A legacy of a lifetime
By Karen Drum
There is one name on the Center staff roster that has personified this institution and its journey from construction to the campus we have today.
Judy Morr.
From 1985 to 2024, Judith O’Dea Morr has been a steady voice in guiding the Center to become the world-class performing arts center that stands today, from the opening of Segerstrom Hall in 1986 to the building of Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, Samueli Theater, and Julianne and George Argyros Plaza 20 years later. Her artistic programming has been ambitious, innovative and transformative, putting the Center at the top of its league.
“Judy has been such a fundamental part of the Center from its beginning, paving the way for it to become a world-class organization,” says
Center President Casey Reitz. “We are grateful for her tireless dedication to the performing arts which has taken this institution to where we are today.”
“Judy singularly raised the bar of excellence, not only in programming and dance, but in setting an ambitious artistic vision for the Center,” says Center board member Elizabeth Segerstrom.
Earlier this year, the Center held a celebratory luncheon to honor Morr and to benefit dance at the Center, something that is close to Morr’s heart. Appropriately held in the Judy Morr Theater, a performance by students of the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School entertained guests, and board member Jane Fujishige Yada presented Morr with the inaugural Judy Morr Icon Award. The outpouring of love and admiration for her was palpable.
An East Coast native, Morr arrived in Costa Mesa in 1985 while the Center was under construction. Thomas Kendrick, who had worked at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., was appointed the Center’s first executive director, and suggested bringing in Morr, who had 14 years of experience at Kennedy Center as general manager.
“When I came here I had no idea how important the Center would become,” says Morr. “It was built with the generosity of this community that stepped up to the challenge of making a great performing arts center, and they succeeded beyond anyone’s dreams.”
She has held many titles at the Center over the years, including first vice president of programming and executive vice president. In addition, as producing director for nearly 40 years, Morr oversaw the programming calendar together with Aaron Egigian, senior programming director.
At the beginning, the first order of business was putting together the first Broadway Series. Shortly after it opened, the Center presented Singin’ in the Rain and very quickly became
known for having the best of Broadway musicals in Orange County, with shows appearing here not long after their triumphs on the Great White Way. Patrons no longer had to drive to Los Angeles to catch a great performance. Morr and Egigian put together seasons of the best jazz and cabaret artists, chamber music, family entertainment, and special engagements from around the world.
But it is dance that is Morr’s true love.
In the international world of dance, Morr knows all the right names at all the best companies and has ensured the Center is known as the discipline’s leading presenter in this country. The Center was designed with ballet in mind, offering expansive rehearsal spaces for large dance companies. The Segerstrom Hall stage can host the biggest productions, and it has become a place where great dancers want to perform. “I am so proud of having had the opportunity to build one of the best dance presentation series in the country,” Morr says.
She launched the International Dance Series in 1986 with New York City Ballet. Since then, dance fans have enjoyed visits by more than 70 of the world’s leading companies, including the Bolshoi Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet, The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Teatro La Scala, The Danish Royal Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, National Ballet of China and many more.
The Center has presented 20 world premieres, 9 American premieres, 20 West Coast premieres, and 12 Southern California premieres, and has also commissioned more than 10 dance productions.
“Judy’s passion and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the Center,” says Phil Lyons, who, with his wife Mary, is a dance fan. “She built an outstanding dance series that has enriched the Center with exceptional artistry and performance.”
It has been the partnership with American Ballet Theatre (ABT), nurtured by Morr from the beginning, that has been one of the Center’s
most important dance affiliations. Mikhail Baryshnikov, then artistic director of ABT, visited the Center in early 1986 before it opened. He was delighted with Segerstrom Hall, calling it “a paradise … full of character, intimacy, comfort and promise,” and announced that he would return in December with the American Ballet Theatre company to dance his production of The Nutcracker. Four months after the opening, he did, and the company has returned nearly every year since with a major production, including world and American premieres.
The alliance grew stronger when, in 2015, the Center opened the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School, the West Coast establishment of the company’s acclaimed dance school in New York City, and the only other ABT school outside NYC. With a full schedule of classes ranging from Pre-Primary, starting at age 3, to Pre-Professional, which goes through age 18, it offers the full span of classes that can take a would-be dancer from beginner to readiness to audition for a dance company.
