I was born in a Tibetan family. Though the school education I receive lay great emphasis on the culture of the Han nationality, I am mostly obsessed by the land where I was born and grown up. I am pound of the live style of our Tibetan people, the customs, our ancestors’ worldviews, rituals and legends that have a history of thousands of years. These, all together, have been the sources of my imagination when I design my works. Because of the unique social and cultural background, I believe I will provide a unique perspective in my designs. In modern society, people tend to follow mainstream culture without much aesthetic and critical thinking. For fear of being marginalized, those who with different aesthetical interests, experience and tastes are silenced, choosing to hide their ideas and opinions. As a result, cities, although they differ in history, sociocultural contexts, and geographical location, are becoming increasingly homogeneous.
3
In my portfolio, I aim to challenge the single and monotonous aesthetic standard in urban design and planning, and create a diversified living environment. In my first project entitled Suspended Daily, I try to create a multifunctional community with a sharp futuristic style near the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, a landmark of Xi’an, China, which can coexist harmoniously with its surrounding Tang-style commercial buildings. The second project, Reciprocation Loop, intends to create an architecture to bring youth and validity to the ancient Ming Dynasty city wall in Xi’an. The third project is named Healing Ring, which creates a healing space for the elderly who live alone in isolated pit courtyard houses by using underground landscapes. The last project, Waving Nature, is designed with a purpose to restore the local ecology and improve the abilities to resist disasters in Mianyang, Sichuan, where there are usually floods in rainy season. Taken together, I hope my projects could arouse people’s deep reflection on what constitute quality urban design, and how could we create tolerant, diverse and harmonious cities by integrating different and even contrasting elements in our design.

Suspended Daily Area: 42.1 ha Location: Xi'an, China Work form: group academic work Time: October 5th-December 2rd, 2019 Collaborator: Sun Haoxin Instructor: Liu Kaixi
In today's society, it seems that everyone is trying his/her best to pursue career success and material gains. People, especially the young, are inclined to hop from one job to another, expecting for a better life portrayed by media and presented by celebrities. They paid so much attention to the possibilities in future that they ignored their current lives. I hope my first project, Suspension Daily, could help them focus on the present. I wish people would conduct constant self-observation to know about their current problems and then gain motivations to strive for the future. I also expect to distract people’s attention from their pursuit of wealth and encourage them to live in the moment happily, which I believe will benefit those who feel unprivileged and deprived in the modernization process of China.
DEAD-CIRCLY DEVELOPMENT MOUDEL
The outward expansion of cities gradually absorbed or surrounded the countryside and part of the land changed from agricultural land to state-owned land. Most farmers who have lost arable land can only start from scratch and enter new fields, such as commerce. Service industry etc. Income is low, but consumption is high. The ideological and behavioural habits of villagers cannot quickly adapt to the new environment, and illegal behaviours are more likely to breed in urban villages that are different from urban management. The villagers profited from renting houses. To maximize profits, many illegal buildings were added. In urban villages, various buildings are intertwined, space functions are chaotic, and people's quality of life is low. The continuous development of surrounding areas has brought more burdens to urban villages and increased social inequality.

be awake.be aware. be alive. enjoy Life without possession - Is the biggest revolution of this era. When social inequality is intensifying, great anxiety and fear begin to form, and people are scrambling to get in the car. Every car that passes is the last one. Since the 1980s, the entire society has been striving forward, emphasizing catching up. To this day, this kind of imagination still exists. However, it has been completely individualized, and historical progress has become material improvement. Everyone is busy solving current problems immediately, busy looking forward and rarely inspires structural changes. It seems that a unified order has been formed, which has also had an important impact on our life planning. But Taipingbao seems to be carrying out a kind of reaction to the suspension, challenging the existing order: in the appearance of the system, it has become a new social space with real and unknown names, and has greater freedom. The resulting impact is even smaller.

