Conical Hull Board Mistral‘s product policy is characterized by a limited range of boards in type and size. The Kayak-SUP Flatwater M2 12‘6 Racer has an innovative shape. It’s conically tailored, measures 66cm at the top and only 60cm at the bottom. This conical board will always create a minimum of wet surface – no matter the weight of the paddler – leading to higher speed potential. This liberates us from having to make unnecessary additional boards.

Tests have proven that - when it comes to performance - laminated boards are very close to inflatables. The Mistral INFLATABLE INTERNATIONAL ONE DESIGN CLASS has the additional advantage that it focusses on the actual sporting event. As we all know, the last part of inflating a board is particularly difficult. The narrow cylinder pump of Mistral eliminates this problem. You can use a little trick that Melinda shows on the photo. With her upper body she presses the piston of the pump down, thereby lifting her legs of the ground, consequently using her entire body weight. MISTRAL BLADES

The perfect combination of high-tech materials and enhanced user friendly shapes. The paddle shaft can be described as the motor of the paddle whereby the physical force of the rider on the handle of the shaft is converted into propulsion. We produce the hardest shafts for racers. For them, the maximum energy at the paddle handle, which will not bend, should be transferred to the paddle blade. With recreational paddling this is different. Since adults, teenagers and children want to have fun during their day out on the water, they are less concerned about maximum propulsion. Our fiberglass shafts are therefore better suited to their adventures. They are softer and protect muscles and tendons. Whereas Carbon blades are very stable, in fiberglass paddles the blades are kept flexible, so that there is a certain amount of spring effect in the water which leads to a very pleasant paddling experience.

MISTRAL BOW PADDLE Three important reasons: 1) The stroke hand: when using a straight paddle shaft, the stroke hand will only transfer the power pulse of the arm to the index and middle finger when stretching the arm. This means that – when the paddle touches the water – the rider loses driving power. When using a bow shaft, the stroke hand will transfer the power pulse of the arm fully to all fingers (the whole hand). This means that the rider will not lose driving power during his first stroke. 2) Upper pressure: unlike a straight shaft the angle in a bow shaft gives the rider more paddle power due to the fact that he does not have to keep his hand close to his body whilst paddling. This means he can build more force when paddling and make deeper strokes.

2-piece, 3-piece Paddel

The Versatell paddle is offered in both a full carbon and fiberglass version. In the full carbon version the blade is also made out of carbon (see structure below right). The blade on the fiberglass version is made out of polypropylene with glass armouring. Both feather light blades have a high impact strength and do not damage the rails of your board.

3) A forward paddle range. The paddle range moves towards the nose of the board, avoiding one of the biggest errors in SUP, namely, the digging of the paddle blade behind the hip.

The single piece paddles from Mistral are generally equipped with an oval shaft. This increases the stiffness of the paddle and has the additional advantage that - when holding the paddle – you always feel that the paddle is in the right position to the board. In contrast to an oval shaft you need to control the position of a round shaft paddle by eye..

This blade Is characterized by its two surfaces. They are located at the back of the paddle, i.e. on the side facing the surfers. The dihedral blade has a slightly raised shape at the top of the blade which gently levels off towards the bottom. During the paddle strokes these blades will remain straight while completely flat paddles have a tendency to swerve to the left or right.

The dihedral-blade

This downright lightweight Gold Edition is designed for the serious surfer who does not want to be burdened with a heavy paddle during short or long distance rides. Since paddle weight has become increasingly important & in order to meet the demand for lightweight paddles, we have developed a full carbon paddle. However, we have gone one better. With only just over 400g in weight, the Gold Edition is one of the absolute lightweights in the market. Since we kept the paddle blade very thin, it is reinforced with an ABS edge so that the paddle is protected against ground contact & blows to the board. The ABS edge therefore ensures that both board and paddle blade are protected.
