. “I know there is cameras everywhere, I’m not trying to run,” the man said. “When they got pulled over, they might be wearing the same thing as me, but it wasn’t me. Someone is playing mind games.” The man then suggested police should do a better job of identifying people. “When you guys pull over people, they should use the micro-gram fingerprinting thing — they sell them worldwide,” the man said. “I don’t know who’s doing this, but I’m not taking the fall.” Dispatchers quickly determined the man was calling from detox and learned from employees he wasn’t very happy about being there.

Saturday, Aug. 22 8:15 p.m.: Greeley police were called to respond to the 100 block of 21st Avenue for a report of a boy who broke another child’s Nerf bullet. The boys were playing with Nerf guns and shooting each other in the face, until one of the boys became upset and broke the other boy’s foam ammunition. The caller’s mother could be heard in the background saying someone needs to come down here and “teach that boy a lesson that he can’t break other people’s property.” Dispatchers told the child to tell his mother officers would be getting right on that.

When dispatchers asked the caller to confirm the information, he said, “Yeah, it’s a 15-foot wooden cross with an American flag on it...kinda hard to miss.”
1:45 a.m.: Greeley police responded to a possible theft of a pickup in the 6100 block of 15th Street. The owner told dispatchers he saw two people acting suspiciously near his truck. Before he could get a good look at them, the two people were picked up by and driven away from the house in a silver Chevy Blazer. While at the home, the Blazer returned to the area and dropped the two people off at the house. They were the man’s daughters who were trying to sneak out of the house.
Saturday, Aug. 29 4 a.m.: Greeley police responded to a convenience store in the 1400 block of 9th Street for a report of an unwanted customer. “If someone doesn’t get here soon, I am going to throw him out myself and it’s not going to be pleasant,” the caller told dispatchers.
Saturday, Aug. 29 8:45 a.m.: A resident in the 200 block of 19th Avenue Court called Weld County dispatchers to find out if there was a warrant for his arrest. The man told dispatchers Greeley police could swing by to pick him up if he was wanted. 12:00 P.M.: A high school student called Weld County dispatchers to find out if it would be illegal for her to videotape officers conducting a traffic stop for a school project. 12:15 p.m.: A high school student called Weld County dispatchers again asking that a Greeley police officer call her back because her report was due soon. 7:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1000 block of 13th Street to talk to a man about an eviction notice he received. Once on scene, the man handed the notice to police. Police told the man it was not a legitimate eviction notice because it was handwritten and his landlord was not seeking to evict him.
Sunday, Aug. 30 2:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to 6th Street and 24th Avenue for a report of an intoxicated man throwing his bike at passing cars. 4:15 p.m.: A boy walking in the 600 block of 10th Avenue called police asking for help because he dropped his cell phone in a storm drain near the Greeley Recreation Center and he was worried he would lose all of his contacts. Weld County dispatchers told the boy to contact his parents for help.
6:45 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2200 block of 16th Street for a report of a live bat in the kitchen. The caller asked for police to respond before the children woke up for breakfast. The bat was eventually caught and released about 8 a.m.
Friday, Sept. 4 12:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2000 block of 68th Avenue for a report of legs hanging from a shelf in a resident’s garage. The caller wasn’t sure if the legs were real or a Halloween decoration, but wanted police to check it out. 1 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a Mexican restaurant in the 2100 block of 9th Street for a report of a man who tried to pay a bill with a stolen credit card that had been expired for more than six years. There is a sign that reads, “If you need help, press this button.” 1:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a furniture store in the 2800 block of 35th Avenue for a report of a man standing outside with a sign warning potential customers to “read the fine print.” The caller, a store employee, wanted to know if the man could legally stand outside with his sign. 1:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1400 block of 102nd Avenue for an animal complaint. The caller told police a neighbor has two dogs; one that always is inside and the other that always is outside. The caller dialed 911 after she witnessed the inside dog push the outside dog through the doggie door, as it was attempting to come in from the cold.