Reciprocation Loop Area: 0.125 ha Location: Xi'an, China Work form: competition works Time: October 5th-December 2rd, 2019 Collaborator: Lu Chen, Chen Xiaorui Instructor: Song Gongming
By designing Reciprocation Loop, I attempt to create a public recreational destination next to the Ming Dynasty city wall, hoping to conduct a dialogue between the modern and ancient China, and bring vigor and energy to the surrounding community. The Loop would also become a place where people can have fun, make friends and seek for comfort, which would be of great importance for people who suffer from great psychological pressure in modern China.
Base introduction
Strategy Problem 1:
①:Integrate with the surrounding environment
The Lavatory was relatively isolated before the renovation.
The site is located in the southern part of the Ming city wall, separated by a moat. It has a cultural atmosphere, but it fails to talk to the city wall and attract tourists.
Problem 2:
People rest here, and the main service groups are residents who pass through it, but most of them are empty squares with no good staying space.
The spatial form of the “loop” integrates the originally isolated toilet with the environment.
②:Add new features
Concept
Lavatory
Dialogue
Cafe
Children games
③:24-7 crowd dynamic vitality
Through comparison with the ancient citywall, a famous place was created. It established a dialogue between the old and the new, the big and the small, but both are shelters for people in daily life.
20
The“loop”mainly provides convenience for the disabled, office workers and surrounding residents, and attracts tourists.

Rainwater collecting
Collecting, using or recharging rainwater into the ground can reduce the pressure of urban flood control and drainage, increase water evaporation, and reduce or avoid water accumulation in the courtyard.
Buoyancy ventilation
It belongs to natural ventilation. The air pressure on the windward side increases and the air pressure on the leeward side decreases, resulting in a pressure difference to form a phenomenon of air flow from the windward side to the leeward side. It is an economical and effective ventilation method to save energy, equipment investment and operating costs.
Photovoltaic solar power
Photovoltaic power generation does not use fuel, does not emit any substances including greenhouse gases and other exhaust gases, does not pollute the air, does not produce noise, and is environmentally friendly.

I believe that designers have the obligation to respond to social issues through their designs. Aging problem is becoming increasingly severe in China, and many elderly people in rural China are left behind by their children who choose to make a living in big cities. Given this situation, I try to use the landscape to make connections among these lonely old people, who can walk out to communicate with each other, and hence get rid of looniness and embrace a better life. I believe this project will help the elderly citizens in the countryside to maintain mental health.

Pit courtyard houses consists of rooms that are excavated around a sunken courtyard dug in the ground. The inner space maintains the vaulted structure, achieved using bricks or stone to build the arches. The space between the arched structures is filled with earth. This kind of building is very cheap and efficient in term of material, construction, and maintenance. Young people have left cave style dwellings in the Loess Plateau, leaving more and more old people living alone in Baishe Village, Sanyuan County.

It is difficult for Mianyang, a city in west China, to withstand floods because of its unique landscapes. The fourth project aims to help this city restore its ecological balance by making full use of its local natural resources. Based on the spatial characteristics of the site to be repaired and the types of surrounding habitats, I constructed a plant community to fulfil this purpose.
Foreword
38
PROBLEM: CLIMATE:
Mianyang City belongs to the humid monsoon climate zone in the northern subtropical mountains. The precipitation is relatively abundant, and the inter-annual changes in precipitation are very large. Floods are prone to occur in summer.
REASONS: ①:Located in the northwestern part of the Sichuan Basin, the middle and upper reaches of the Fujiang River, there are often heavy rains in summer and poor drainage. ②:Blind expansion of the city, the original depressions, lakes, and reservoirs were destroyed or occupied, greatly reducing the capacity of rainwater storage. ③:Mianyang is a city of immigrants, a natural woodland before tall buildings and asphalt roads. Urban construction fragmented the habitat of Mianyang.
HARM:
①:On July 11, 2018, the economic loss of Mianyang Pingwu increased to 1.86 billion ②:often cause the disappearance and death of people.112171 of ③:The 7.11 flood affected about 600 acres of flood.

CONCEPT
Habitat fragmentation
Apply the corresponding planting pattern technology on different substrates, bring together the fusion plants, establish a selfsufficient "plant community", and through a series of maintenance methods, make the "plant community" woven together to achieve a balance : All plant communities can survive and multiply without manual intervention.

The habitat design in the suitable construction zone corresponds to its habitat type. Orchards can be used as a carrier space for eco-agricultural experience activities. Country activities can be carried out in woodland-type habitat patches. Dry land carries the necessary infrastructure construction, and eco-agricultural experience parks can be built next to paddy fields.
