Fifteen Weeks at the Ford
THE FORD LAUNCHES its season under the stars July 14 with Mac DeMarco performing works from his new album Five Easy Hot Dogs. Programming at the historic amphitheater continues with more than a dozen Ford debuts, the return of L.A. Soundscapes, and the producer program FordLab. Artists represent roots as diverse as Brazil, Iceland and Ukraine. New to the Ford are singersongwriters Darren Criss July 23, Uruguayan Grammy- and Oscar-winning Jorge Drexler July 29 and Grammy-winning Lucinda Williams—“one of America’s greatest living songwriters,” says Rolling Stone—on Aug. 10. Theatrical Kyiv-based quartet DakhaBrakha presents its Ukrainian avant-garde folk and “ethnic chaos” sound Aug. 4. Family programming on Sunday mornings includes It’s a Musical World with Bob Baker Marionette Theater on Aug. 13. Aug. 25, Pacific Opera Project presents its contemporary spin on Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, fittingly set in the Hollywood Hills. The stylings of Hermanos Gutierrez—Swiss-Ecuadorian guitar duo Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez on Sept. 28—are informed by saguaros and surf, spaghetti westerns and surreal psychodrama. 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. E., L.A., 323.850.2000, theford.com
