Q1 | MATERIALS & HARDWARE KITES
We have trusting and longstanding relationships with our partners, who supply us with our basic materials and share their own developments and improvements with us.
TECHNOFORCE D2 SUPERIOR DURABILITY WHAT IS D2
Q1 - DACRON AND TECHNOFORCE D2
Teijin is the world’s leading supplier for polyester fabrics and sail materials for all kinds of marine sports. We use the remarkably durable Teijin Dacron for our leading edge, struts, wingtips and wherever high tension or an applied load is found. Technoforce D2 is used for our canopy. Technoforce D2 was an exclusive coating development for North Kiteboarding, which has proven its superiority in durability and dynamics since we started using it.
STEP 1
Coating of the single yarn
For more than 7 years North Kiteboarding has been employing Technoforce D2 on all kites in the range. To create this exceptional material the single yarn is coated before being woven to one fabric. As an additional step, the whole canopy material is coated a second time thus creating a fabric whose durability is unmatched in the industry. In order to further improve and optimize the fabric for kite specific requirements, our team is continuously testing, developing and evolving it in close collaboration with Teijin, the world market leader in polyester fabrics. D2 – DOUBLE COATED CANOPY
Due to the Double Coating, the material stays crisp for longer. The unique coating procedure is not just protecting the final canopy, but every single yarn is coated before the final weaving process and therefore every single yarn has an additional layer of protection. Even if the coating comes off the first layer, the yarns themselves stay coated. Not just protected from the sun, but also from salt crystals, sand, small stones and other sharp objects. WHY
We love our kites so we want them to last as long as possible. Kites regularly are exposed to factors that wear them off. Especially UV light strongly influences the ageing of the kite. Exposing your kite to UV light for too long can reduce the crisp steering and flying feeling – sometimes within days. STEP 2
STEP 3
Weaving of the coated single yarns to one fabric
Coating of the whole canopy material
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS OF D2 – UNIQUE FLYING CHARACTERISTICS
› Higher diagonal stiffness than normal canopy materials. › Higher performance: The stiffer overall structure stabilizes the kite and makes it faster. › Crisp and very direct response to steering input. Due to the dynamic pressure forces on kites, the stiffness of a kite is immensely important regarding the flying characteristics of a kite. Keep in mind that the kite canopy material still is a delicate fabric. Fins and sharp objects can cause small scratches when being used for securing the kite on the ground. These may appear harmless but can destroy the kite during the next session when forces impact the canopy.
Q1 - AIRPORT VALVE II
Q1 - ABRASION REINFORCEMENTS
For 2017 all kites are equipped with the completely redesigned Airport Valve II. To ensure user friendliness the non-return valve has a valve cage which prevents damages of the setback membrane in the inside of the bladder. Reassembling of the secure ring is completely easy due to a secure ring tool which is additionally delivered. This new system doesn’t need a velcro system and is not twistable. The thread of the Airport Valve II is redesigned and is less affected by sand or other materials. The top of the valve can be opened and closed easily. The Airport Valve’s II unique construction has several advantages, but first and foremost it saves time rigging and gives you more time on
All areas exposed to scuffing strengthened with STPU reinforcements renowned for its durability against abrasion.
the water. The valve works with any conventional pump or compressor as it can be connected directly to the bayonet insert of the hose. The valve is suitable for both, inflation and deflation. The deflation option is integrated, which means no external deflation pin is required. Deflation is simply activated by turning the blue wheel on the inside of the valve completely to the right. A short sizzling noise, which is a very small amount of air escaping from the interspace of the valve, when taking off the bayonet fitting is normal. The valve enables fatigueproof inflation due to the bigger air passage. Even bigger kites will be inflated with ease. The new North Kiteboarding pump works 100% perfect with the Airport Valve I and II. PLE ASE NOTE: Should you choose to deflate the kite via the DUMP VALVE, ensure to loosen the valve cap of the Airport Valve II before opening the dump valve. This prevents a possible rotating of the bladder in a deflated state.
Q1 - LAZY PUMP
The North Kiteboarding Lazy Pump system enables the inflation of the kite from just one valve. Clips close off struts from leading edge to prevent unwanted airflow in case of damage or simply to only deflate the leading edge.

Q2 | EMPLOYEES & PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES KITES
We expect a lot from the people who manufacture our kites. This is why we work with technically trained employees, familiar with high tech production techniques, equipped with years of knowledge and experience. These experts are highly motivated due to a long-term investment in their capabilities, controlled working conditions and a fair wage system.
Q2 - TQM–THE QUALITY CHECK CARD
Q2 - COMPUTERIZED SEWING
A detailed quality control system has been developed, controlling every step starting with the delivery of raw materials to the factory and ending with the final delivery of kites to our customers. In between, every single stage is optimized to the smallest detail. The quality check card is the key to keeping precise control over the process for every individual kite at every stage.
All critical seams are done with computer supported sewing machines. This avoids human mistakes and inconsistencies, increases the productivity and reduces waste from cut off materials; it is the only way to create a perfect and consistent result every time.
Q2 - COMPUTERIZED CUTTING
Q2 - GLUED ZIGZAG STITCHES
Computerized cutting ensures millimetre precise working pieces, a minimum of waste and a maximum of efficiency of the cutting process itself. This way the high expectations of our two kite designers can be met to their full satisfaction.
Every single seam is stitched with a zigzag sewing technique. They are first glued then stitched. The result is a clean, good-looking and highly durable stitch, which supports the overall stability of the kite.

