Since 1958 Snow Peak is a pioneer of the outdoor lifestyle scene, dating back to 1958 when founder Yukio Yamai, an accomplished mountaineer, created his own line of superior climbing gear out of discontent for what was available. A family business since inception, each new generation of the Yamai family has brought a new enthusiasm for the outdoors to Snow Peak ’s product line. Yukio’s son, Tohru Yamai, created a line of camping products in the 1980s which were designed to bring the indoors outdoors, and these items are still hugely popular throughout Japan today. In 2014 Yukio's granddaughter, Lisa Yamai, launched Snow Peak Apparel, a clothing line featuring functional, considered, technical outdoor clothing made from innovative Japanese fabrics.

Rain and sun-proof tarp and tent. With space for four people, the tent and tarp can be used together or separated for additional modularity. The tent has a simple tunnel pole framework.
Recommended for the novice camper, these tents are easy to put up and come with colour coded poles with corresponding channels and pole pegs. All entry-level tents have UV protection and a PU and Teflon coating, and come inclusive of all pegs and poles. However, groundsheets and awning poles are recommended for most models.

The solid stakes were made by forging, a process whereby iron is heated to high temperatures and then beaten into shape. They are still made this way today in TsubameSanjo in Central Japan, a region famed for its high-quality metalwork and home to the Snow Peak head office.

The drawing process that forms a mug from a single sheet of titanium is performed under the guidance of a Tsubame-Sanjo craftsman. Titanium is tough and hard to bend, making it one of the most difficult metals to work with, but these highly skilled artisans possess an extraordinary eye that allows them to detect small changes in the composition of the material, so they can adjust the press accordingly.