In 2014, the Center’s board of directors renamed Founders Hall in her honor: the Judy Morr Theater. This became a primary studio for the ABT school when it opened the next year, as well as a rehearsal space for visiting dance companies and Broadway shows.
Reflecting on her nearly 40 years at the Center, Morr says, “What a gift it has been for me to work for the Center and help bring great performances to Orange County. It has been an incredible lifetime experience, and I am so grateful for that.”
Thank you, Judy.
What a mule and a hen can teach children
By Karen Drum
Once upon a time, an American performing arts center teamed with a Northern Ireland theater and a British playwright to produce an original family play set in the American Southwest. Called The Musicians of Bremen Live!, it stars a mule, hen, bobcat and coyote who go on a journey together across the desert. Along the way they learn that despite, or, perhaps, because of their differences they can all be friends. The quartet arrives in the big city where they use their diverse talents to become a famous musical band.
And everyone lives happily ever after.
But this story is real. Segerstrom Center for the Arts and theater company Cahoots NI together have produced an original theater piece for family audiences. The co-production will premiere at the Center February 8–9, 2025 as part of the Center’s Family Series. It will then travel to Northern Ireland for performances.
“Cahoots NI is delighted to be partnering with the Center as co-producers of this new piece of work for young audiences,” says Cahoots founder and artistic director Paul Mc Eneaney. “It’s an incredibly exciting first for us both!” In addition to his producing and directing work with Cahoots, Mc Eneaney has worked extensively as an illusion consultant for a wide range of theater productions.
“We’re very proud to be co-producers of this show,” says Center President Casey Reitz. “Our education department has done a wonderful job working with Cahoots NI and putting the Center on the map as a creator of quality youth programming. Families will adore these unique
characters while they absorb the message we are sharing.”
This new play features live original music and songs, and plenty of surprises. It’s based on a Brothers Grimm fairy tale, The Town Musicians of Bremen, but in this version the protagonists are animals (and a bird) found in the American Southwest who ordinarily would not get along. Let’s face it: The coyote would be inclined to eat the hen, and the mule would refuse to proceed any further with the bobcat. They each have distinct and strong personalities. As the bobcat tells the others, “What we got here is differences. Real differences.”
The animals have each been forced to leave their homes and are on their way to the big city to find a new life. Ruffles the Hen finds herself lost at a crossroad, where she meets the other three characters and they decide to travel together. As they do, prejudices break down and the four soon find common ground and empathy for one another. They also discover that each of them has a musical talent, leading to the formation of a band. The production ends with the four performing together for the audience.
The tale has an important message in today’s contentious times. The story was created to introduce and explore the themes of equity, diversity and inclusion. “The story at the heart of the show is about celebrating what makes each of us unique—an impactful message we want to share with young people,” says Mc Eneaney.
Cahoots NI is a renowned Belfast-based family theater company with a stellar reputation for its distinctive style. For more than 20 years
For all that is Orange County. For all that is you. No two families are the same. That’s why we offer personalized, high-quality pediatric care for you and your littlest loved ones. Learn more at kp.org Every little patient is a big deal.
Mc Eneaney has led a team experienced in creating original work that is appealing and nurtures a love of the arts in children and young people. Everyone leans into the creative process to devise a theatrical world that incorporates sophistication, beautiful music, and clever magic that inspires a sense of wonder and unlocks imaginations.
Speaking about the Center, “It’s always a huge privilege to perform our work in such a distinguished venue,” says Mc Eneaney. “We’ve had the pleasure of visiting many times when our family shows have been on the Center’s Family Series roster. The education department staff have been delightful to work with and full of good suggestions for this play.”
* * * * *
The American Southwest is not a place British playwright Charley Way had spent much time, but after picking a Western setting for the play, he spent a week in a cabin in southwest Texas, soaking up the atmosphere of a very different environment than he was used to. (That UK rain!) The weather, animals, and vegetation all played a part in creating the characters and background for the story. Way is one of Britian’s leading writers for children and young people.
The Center’s initial look at the production took place in the spring of 2023. Mc Eneaney and Way travelled to Orange County and
workshopped some scenes and early concepts with acting students from local colleges in a rehearsal room at the Center. This helped define the characters, how they would interact and the arc of action. Some of the script had been written, and the actors fleshed it out to demonstrate how it might look. Even though it was a small part of what the complete production would be, it gave Center education department personnel insight into the style and direction of the story.