Q3 | CONSTRUCTION DETAILS & DESIGN KITES
Many construction details optimized in the Progression Q process have resulted in innovations that have become industry standard. North Kiteboarding stays at the cutting edge of R&D by working with two experienced kite designers and numerous product developers to ensure improvements are transferred to each product in our range. Durability and functionality of our products are a direct result of experience and workflow.
Q3 - LOAD DISTRIBUTION PANELS
Q3 - FUSION STRUT
Q3 - HEAVY DUTY LE CLOSING SEAM
Q3 - SELF RESCUE HANDLES
As kite geometry improves, the canopy must continue to resist increasing forces. To spread these forces, LoadDistribution-Panels are used, holding the kite’s shape even under the most extreme loads. In practice this gives a smoother and more consistent performance from the kite in any riding situation.
This construction allows for a controlled distribution of forces between strut and leading edge. Struts are 100 % connected to the leading edge with a flexible Dyneema line, which promotes higher canopy tension and a clean profile.
The leading edges of all kites are extremely durable due to a special heavy duty closing seam. The Dacron material at the leading edge is reinforced with a self sticky Insignia Tape and double stitched additionally. The Heavy Duty Leading Edge Closing Seam is resistant to very high tensions and diagonal forces.
The self-rescue handles on the inside of the wingtips can be easily found in case of an offshore break down. They provide a good, comfortable grip while sailing back to the shore during a self-rescue manoeuvre.
Q3 - DOUBLE-V PIGTAILS
Q3 - KOOK PROOF CONNECTORS
Q3 - TRAILING EDGE FORCE CONTROL
Q3 - ANTI SNAG
These pigtails distribute the load of the line connections to the kite, minimizing the risk of fatigue, making the kite less prone to distortion and helps it to steer more smoothly.
The kook proof line connection points prevent accidents by guaranteeing that you cannot accidentally connect your lines incorrectly when rigging your kite.
The Trailing Edge Force Control is responsible for the smooth power distribution between the different materials of the kite, forcing the tensions in the right directions. Since 2013 the waves are higher and wider to eliminate stress points between the Dacron Trailing Edge and the D2 Canopy material. This change in construction reduces fluttering marks and ensures that the material is not wearing out.
The Anti Snag webbing is preventing the lines from tangling around the tip of the kite. Waterstarts are made easier and safety is increased.

KITE TECHNOLOGY KITE SHAPE
The influence of the strut configuration on a kite’s flying characteristics can be summarised in the following two sentences: › A kite with fewer struts will be more responsive in turns. › A kite with more struts will be more stable, resulting in a larger windrange. The more struts, the more the profile of a kite can be stabilised. The downside is the increased weight of the overall construction.
The shape of a kite has an immense influence on its flying characteristics. The table below gives a short overview of the different shapes and their impact. Of course there can be kites which combine the advantages of different worlds, so this is just a very general overview of the classic pure kite constructions.

VEGAS THE NEW KING OF POP
KITES . 020/021
Pop into Wakestyle / Freestyle mode with the kite of champions: The Vegas! Still maintaining its position as the most sold C-kite on the market, it proved itself once again by taking its second Red Bull King Of The Air title at the hands of Aaron Hadlow. We caught up with Ralf Grösel, designer of the Vegas, to get an inside view on the development process and product updates for 2017.
What was your vision for developing the 2017 Vegas? As the Vegas has been so successful - still retaining its status as the most sold C-kite on the market - I didn't try and develop it from scratch. The task was to maintain that well-known Vegas 'feel,' but fine-tune and improve its flying characteristics further towards the hardcore Wakestyle, and Mega-Loop disciplines; after all, Hadlow has won the Red Bull King Of The Air for the last two consecutive years on the Vegas.
What´s your recommendation on the different settings? For Wakestyle I recommend using a Medium depower setting with the Hard steering setting. For Freestyle I suggest the High depower setting with a Medium steering setting. For Competition riding I advise the Low depower setting with the Hard steering setting.
Did Aaron have much input into the R&D process for the 2017 Vegas?
Which line length do you use on the different size kites?
For the last two years Aaron has been very involved in the development of the Vegas. His ability to judge a prototype in a few minutes really helps the process. He's so familiar with the kite and demands a lot in terms of performance. We tried several different approaches and tested every concept from Wakestyle to Big Air, and Mega Loops.
The Vegas works best with the Wakestyle bar which only comes with 22m lines. If you're feeling really adventurous, then try the Hadlow 6 line setup.
What are the main differences of the Vegas compared to the 2016 model? We completely redesigned the middle section of the kite. This section – from centre to the quarter strut – determines the pop factor which is of paramount importance for the Vegas. By adding one more panel to each side, I was able to create a smoother arc and therefore a cleaner profile. Having added in the new Dacron frame – which is seen in the whole 2017 range – I was able to ensure an extremely stiff and durable product, as well as enabling us to work on a more efficient pop by choosing a deeper, thicker profile. This framework is ideal for optimized 3D shaping of the canopy. All these details culminate in much more unhooked pop, better lift and reduced tendencies to back-stall when unhooked.
In a nutshell, what´s new for the 2017 Vegas? An additional panel between centre and quarter strut for a smoother arc, a deeper and thicker profile for more pop and lift, and a Dacron frame for more precise handling and less possibility to back-stall.

