As we look back on a great 2015 we look forward to an even more productive 2016. I want to thank Sarah Sommers, Solutions At Work, for her board leadership. With her leadership, the board developed new programs and was more involved in issues related to the many changes taking place in our community. The Chamber is heavily involved in workforce development, school overcrowding and Reno/ Sparks downtown revitalization, to name just a few. Danny DeLaRosa of United Federal Credit Union will take the torch from Sarah as Board Chair for 2016. Danny has been deeply involved in our community and will provide great leadership.

I also want to thank those who have termed off the board for their outstanding service – Past President, Jim McClenahan; BAC Chair Dennis McGovern; Estella Gutierrez; Ann Silver; and Brad Woodring. I also want to thank our liaisons Steve Stegmeir, Windy Culver-Molezzo, Heather Lunsford and Linda Meissen. Your commitment, dedication and expertise have been vital for our Chamber success. So welcome 2016! It is time for my staff, our board and me to provide our members with great value for the upcoming year. Remember to Choose Chamber! Len Stevens CEO, The Chamber

Varney Padgett 1948-2015 It is with heavy hearts that The Chamber announces that Varney Padgett passed away on December 18, 2015 and laid to rest on December 30, 2015. Varney was a long-time Chamber representative for over 10 years; serving seven of those years with the Sparks Chamber of Commerce. His laid-back demeanor and professional approach to building relationships, not just selling, was what set Varney apart and contributed to his success. Our prayers and thoughts go to all who knew this great man. He will be deeply missed!