There was much more work completed back in Northern Ireland. New songs were incorporated, dialogue was refined (well, as refined as one will get when it’s a mule speaking), and the production’s actors brought ideas forward as rehearsals progressed. Many Zoom meetings later, a team from the Center visited Belfast last fall for the final workshop.
“Collaborating with talented artists from Ireland and the U.S. on this project has been a wonderful experience and as a result we have created a joyful, meaningful piece which will resonate with people of all ages,” says Mc Eneaney.
And now the show is ready for its world premiere in the Center’s Family Series.
It’s time to raise the curtain and meet Ruffles the Hen.

MASTERING THE ART OF THE BEDROOM
95 YEARS OF SWEDISH EXCELLENCE
Since 1926, four generations of the Ljung family have aspired to produce the most comfortable and technologically advanced beds on the market.
As a privately-owned family business, our only responsibilities are to our customers, to the integrity of our product, and to our commitment to sustainable thought and practices. Over the last 95 years our beds have been thoroughly vetted and tested – by the scientific community, but more importantly, by four generations of customers worldwide. The results are clear. We have a technology that works and the history to prove it.
Finding happiness against all odds
Kimberly Akimbo acts like most 16-yearold teen-agers. But she’s not. Kimberly has a very rare genetic condition that causes her to age four times faster than her classmates. Her physical body is really about 72. Her long hair is gray and she looks like she could be someone’s grandmother … who wears a candy necklace. Kimberly is aware that she is near the limit of her life expectancy. She won’t go to college, and she’s not even sure if she will get a first kiss.
The winner of 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Kimberly Akimbo is about growing up and growing old (in no particular order). “Best theater of the year,” says The New York Times “A dose of pure joy and profoundly funny and heartbreaking.”
“What makes this show so distinct and satisfying is the way its creators mined the plot’s complexity for such riches and emotional payoffs,” says New York Theater Guide. “They nail the delicate balance between the extremes: what is, well, deadly serious and laugh-out-loud funny. When the stakes are life and death the rewards can be just as high.”
Having recently moved with her family to
a new town in suburban New Jersey, Kimberly is forced to navigate family dysfunction, her medical problems, her first crush, and possible felony charges. But Kimberly is much like her school friends; laughing one minute, pouting the next, wishing her parents were different and dealing with an aunt who wants Kimberly to help her commit a crime. Always the optimist, she is determined to find happiness against all odds and embark on a great adventure.
“Kimberly Akimbo, with a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, is also howlingly funny, hopscotching among emotions with virtuosic fluidity,” says the New Yorker
“This is a show that proves musicals can be deeply strange and spirited and can challenge audiences to see things from another point of view,” says Variety. “Now, isn’t that a worthwhile way to spend our limited time on Earth?”
We think so.
Segerstrom Hall January 21–February 2
Start the year on the right note
January is going to be a great month for song at the Center. Three concerts will warm up your new year with favorite entertainers and songs that will having you humming all the way home.
David Foster and Katharine McFee have an unconventional love story, and they’ve turned it into beautiful music. Foster is a 16-time GRAMMY® Award-winning musician, songwriter, and producer, while his wife is an acclaimed singer and a television and Broadway star. The pair will be in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall January 23 and it’s sure to be unpredictable. They sing her songs, his songs, and banter about their life together, as well as tell the stories behind some of Foster’s most famous songs.
It seems as if every popular song we hear has been written and/or produced by Foster. He has created hit songs and award-winning gold and platinum albums for a diverse array of artists including Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna,
Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Michael Bolton, Seal, Chaka Khan, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Chicago, and more.
McPhee is an accomplished actress and singer who first found fame during a run on Season 5 of American Idol (2006), finishing in second place. As a clue to the future, Foster was her mentor on the show, although they were just friends at the time. She married someone else and Foster played piano at the wedding. Fast forward to 2017, when McFee had been divorced for a year, she and Foster hit the red carpet together, the Hollywood way to announce they were a couple. Foster has probably turned this into a song!