DICE DARE TO DIVERSIFY
KITES . 026/027
Rolling into its fourth generation is the Dice. With improved Wakestyle performance, 4th and 5th line compatibility, unique pigtail setup options and varied flying characteristics, this kite will put in a show-stopping performance no matter what's thrown at it. Find out more from Ralf Grösel, creator of the award winning Dice.
What was your vision for developing the 2017 Dice? The 2016 Dice had a very positive feedback from the market. Its performance places it between Freestyle / Wakestyle and Wave riding, which is an attractive quality that appeals to a very wide demographic of kiteboarders. We noticed that riders were moving from the Vegas towards the Dice, mainly due to its Freestyle abilities and overall range of use. Furthermore, it attracted a growing group of young ambitious riders wanting to push their skills. All this highlighted the need to
What are your recommendations for the different settings? The new 2017 Dice 'speaks' to you on all three settings. I had to put a lot of effort into fine-tuning them due to the new tip strut geometry and panel design. There's a significant difference between the Slow, Medium and Fast turning options, which you will notice in the Dice's behaviour straight away. The recommended setup is on the Medium setting - factory delivered- and is suitable for any kind of condition; it is also my favourite. This setting will deliver a lighter steering pressure
focus on differentiating the settings in order to deliver the desired versatility, combined with high performance which led to the core changes seen on the 2017 model.
when compared to the 2016 model, jumps extremely well, and when related to that all-important precise feedback it turns outstandingly. For me, feedback is the most important trait a kite can have and it must indicate its position at all times. For the Wakestyle / Freestyle orientated, pop and stability is key, therefore use the Slow setting. When riding a surfboard in waves, turning speed of the kite is paramount so try using the Fast setting.
What are the core changes on the 2017 Dice when compared to the previous model? I've changed the panel design which has had a massive impact on the structure and flying characteristics. The LE Dacron strip and 3D canopy shaping – which was first introduced on the 2016 Vegas – has been implemented into the Dice, but in a more radical way. Due to many requests, I've been able to create a cleaner, stiffer canopy to improve Wakestyle performance through precise shaping of the front part of the canopy. As the middle of the kite has become stiffer, I redesigned the tip strut by creating more of a curve for enhanced response to steering input, and to ensure that the Dice retains its playful nature. For 2017, we will also have three different lengths of the back pigtails which are sewed to the tips of the canopy and result in three, perfectly balanced different settings for Slow, Medium and Fast turning speeds.
Which line length do you use on the different kites? My recommendation due to how the kite sizes are developed is to use 22m for the smaller kites – up 10m. Everything above this is better suited to 24m lines. What´s new in 2017 to 2016 in a nutshell? A different panel layout with a Dacron strip along the LE. Dacron wave panels on the TE for more durability and canopy stiffness. A 3D canopy shaping for a clean canopy profile. A strongly curved tip strut for responsive steering input. Different length back pigtails to deliver more variation between the settings.

It´s the ultimate kite of choice for all those, who feel the design of the Vegas got a little bit too extreme over the years. A new panel layout with an immensely stable Dacron frame and wave panels on the trailing edge, enhance durability and the overall canopy stiffness. The dynamic curve of the tip strut offers responsive steering, whilst the variety of different length pigtails give even more variation between the different settings. 4 and 5 line compatible, the Dice is a confidence giver with great rider feedback and incredible stability in the air. EVO WHATEVER THE CONDITIONS SEIZE THE MOMENT
KITES . 030/031
The Evo is the crackerjack of all-rounders. A kite so accomplished in every style of riding, we at North Kiteboarding rate it as the most versatile in the range. The perfect blend of Freeride, Freestyle and Wave performance, the Evo is dressed to impress. We get the inside scoop from designer Ralf Grösel on the features and updates of the new 2017 model.
What was your vision for developing the 2017 Evo? The Evo is the most well-rounded kite within the North Kiteboarding range. Therefore the task was to focus on tweaking the finer details such as handling, depower, stability and ease of use. These attributes collectively play a fundamental part in the Evo's high performance across all disciplines and in all conditions. How does working with Team Riders help the development process? Feedback from the market and our Team Riders always finds its way into the R&D process. The aim of developing a product is to take the feedback onboard and workout how to implement these 'upgrades,' all the while maintaining those classic Evo qualities. This year Craig Cunningham has been part of my testing sessions for the Evo, as it always helps having someone else to bounce ideas back and fourth with. What are the core changes on 2017 Evo when compared to the previous model? This year you'll notice the lighter, faster steering. The three new back pigtail positions allow for the kite to be individually customised to suit
your riding style and needs. The difference between these three settings is significantly noticeable and you should definitely try them all out. I've also implemented the LE Dacron strip and 3D canopy shaping for a cleaner, stiffer canopy. What are your recommendations for the different settings? The factory settings combine the best of both worlds. Fast, light but still very responsive. Overall, I would recommend this setting as it fits perfectly to the general flying characteristics of the Evo. However, the Soft setting works best for strapless surfing and the Hard setting for big lofty airs. Which line length do you use on the different kites? If you're riding anything below 11m I recommend the 4 line 22m bar. For anything over 11m, I suggest the 24m 4 line bar. In a nutshell, what´s new for 2017? A new Dacron frame, new 3D Shaping for a very clean profile, and a different tip strut design for faster turning.

NEO WHERE THERE'S A WAVE THERE'S A WAY
KITES . 034/035
This year the Neo is full of spirit and ready to unify you with the elements. Whether you're a strapless freestyle fanatic or on a mission to get shacked, the Neo will get you to where you want to go. We caught up with Ken Winner to get a designers perspective on the new, 2017 Neo.
What was your vision for developing the 2017 Neo? As a dedicated wave kite, the Neo's top quality is its ability to turn quickly in a well-rounded arc and deliver power through the turn in a smooth and consistent fashion. It drifts well when the lines loose tension and is incredibly powerful for its size. Ultimately, if you can
reduced the leading edge diameter along with creating a slightly flatter profile. These changes help with turning speed, depower and a more direct bar feel thus improving the ability of the kite to signal its position in the sky.
use a smaller kite due to its power, then you are automatically using a faster turning kite. Our other top demand from the Neo is for it to provide constant and precise feedback about its whereabouts when in-flight, so the rider can fully concentrate on the wave ahead. For 2017, our vision was to further improve on all of these features.
What are your recommendations on the different settings? Most riders - particularly serious wave riders - will prefer the wave setting for the front bridle and the hard setting for the back bridle which is how Sky, Patri and I ride the Neo. The wave setting on the front bridle makes turning smooth and round with consistent power. The hard setting on the back bridle gives the most feedback on the kites location. For those who perhaps don’t have all the kite sizes they would like, try the Freeride setting on the front bridle to get more depower rather than switching to a smaller kite. Riders who like a lower bar pressure, then the soft bar setting on the back bridle is the one for you.
Did you work with any Team Riders in the R&D process for the 2017 Neo? Yes I always work with Team Riders, mainly Sky and Patri who live on Maui and are some of the smoothest, most capable wave riders in the world. They are both very demanding and sensitive to the slightest failing in a kite, so they keep me working hard. What are the main differences between the new 2017 Neo and last year's model? The leading edge diameter is slightly less in the smaller sizes of 4m8m. As the Neo is a wave kite, we didn’t want it flying to the edge of the window too quickly, so we didn't make the reduction too drastic. This small change definitely improves the Neo’s top performance and makes it even quicker through the turn. In the larger sizes we also
Which line length do you use on the different kites? We tend to use 22m lines on all sizes, but for a little extra power - at the expense of slightly slower turning speed – try using 24m lines on sizes 9m – 12m. In a nutshell, what's new for 2017? Incremental improvements in turning speed, depower and a more direct bar feel.

The Neo is a purebred wave kite ready to meet your wave shredding needs. Perfectly suited to hardcore wave fanatics and strapless wave freestyle riders, this powerful kite design allows you to use 1-2sqm less than you would normally do on other models, which automatically makes you use faster turning kites! The high performance design concept makes the Neo travel fast and effortless when riding towards the kite or surfing down the line, but delivers smooth power when needed, e.g. in powerful bottom turns. The Neo is the guarantee for a responsive ride with excellent manoeuvrability. Due to its accessible steering, the forgiving feel and a quick and easy relaunch, the Neo is also ideal for freeriding, doesn´t matter if on a twin tip or a surfboard.

MONO OUT OF COMPLEXITY INTO SIMPLICITY
KITES . 038/039
Out of complexity and into simplicity, the Mono is a product of our expertise in sophisticated innovation combined with the appeal of taking it back to basics. Read what designer Ken Winner has to say about this unique kite powered by a simple design.
How did the initial concept for the Mono come about? There’s a trend in every sport for more complexity. While we’re the leaders in the trend toward sophisticated innovation, we’re not blind to the appeal of simplicity. The Mono is a move towards simplicity. We stripped the kite down to its basic, essential components and packed the maximum amount of performance into the simplest package possible. How do you bring a concept and vision to life? With every new kite we start with design elements from other existing models. For the development of the Mono, we took characteristics from the Neo, Dyno and Rebel. Over time and with much experience, the Mono evolved to closely resemble the Neo. A Rebel or Dyno style kite really needs the stiffness and stability imparted by struts. Don't be fooled though, the Mono is not just a one-strut Neo, design is never that simple. We explored the idea of a strut-less kite, but after thorough testing we decided that one strut gave so much extra performance, especially in canopy stability, easy relaunch and smooth handling. We couldn’t live without it. Did you work with any Team Riders in the R&D process for the 2017 Mono, and how does that help? When developing the Mono, Sky and Patri were important testers for me. But I also worked with absolute beginners and intermediate riders. We wanted the Mono to have great performance that would interest an expert rider, but our main goal was for it to be a fun, comfortable kite for the less experienced rider. The guy or girl who can’t get out every week. Which type of rider would you recommend the Mono to and why? There are expert riders who really like the Mono for wave riding. That said, the Mono is a good kite for getting into the sport because it hangs
really well in the sky due to its light weight, it's incredibly durable due to the extra Dacron in the canopy, it relaunches really well and has a soft, comfortable bar feel. The Mono has more fluttering than a Neo or Rebel, which is usual for one or zero strut kites. However the less, experienced rider will find this really useful in terms of feedback and prevention of steering the Mono too radically, or powerfully through the wind window. What are the Mono's most standout features? The Mono has a unique combination of light weight and durability. Kites are usually either more durable than average or lighter than average, but seldom both. These qualities combined create a great Wave and Freeride kite. Is the Mono a versatile kite? The Mono has its own unique set of capabilities. It’s good for Freeriding, jumping and riding in waves. Its light weight makes it good for hydro-foiling because it hangs well in the air when underpowered. Its soft, comfortable bar feel, exceptional durability and easy relaunch capabilities make it a great match for the less experienced rider. Which line length do you use on the different kites? 22m lines on the Mono should do the trick, but if you're looking to gain some extra power you can go up to 24m, even 27m lines on the 9m-12m kites. Could you please sum up the new Mono in a nutshell? The Mono is a return to simplicity in a sport that can seem very complex. It has a unique combination of durability, low weight and high performance.

REBEL FREE YOUR RIDE
KITES . 042/043
A high performance Freeride and Big Air kite suited to everyone from beginner to expert, the Rebel will deliver maxim output with minimum input. Since the beginning, the Rebel has long been known for its exceptionally smooth, stable and shake-free feeling through the bar, but this year it's even better! Read what designer Ken Winner has to say.
What was your vision for developing the 2017 Rebel? The Rebel is a Freeride kite that has been fine-tuned across the varying size categories in order to emphasize the different aspects of its performance and capabilities. Whilst last year we adjusted the aspect ratios, this year we focused more on improving the range with an enhanced steadiness of bar feel, prevention of back-stalling and smoother turning abilities. The Rebel has long been known for that exceptional
range and smoother bar feel. We also moved the quarter strut slightly down towards the trip strut, which helps to keep luff and flutter in this particular area to a minimum. It also creates a rounder turning style similar to that of the Neo.
bar feeling which is extremely smooth, stable and shake-free. But this year it's even better.
and superior performance in over-powered conditions is the loaded 5th line. The cost of getting this superior performance is the need to ensure that the 5th line is the same length as the front flying lines. Riders should quickly check the 5th line length every five sessions or so. Anyone who finds the 5th line to be more than 1.5 cm or 2 cm longer than the front lines should shorten it by putting an extra knot on the 5th line at the V. The other Rebel adjustment can be found in the adaptive tip. Riders who prefer a harder, more direct bar feel, can use the Hard bar setting.
Do you work with any Team Riders in the R&D process for the 2017 Rebel, and how does that help? I live on Maui, so its' only natural for me to call on Team Riders who are also based here. I work closely with Sky Solbach and Patri McLaughlin who of course provide great feedback from the top end of the skill scale. In addition to this, I also worked with riders who have less experience and are less accomplished. It’s always good to get people of varying riding abilities to test an all-around kite like the Rebel. What are the main differences between the new 2017 Rebel and last year's model? This year we doubled the segment between the quarter struts resulting in eight, rather than the previously seen four segments. This design update gives the canopy a rounder shape in the front which eliminates tendencies to back-stall and gives a smoother, more precise and consistent profile overall. This consistency also ensures a larger wind
What are your recommendations on the different settings? One of the features that gives the Rebel its uniquely short bar stroke
Which line length do you use on the different kites? We usually use 22 m lines on all the sizes, but for extra power we sometimes use 24 m. In a nutshell what are the main updates for 2017? More segments in the center of the kite for a rounder profile entry and more consistent profile throughout the center of the kite. This ensures rounder turning, a smoother bar feel, enhanced wind range and prevention against back-stalling.