Jason Robert Brown opens January 16 in the Cabaret Series with guest Anika Noni Rose. Brown is his own Broadway one-man-band: a composer, lyricist, conductor, arranger, director, and, most of all, a performer. The Philadelphia Inquirer calls him “One of Broadway’s smartest and most sophisticated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim.” He scored the musical The Bridges of Madison County and won two Tony Awards for it. Another Broadway show, Parade, directed by Hal Prince, won Brown another Tony and a Drama Desk Award. He was only 25 years old when he wrote the song-cycle Songs for a New World. One of those songs, “Stars and the Moon,” has become a cabaret standard.
Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia has named Rose a Revolutionary in Residence, and she really is revolutionary. Famous as Princess Tiana in Disney’s animated feature film The Princess and the Frog, she is the first Black Disney princess and in 2011 was named a Disney Legend Princess. She is a Tony winner for Caroline, or Change, and starred in the Academy Awardwinning film Dreamgirls. She was nominated for a Grammy for her part in the film’s soundtrack recording.
After graduating from American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, Rose headed for New York City and within a few months found work in the theater. In Broadway musicals, films, and on television, Rose has always found time to sing. She appeared in concert in London with Jason Robert Brown, and Center audiences will love this reunion.
Actress Kerry Butler stars in the Cabaret Series January 23–25. The New York Times calls her “the rare Broadway ingénue who is as funny as she is pretty, and she sings gloriously too.”
Butler first dreamed of being an actress
when she was 9 years old and saw Annie. Now she’s a Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League Award nominee. Butler is best known as a theater star, and has been in major productions including Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, Xanadu (for which she was nominated for a Tony Award), Les Misérables, Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast, Oklahoma!, Catch Me If You Can, Mean Girls, and Beetlejuice
Her latest production is an original team effort. In Mama I’m a Big Girl Now!, Tony nominees Butler and Laura Bell Bundy and Tony Award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur celebrate 20 years of Broadway hits, motherhood, and lifelong friendship The three met while originating the roles of Tracy, Penny, and Amber in the Tony Award-winning show Hairspray!
During this show she tells the audience that her favorite Disney princess is Ariel and that she performed the demo for The Little Mermaid at Alan Menken’s house (the legendary Disney composer). She obviously made an impression. “The girl can bring the house down with her belt, and make an audience cry with her whisper,” says Menken.
As for her cabaret bona fides, she made her debut at the legendary Feinstein’s at the Regency with Seth Rudetsky, where she mixed Broadway tunes with her own favorite songs and behind-the-scenes stories. She has gone on to have a solid career line in cabaret, including appearing in several series around town. With so many songs to sing and so many shows to talk about, Butler will keep our Cabaret audience mesmerized.
These performances, from stars of Broadway to headliner entertainers, will give your new year a memorable and electrifying start.
Feliz aniversário Ivan Lins
We are celebrating another jazz birthday this month. Brazilian music icon Ivan Lins is turning 80 but, like Monty Alexander, not slowing down any time soon. For his return to the Center, he’ll be joined by Pacific Jazz Orchestra and other special guests.
Pacific Jazz Orchestra is a new 40-piece ensemble based in Los Angeles. With its superb group of musicians, it could only happen here with the Southland’s wide talent pool to choose from. The artistic director and conductor of the orchestra is 7-time Grammy-nominated Chris Walden, a composer and music arranger who has worked with all the big names.
The orchestra’s season is spread between venues around Southern California, Each concert includes different guest artists, making each show a unique experience.
Birthday boy Lins is a songwriter, vocalist and pianist. His more than 40 albums attest to his worldwide popularity. Although at university he earned a degree in chemical engineering, luckily, Ivan soon discovered his musical talent and found his métier. Lins’ first hit was in 1970, and the accolades haven’t stopped. He’s been nominated for numerous Latin Grammy Awards, winning four, and has worked with leading singers including George Benson, Nancy Wilson, Barbra Streisand, and Quincy Jones.
Joining Lins for this engagement is Center favorite Jane Monheit. While attending the Manhattan School of Music, Jane placed second in the Thelonious Monk Competition which
launched her career: She released her first album at the age of 22. She is passionate about jazz and has worked with a long list of great jazz artists. Lins is a special favorite. Of a recent concert engagement, Broadwayworld.com wrote, “No stranger to Brazilian jazz sounds, Monheit often collaborates with—and writes English language lyrics for—one of her idols, Grammy-winning artist Ivan Lins, and for this concert, she gave us her bilingual cover of his striking song “Meu País (My Country),” which even hinted at slight R&B undertones.”