JUICE LIVING FOR THE LIGHTER DAYS
KITES . 046/047
The Juice features a lightweight design that delivers impressive low end power whilst retaining a dynamic bar feeling and responsive handling. A Juice in your quiver is the guarantee for even more time on the water.
What was your vision for developing the 2017 Juice? The Juice started as big Neo. It evolved from that beginning, of course, as it adapted to lighter winds, but it shares much of the Neo DNA. Further evolution will mimic to some extent that of the Neo, with smooth, round turning, good wind range and smooth, linear bar feel. Did you work with any Team Riders in the R&D process for the 2017 Juice, and how does that help? Sky and Patri, here on Maui, always provide great feedback, but I rely a lot on recreational riders for help with the Juice. What are the main differences between the new 2017 Juice and last years 2016 model? We continue to focus on refinements of profile shapes and leading edge diameter.
What's your recommendations on the different settings? The Juice is very straightfoward: The back bridle offers a soft, quick-turn setting for riders who want the fastest possible turning. The harder setting is for the rider who likes more solid bar feel. Which line length do you use on the different kites? A Juice will work best in it’s design wind range with 24- or 27-meter lines. What´s new in 2017 to 2016 in a nutshell? More segments in the center of the kite for a rounder profile entry and more consistent profile throughout the center of the kite. This ensures rounder turning, a smoother bar feel, enhanced wind range and prevention against back-stalling.

The system still has a commanding lead compared to other safety systems available on the market. This is why we at North Kiteboarding believe in the 5th line concept. What’s more, the 5th line makes water relaunch effortless and the loaded 5th line kite designs (Vegas and Rebel) offer a very short depower stroke, giving the rider ultimate control in gusty conditions. The benefits of this set-up are obvious and appreciated by riders all over the world.
The established 4-line system offers a single fronline safety system. When releasing the single frontline system all the power is redirected to one single frontline, whereby the kite will flag out easily and rest powerless on the water. Moreover, the kite will remain in a position that is ideal to relaunch the kite from the water. The safety pulley is specially designed for the single frontline safety system. The Quad Control bar is the safest 4-line bar on the market, offering unrivalled control and safety release options. The Iron Heart release is unparalleled in its efficiency and ease of use and forms the core of the bar through which the other safety systems flow. This allows the rider to get things back under control quickly and easily. The Quad Control Bar is identical to the 5th Element Bar aside from the 4 lines and single front line safety setup, ensuring it is the best on the market.

> 5 line with low V > Maximum power release delay > Maximum pop > Developed by the Wakestyle/Freestyle Team BARS
> Hadlow 6 line setup conversion kit included
The Wakestyle Bar is based on the Trust Bar but has been fully influenced by the North Kiteboarding Wakestyle /Freestyle Team. They wanted a shorter bar (42 cm), a bigger chicken loop, 22 m lines, single line depower with a rubber coating and the 5-line ”V” split very low at two meters away from the bar. The delay in steering and heavier pressure on the Wakestyle Bar with the recommended medium depower setting allows you to concentrate more on doing your trick and less about what’s happening with the kite or your input on the bar. The lower split on the 5-line ”V” noticeably changes the overall performance of the kite generating more power release delay, more slack, more pop and a delay in steering that makes doing doubles or holding grabs much easier and un-matched by the stock Trust Bar. Definitely a true wakestyle machine! Also included with the Team Bar is a conversion kit with instructions to switch the bar to the Hadlow Setup. Aaron Hadlow extensively tested with the North R&D team to make his signature line setup work better than ever before with the 2016 Vegas. This Hadlow setup combined with the low depower setting is the preferred way for 5x PKRA World Champion & 2015 and 2016 King of the Air Champion Aaron Hadlow to ride. In this setup, the kite offers an even more explosive pop, more power release and steering delay while giving up most of the depower compared to the 5 line Team Bar setup. Truly the most hard core feeling in the North Kiteboarding kite line up.

TRUST BAR IRON HEART IV
The North Kiteboarding Iron Heart is the benchmark for all safety systems and we are continuously aiming to further improve this essential piece of safety equipment.
MOULDED CHICKEN LOOP & CHICKEN DIG
The Winding Posts are made of a fully moulded fibreglass reinforced Polyamide construction, which offers an incredibly lightweight solution with increased stiffness. In addition to this, there is a moulded EVA cushioning to ensure maximum comfort for the rider. The Winding Posts feature an integrated backline adjustment, which allows the rider to trim the rear lines when needed.
Exchanging the Chicken Loop or removing the Chicken Dig is easy due to the grub screw. Simply use an FCS fin key to remove the screws. The flexible moulded construction offers comfort and allows for easy reassembling. It is warp resistant and dimensionally stable which makes it very easy to hook back in after unhooked tricks, as the loop stays in shape. BARS

Never ride without the cover. It prevents the knot of the leader line from slipping out of its housing.
With every North Kiteboarding Bar, there is a choice between the standard safety mode and an easy to fix suicide mode. Only very experienced riders with special requirements should use the suicide mode.

The moulded EVA floater is fully integrated into the winding posts to offer a seamless connection, which gives better protection to the lines and the rider. The integration of the EVA floater also avoids line tangling and gives better overall stiffness between the bar and lines. To achieve better and more direct feedback on the thumb, we added a push pin on the outside of the winding post for easy operation. The Flip-Flop function allows you to switch between a 53 cm and 46 cm bar width (M / L bar) and 49 cm and 42 cm bar width (S / M bar) with just one click. This makes the procedure of changing the bar set up far simpler.
Only the standard safety mode offers 100% safety. We recommend to always using the standard safety mode. Riders who use the suicide mode should be aware and responsible for the possible consequences!
PLASTIC FITTED CENTRE HOLE
VA R I O C L E AT A N D S L I D I N G S T O P P E R
The exchangeable insert for the centre hole is made of plastic, to minimise wear on the depower line. The material we use is resistant to abrasion, and will cause much less damage, if sand is present, to the line itself.
The Vario Cleat and Sliding Stopper enable a quick and easy adjustment of the depower stroke. Especially interesting for smaller riders who have problems reaching the bar in the regular setting. The height of the Vario Cleat and Sliding Stopper can be easily adjusted to suit personal preferences. The reduced size combined with the smaller Vario Cleat accounts for 12% more depower area. The 5th line channel reduces the risk of the 5th line getting tangled considerably.
ROTO HEAD
The Roto Head permits you to untangle the lines after a rotational jump or a kiteloop while you are riding. It is made from an extremely durable plastic construction where no corrosion is possible. The Roto Head comes with two grub screws making it easy and fast to change the depower line. Simply use an FCS fin key to remove the screws and change the depower line.
FRENCH NORM The following release systems integrated in the North Trust bar continue to fulfill all requirements of the French Norm: The quick release system of the bar (Iron Heart IV), and the quick release that separates the rider completely from the kite (safety leash). Both safety systems are tested in various media and the release force must not exceed 100 N (9.8 kg). The actual release process of both systems must not exceed 0.5 sec. The transition from riding position to release (reaching for
the Iron Heart or safety leash from riding position with both hands on the bar) must not exceed 2 sec. The grips of the release system must be red and the direction of release must be indicated. The release grips must be easy to reach. Furthermore, the Iron Heart must resist a load of 360 kg without deformation and without losing functionality. The same applies to the safety leash with a load of 180 kg. The system is tested in the toughest, sandiest and salty conditions that we can find.

North Kiteboarding has partnered up with CAPITA for the production of our Twin Tips. As an experienced Snow and Kiteboard production facility, the manufacturing process is sustainable and trustworthy. Located in Gail, Austria, the 4,000m 2 of factory floor has fully integrated production capabilities. Besides the exclusive technologies and patented processes, CAPiTA MFG is world renowned for its in-house ability to create, assemble, package and deliver a finished product to market. Its convenient location in Austria also makes the R&D process fast, effective and sustainable. One of the many reasons North Kiteboarding chooses to partner up with CAPITA for the production of our Twin Tips, is due to their focus on responsible manufacturing. With a zero CO2 emission the factory is 100% hydro powered. The new hydro power station was built in collaboration
with the local community. By utilising new production technology less energy is required. This is due to a reduction in processing temperatures and specialised water pumps that regulate climate control. CAPITA's philosophy promotes sustainable initiatives such as the development of reforestation, in combination with advanced industrial material recycling. Healthier production techniques are also utilised such as the use of water based inks, plant based resin and non-solvent finishings. CAPITA's ethos is to build the best Snow and Kiteboards in the world using responsible social and environmental manufacturing techniques, for a demanding and dynamic marketplace. There's no other way than the best possible way for North Kiteboarding to produce premium quality Twin Tips in a responsible and sustainable manner.

TWINTIP TECHNOLOGY North Kiteboarding Twintip boards are produced in a high-tech snowboard and kiteboard factory in Austria. Premium products are our aim, therefore only the best materials and cutting edge technology are applied to our Twintips. All Twintip cores are made from farmgrown Paulownia wood. To get light and durable boards, they are milled exactly to within 0.1 mm of the mould, to minimize and control the amount of resin used in each board.

> More dynamic flex for better pop. > Same durability at 10% reduced weight. We have implemented Carbon Beams in the Team Series, TS Hadlow, Jaime, X-Ride and Soleil boards. Thereby parts of the glass fibre are being replaced by unidirectional carbon. This reduces the weight by about 10 % while retaining the same durability as classic glass fibre construction boards. Highly durable, lightweight boards are the outcome.
KEY BENEFITS
> Unique carbon fibre technolgy noticeable improves your brands performance > 20% lighter than conventional carbon reinforcements > Unprecedented mechanical performance > Superior surface finish
ABSORPTION FLEX TIPS Based on a unique new construction of the board in the tip area, the scoop rocker line ensures better response to changing situations. In underpowered riding, the board remains flat for fast planing. In overpowered riding, the scoop bends and provides for an increased level of control and stability. The flex tips absorb shocks and enable soft landings. TORSION FLEX The special shape of the 3D cap allows torsion of the long axis of the board. This gives them more grip on the heel-side edge, rich and smooth landings, a direct drive and better upwind performance. Invented by North. TEXTREME ® HIGH PERFORMANCE CARBON TECHNOLOGY
SOFT FLEX Soft Flex boards are the most friendly and “easy to use” boards in our range. The Soft flex option is forgiving and simply fun to ride, even if you are an unexperienced rider. However, the Soft Flex option is also suitable for more lightweight riders. Following boards feature the Soft flex: Soleil and Gonzales.
> Spread Tow Fabrics (STF) for ultra light composites. > The carbon spread tow technology of Formula 1 Champions! The patented TeXtreme® spread tow structure makes the composite 20 % lighter, with an unprecedented increase in overall performance. This is based on the fact that the fibres are straighter in TeXtreme® than in any standard conventional carbon reinforcements. As a result of the optimized fibre structure, the end product will hold a larger amount of carbon fibres, while keeping size and weight to a minimum.

> The upwind ability is recognizably improved. > The handling and feel of the board is undeniably unique! TeXtreme® boards feel much smoother than traditional boards. > The pop is also improved and it is easier to release the board for loaded jumps. Getting the timing right for jumping will feel intuitive. > TeXtreme® boards are just like your own magic carpet. The board does all the work for you!
MEDIUM FLEX The Medium Flex boards combine competition performance with every day comfort. Precise adjusted materials offer control, power and comfort in just the right way to feel good in every possible riding condition. Following boards feature the Medium flex: Jaime, Select, X-Ride, Spike, Spike Textreme. HARD FLEX The Hard Flex option features the most aggressive flex and pop in our range. Boards with Hard Flex have more dynamic power development when jumping, more stiffness for better control on ultrahard landings and a unique pop to always be one step ahead of your competitors! Following boards feature the Hard flex: Team Series, TS Hadlow, Gambler and Jaime Textreme.