The third artist joining this event is guitarist Lee Ritenour, a SoCal local and USC grad who is a renowned session player known as “Captain Fingers” for his rare dexterity while playing. Over the past five decades he has played a wide variety of sounds, and Brazilian music is not new to him. Some years ago he and fellow jazz musician Dave Grusin recorded an album of Brazilian music. For their recent second Brazilian outing they travelled to Sao Paulo to play with the best of the best legendary local jazz musicians. The result was Brasil, released earlier this year.
Can our concert hall stage cope with so much incredible jazz? Of course! With all this talent it’s going to be a lively and spirited birthday celebration that Lins will never forget. Join us for the party.

Synopsis:
ACT I
Scene 1, The Kitchen
On Christmas Eve, the Stahlbaum kitchen is alive with activity as cooks and housekeepers bustle about preparing for the family’s annual holiday party. The Nanny keeps a watchful eye over the Stahlbaum children, Clara and Fritz. Once preparations are done, everyone adjourns to the parlor to greet the guests. Clara turns back as she exits and is startled to see a mouse. She runs to join the others in the dining room. With the kitchen completely empty, more mischievous mice appear and scurry about looking for scraps of the holiday meal.
Scene 2, The Party
The Stahlbaums welcome family and friends to their grand parlor replete with holiday decorations, including a beautiful Christmas tree. The party grows festive with music and dance as Clara’s godfather, Drosselmeyer, magically appears. A skilled toymaker always full of the most inventive surprises, Drosselmeyer entertains everyone as he presents four life-sized dolls. However, these dolls cannot be played with, and Clara is disappointed. Then, Drosselmeyer gives Clara a unique Nutcracker handsomely dressed as a soldier. Fritz becomes jealous of his sister and rushes at her, snatching the Nutcracker from her and breaking it. A heartbroken Clara looks on as Drosselmeyer repairs the Nutcracker. As the evening grows late, the guests depart and the Stahlbaum family retires for a long winter night’s rest.
Scene 3, The Battle
During the night, a sleepy Clara tiptoes back down the staircase in search of her beloved Nutcracker. As the clock strikes midnight, Clara sees Drosselmeyer’s face on the clock and becomes distressed by mice scampering into the room from all sides. The Nutcracker tries to help her but is carried away by the mice. Drosselmeyer appears just in time to catch Clara as she faints from fright. As she recovers, Clara sees her house change all around her. The Christmas tree grows large and wondrous. The Nutcracker heroically summons the toy soldiers to help fend off the scurrying mice. The fierce Mouse King arrives and engages in a duel with the Nutcracker. Just when it seems the evil Mouse King may be victorious, Clara takes off her shoe and bravely throws it at him, casting a fatal blow. As the mice quickly retreat, the Nutcracker transforms into a young Prince.
Scene 4, The Snow
The Stahlbaum parlor suddenly becomes quite cold and snowflakes begin to fall. At first, the snow falls gently as if in a waltz but it builds into a frightful blizzard. Drosselmeyer brings a small sleigh to rescue Clara and the Prince from the freezing snow, and the moonlight guides them on a shining path for their journey over snowcovered hills.
ACT II
Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy
Drosselmeyer navigates the sleigh through the blizzard to safety in the sunny Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Sugar Plum Fairy and her subjects are amazed to learn of Clara’s bravery in killing the Mouse King, and the Fairy commands a festival in honor of Clara, featuring charming dances from around the world. As the celebration draws to a close, Clara receives her greatest Christmas wish and sees herself transformed into a beautiful Princess to dance in the arms of her Nutcracker Prince.
EPILOGUE
Christmas Morning
As the joyous celebration and magic kingdom fade, Clara suddenly finds herself alone in her room on Christmas morning, wondering: “Was this all a dream?”
There will be one intermission.

Martha Graham: dance creator extraordinaire
Known as one of the most influential forces of the 20th century, Martha Graham’s groundbreaking and uniquely American style of dance has influenced generations of artists and continues to captivate international audiences. Segerstrom Center for the Arts is thrilled to be a part of GRAHAM100, the worldwide celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Martha Graham Dance Company legacy.