All of these pure freeride boards are produced with Biax Fibre for the best dampening and comfort. The new, rounder outline makes it fun in chop and the wider tip area helps to get going early. The straight outline is the reason for good pop and sharp edge grip. All of these boards are quite narrow which makes them fast and ensures the best upwind abilities.
The step double concave is the reason the Team Series is able to deliver massive grip - with or without fins, to meet the expectations of team riders competing in the world tour, as well as ambitous freestylers. The deep concaves provide massive grip and pop. A DVA N TAG E S

The next level and latest progression in double concaves is the combination with the SlickBase. There’s still all the advantages in grip and pop, just now combined with a super durable, easy sliding SlickBase, making the TS Hadlow and the Gambler great to slide on any kind of obstacles.

NTT CONTACT FRAME
NTT CONTACT PAD
NTT SPLIT STRAPS
HOW TO MOUNT THE NTT
The Contact Frame is the intelligent basis of the entire footpad. It is available in two sizes for best comfort likewise for larger or smaller feet. The construction perfectly adapts to the shape of our boards and does not interfere with the flex characteristics.
The NTT Contact Pad consists of the time-tested EVA footpad and the NTT Contact Frame. The foot bed is ergonomically shaped and perfectly combines fit, control and comfort. The footpad is enveloped by the Contact Frame, which reliably transfers the forces directly to the board. The direct contact between Contact Pad and board enhances the board feeling. > The enhanced heel of the Contact Pad reduces pressure in sensitive areas of the foot by increasing the cushioning effect. Also it changes the angle of the foot in the binding, which improves the foothold. > The anti-slip surface first employed in 2014, considerably increases the grip, keeping the foot in firm contact with the NTT. However, the surface of the inlays permits easy entry, yet prevents the foot slipping out. Maximum comfort & bombproof grip!
Together with the NTT Contact Pad, the NTT Split Strap forms probably the most functional footpad system on the market. The strap is covered with a fluffy velcro neoprene on the inside and outside. It offers great comfort and grip on the inside and due to the fact that the velcro sticks on anywhere, you always have perfect overlap and hold of the strap. The revolutionary split function offers the choice between maximum grip and optimum mobility.
The Track Nuts secure the Pad / Strap combination and mount to the NTT Combo within seconds. The Nuts can be moved laterally in The Tracks to adjust the distance between the pads. The Nuts are supplied with all series boards with The Track system..
> Bombproof grip & more control By moving the Strap Buckles backwards or forward, the split opens or closes. The further you open the split, the greater the contact surface that wraps around your foot. This offers bombproof grip and more control over your board as the direct result. > Optimum mobility
NTT HEEL CUSHIONS
The pad is supplied with three NTT heel cushions of varying hardness. The cushions permit adjusting the NTT Contact Pads to your personal preferences. > soft (yellow) for more comfort > medium (red) for the golden mean > hard (blue) for better control
The more you close the split, the more range of motion you get. The Split Strap comes with all-over padding and the width adjustment makes sure that the NTT Split Strap wraps tightly around any shape of foot. Achieving a great fit with neoprene booties is no longer a problem. The procedure is really simple and only takes a few seconds. THE TRACK PLUGS
The Track Plugs are made of TPE plastic and prevent The Track Nuts from falling out of the tracks. The plugs also make sure that the system is mounted correctly. RECOMMENDED STANCE
The central triangles on the NT T Contact Pad and inside The Track system indicate the Entity Combo’s basic setting, also known as the recommended stance. The recommended stance has been individually determined for each North Kiteboarding board. Some riders may prefer a different position.

Celebrating its 3rd generation the North Boot just keeps getting better! Driven by Team Rider Craig Cunningham and taking inspiration from our international Freestyle/Wakestyle Team, it's proven to take massive landings and steezy presses in its stride. A premium product designed specifically for Kiteboarding its medium stiffness not only offers outstanding support with maximum heel hold, but also allows for freedom of movement and as much flex as the rider commands. This TPU Crease Eliminator Patch absorbs the stress from going upwind or loading tricks thus forcing typical creases into this specific area which helps your boots maintain their stiffness over time. The reworked toe area creates an incredibly comfortable and more streamlined fit, as well as lowering any chances of pinching or creasing in and around the foot. The reinforced ballistic nylon tongue erases potential pressure points, while the reinforced heel retention strap firmly holds the back of the foot in place. The redesigned closure system now offers the option for a full lace setup and/or a removable velcro on the upper section. This combined with the frictionless eyelets makes getting in and locking down your boots a cakewalk!

COMPACT SURF CONCEPT
Kitesurfing waveboards require a completely different construction than normal surfboards. Most of the modern kitesurfing waveboards need inserts, are used for jumping and in general have to be very durable and robust. Therefore North Kiteboarding has developed three different kinds of constructions all offering highly technical and modern features.
TECHNORA NET Technora is a para-aramid fiber with excellent technical properties for high performance kite surfboards. It’s high-tensile strength, good fatigue resistance and long term dimensional stability make it an ideal fiber for use in areas of boards that take repeated impact. We have oriented the Technora fiber in a way that does not affect the overall feel and flex of the board and have slightly altered our overall layup in order to not add any additional weight to the boards while still taking full advantage of the superior strength of Technora to prevent cracking and breakage.
BAMBOO TECH Bamboo is a sustainable material and comes with amazing technical characteristics. our bamboo tech waveboards feature a high strength to weight ratio with great resistance to dents and perforations. The resulting boards are very durable and provide high performance riding characteristics.
DIRECTIONALS
COR K S HOCK ABSOR B E R Cork offers excellent absorption characteristics and reforms entirely without leaving any visible dents in contrast to PVC. Therefore it is applied as a damper in the heel area of the surfboards.
RESPONSIVE FLEX Using our bamboo tech construction, we take full advantage of the dynamic qualities of natural bamboo. Optimized layers and the mix with composite materials help us to construct powerful, agile and versatile directionals that come with a unique flex – responsive flex!
X- S U R F All Pro-Boards fulfill the needs of the X-Surf concept and are ideal shapes for both kitesurfing and surfing. All Pro-Boards have enough volume for a good paddling ability and also operate well when relying purely on wave energy to generate speed. The Pro CSC and the Pro-Surf don’t even have inserts and are the perfect performance hybrids perfectly suited to bridging the gap between kiting and paddling in small to medium surf. The Pro-Surf and the Pro CSC are the go-to board for team riders and advanced surfers in nearly all conditions.
S H O R T E R C O M PAC T S H A P E Allows you to dominate the entire board for explosive and controlled snaps. Fits the pocket perfectly. Better rotation for strapless freestyle. Compact size fits in a smaller board bag. L E S S N O S E I N F R O N T O F YO U R F R O N T F O O T Less swing weight, more compact shape, better for rotations and more balanced proportions. STRAIGHTER RAILS Straighter effective rail line offers superior grip, hold and stability in choppy conditions.Straighter low-drag outline planes quicker and carries more speed while surfing down the line.
M U LT I B OX All boards now come with our own Futures Fins compatible fin boxes. Two side set screws and no rear tab allow for a wider tolerance of fin fitting and ensure a perfect and tight fit every time whether you’re using our high quality composite fins or any stock after market Futures brand fin. Easy to install and uninstall even with Sand and Salt.

PRO SURF / PRO CSC / PRO SESSION
WA M / W O O H O O / W H I P C S C / N U G G E T C S C
This is a brand new construction mainly developed for strapless riding. The amount of cork shock absorber in the deck has been reduced by around 30%. Instead of a large single piece of cork there are now long strips where riders are likely to land hard with their heels. Removing the footstrap inserts eliminates the need for extra reinforcements and patches that are normally there to prevent cracking around the inserts as well as a heavy glass reinforcement under the heel area of the front foot that takes repeated and direct abuse when riding strapped. A large glass fibre patch on the bottom of the board has also been replaced with two smaller and lighter weight bamboo strips and an unidirectional carbon strip outside the lamination to prevent buckling. All boards are reinforced at necessary critical spots.
This classic layup is the result of all our years of development to create a durable, all-round strapped / strapless construction that combines the best elements of flex and feel with a durable construction that is proven to be far superior in strength to weight ratio than any other technology available. Please note: Inspired by the Light Team Construction the bottom of the Classic Construction now offers two light weight bamboo strips and an unidirectional glass beam outside the lamination to prevent buckling.

The Pro CSC is a completely new shape 2017 in Light Team Construction, best suited to wave riding in small to medium waves and strapless freestyle. A board Airton Cozzolino and Matchu Lopes use to turn heads at the Tarifa Strapless event finishing 1st and 3rd. The goal for 2017 was to shape the Pro CSC even shorter than in 2016 by keeping a very similar outline and rocker, but by essentially shortening and rounding the nose. Besides just being shorter, the main performance advantage is less catching in the nose when doing very tight snaps in steep sections. CSC shape is teamed with perfectly balanced volume and the all new Polyester Pro Fins for snappy turns. The scooped out area underfoot and a lower centre of gravity in combination with the ultra thin new Traction Pad Pro increases grip and control. The Pro CSC is your golden ticket to progression.
The Pro Session is a fast high performance surfboard best suited for riders looking for a board in the Light Team Construction with powerful, carvy drive through turns. It´s a brand new shape replacing the Kontact, designed for medium to big waves, strong wind and aimed at maximum control and performance when the conditions get challenging. The shape of the Pro Session is quite wide thus offers a much wider range of use than the Kontact. Team riders like Airton Cozzolino and Matchu Lopes were asking for a modern rounded pin tail board that was made for carving and drawing clean lines on medium to big waves, still offering loads of stability, speed and control when the waves are big and barreling. It should also be very versatile, turn very tight and be able to take explosive snaps, also in medium waves. This is how the Pro Session was born. Ride it with or without straps, depending on your style and conditions.

Easy to handle and driven by the modern Compact Shape Concept, the Whip CSC is the top choice for riders wanting a forgiving and playful board, great for small to medium waves and strapless freestyle. The Whip got a major face lift for 2017. It has a brand new outline and rocker with nose shape similar to the new Pro CSC and a wide swallow tail. The main goal with the Whip was to keep the low end speed, glide and stability, but to loosen up the turning to make it more snappy and user friendly. The main thing riders will notice is how much easier it is to do a snappy, tight top turn. Straight rails offer superior grip and stability for smooth, wide and carving turns on the wave, with a glossy feel underfoot. Prepped and ready for strapless freestyle the Whip CSC will pop, rotate and slide with great flow.
Classic, smooth and controlled, the Wam is the best allround performer no matter the conditions. It is the solution without any regrets for those who are looking for the one-for-all board in their quiver. The perfect match if you´re wanting a traditional yet stylish ride in classic surfboard shape: no wonder the Wam has gleaming reviews in magazines all over the globe: Its unique squash tail, wider nose, rock solid platform and increased rail line create a remarkable performer with outstanding light wind planing abilities. The wide tail is still loose enough for smaller waves, the straight outline ensures good control and smooth carving whenever needed. For the Freerider looking for a board to progress on, the Wam will do the work for you.

All flying lines have the ability to shrink over time, influenced by many factors such as temperature, age, UV-light, abrasion, dirt, etc. This shrinking

can make the exchange of spare lines difficult. That´s why North Kiteboarding has introduced Adjustable Flying Lines. With an additional segment in the upper part of the line, it allows for straightforward adjustment of the line. The Adjustable Flying Lines have an exchangeable line segment between the Pigtail and main (adjustment) line of 30 cm length. Included in the delivery is a second line segment of 20cm. By exchanging or removing the line segments, the Adjustable Flying Lines can be shortened by 10 and 30 cm. Additionally the Pigtails of the flying lines are available in different lengths (20 / 25/ 30 / 35 cm). This in combination with the Integrated Backline Adjuster of the Trust Bar, offers a variety of possible adjustments in line length.