For this one-night-only performance, the company has curated their works to include glorious classics from the Graham repertory including Appalachian Spring, one of her most recognized and popular works, danced to the incomparable music of Aaron Copland. A newlywed couple in their new home in a new land celebrate their joy at what their future can hold for them. “It’s a full-throated, enthusiastic display of the American frontier spirit,” says bachtrack.com. It was made as WWII was ending and Americans were looking forward to a new era of prosperity.
Graham created Immediate Tragedy in 1937 as the Spanish Civil War was raging. This solo work focused on the universal figure of determination and resilience in the face of the atrocities being committed. It was well received, but as other world events overtook everyone’s attention, it was eventually forgotten. Four years ago, the work was reimagined by Janey Eilber, artistic director of the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance. She worked with photographs of Graham performing the work in 1937 as well as other archival references.
Two newer pieces will also take center stage showcasing Graham’s continued influence, excellence and innovation. CAVE, a high-energy
techno club-inspired piece by Hofesh Shechter, integrates choreographed dance into a ravetype experience. The idea came from star ballet dancer and creative producer Daniil Simkin, who wanted to expand on club dancing and take it to a new level.
We the People is a protest piece designed to embody the voice of the American people. Choreographer Jamar Roberts, a former Alvin Ailey and Complexions Contemporary Dance company member, highlights Graham’s social activism and modernism. “The dancers uphold the quintessential fierceness of Martha Graham,” says danceenthusiast.com of a recent performance of this piece.
Graham was known as the First Lady of the Theatre in the 1930s, but as one contemporary said, “She is not only the greatest American artist in the theatre, but in any field.” Agnes De Mille, who was herself a renowned

Billy Collins has a way with words
Poetry fills me with joy and I rise like a feather in the wind. Poetry fills me with sorrow and I sink like a chain flung from a bridge.
But mostly poetry fills me with the urge to write poetry, to sit in the dark and wait for a little flame to appear at the tip of my pencil.
From “The Trouble with Poetry” by Billy Collins (stanzas three and four)
Poet Billy Collins doesn’t have to wait long for that little flame. Whatever he writes usually finds its way into one of his bestselling books; he has even published a collection of haiku. If a poet could be called a rock star, Collins would be that person. He has been dubbed, “the most popular poet in America” by The New York Times, and it goes on, “Collins remains the most companionable of poetic companions.”
Collins is appearing as part of our In Conversation Series, and the audience will find the writer as friendly and open as his poetry. His accessible verse and gentle stanzas often look at the quiet turns we experience in life: a falling leaf, rowing a boat, a dog chasing a wellchewed Frisbee. They can be quirky or profound, melancholy and serious in turns, although never
in a way that leaves the reader feeling desolated.
“Collins engages with his audience,” says thedailybeast.com. “One of the ways he welcomes the reader with open arms is through humor. He’s pretty much always funny; it is part of his aesthetic, his poetic DNA.”
“There’s something very authentic about humor, when you think about it. Anybody can pretend to be serious,” Collins says. “But you can’t pretend to be funny.”
Collins may come across as a gentle country scribe, but he’s earned almost countless awards and accolades. In 2001, Billy Collins was appointed United States Poet Laureate. In 2004, he was named New York State Poet Laureate. In 2016 he was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts & Letters. He has received fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Guggenheim Foundation. In October 2004, Collins was selected as the inaugural recipient of the Poetry Foundation’s Mark Twain Award for Humor in Poetry.
With Collins’ newest book, Water, Water, out this month, fans will have an opportunity to ask him about his focus on the joys and mysteries of life. Don’t miss this opportunity.

Give the gift of entertainment
You may be wishing you had some gift ideas right now while you get started on your holiday shopping. The Center is here to help!
A Center gift certificate is a perfect solution. Gift Certificates are available in any amount of $10 or more and may be used to purchase tickets for any performance at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. For online orders, you can choose a Gift Certificate design to personalize your gift, no matter what the occasion, and add your own message.
However you celebrate, we wish you and yours a very merry and bright holiday season.
CENTER FUND
The Center Fund provides general operating support on an annual basis for Segerstrom Center for the Arts and its programs. We are honored to recognize the following individuals, corporations and foundations for their gifts made between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024. Your generosity makes all we do possible—and we thank you! To learn more about the Center Fund and the benefits of giving, please contact us at 714.556.2122 x4009 or Give@scfta.org.
